So, went to the us and it is GOOD NEWS. I am so thankful - I was so expecting the worst!

Baby is measuring a little over 12 weeks - which is typical of my pregnancies, measuring ahead..... and the heartbeat was 167. Everything looks perfect!

I'm so relieved......and since baby is measuring just about out of the first trimester, I'm finally feeling a little more confident about this pregnancy - I think we'll ACTUALLY have a baby come august!

The hospital really blows though. Straight out of the 70s and over 30 minutes from our house) - I guess I've been spoiled, my husband's prior insurance our hosptial was exactly 1 mile from our home, they had only birthing suites (basically - one room that looked like a living room and had all the supplies hidden behind pictures, etc.) and you stayed there the WHOLE time. This place they have separate labor, birthing, antepartum, and remainder of visit rooms....plus they want to TAKE MY BABY for two hours right after he/she is born to clean up, etc. (all the while moving me to another FLOOR?) I was like, NO way! That is SO not happening. Again, my old hospital did it ALL in the room WITH you. Maddie and Grace never left my sight except for the hearing test they did the second night!

Julia(34), Mommy to: Maddie(10), Grace(6), Charlotte (3) and our only Little Man (due 2/23).

It's a crazy life!

Oh, that's great news!! So glad you got some reassurance. I'm sure it makes it easier to think about this baby as a reality now.

Sucks on the hospital thing Ours tries to take the baby for an hour or so after birth (bath, etc) but I make DH go to the nursery and stay with baby. Same for the hearing screen and PKU test. Some nurses get snippy, but we tell them that it's our family policy not to have our newborns out of our sight under any circumstances, and that we are within our legal rights to accompany them at all times. That shuts up even the most pushy ones

Half-marathon running Mommy to 3 spunky girls and 1 sweet boy. Spending my days and nights where my kids need me most- at home with them!!

Great news Julia24!! I'm from a different DDC but I have been following your situation because I'm in a similar one. I first had brown blood but this weekend I had a fair amount of red blood which has now become brown blood. I go in for my 1st u/s on Thursday at 6weeks 4days. I am hoping, hoping, hoping to see a healthy fetal sac and pole and hopefuly a heartbeat. Your story though has given me great hope that everything will be okay! I hope the rest of your pregnancy is happy and healthy!

awesome news

i can relate to your hospital story - funny thing is my last birth with DS was exactly described as you said it, straight out of the 70s, moved to a tiny tiny little room after delivery, took the baby, etc. but in the end it turned out fine, plus the nurses were excellent! i ended up having some nice memories of the place. crappy little tv and windowless room and all me, DH and baby eating burgers on the bed, watching old movies, stuff like that i am trying to make you feel better, but maybe this is coming out wrong but trying to say not to worry

but THIS time i am going to the swanky kind of hosp where its all in one big room, so......just kind of weird! because to me the norm is the old school version, ya know

also i am from WISC so it was good to see that in your sig

again GOOD NEWS and congrats

d.

living in the with DH, DS (5-30-07) and DD (9-26-09) don't forget the dogs, cat, fish, toads and geckos.....
