I know I haven't posted much and mostly on the PG after Loss thread, b/c I've had so many worrisome symptoms so far with this pg and I had a m/c back in Sept. So not only has this felt like the longest first trimester EVER, but I can't seem to catch a break long enough to start feeling positive about my chances.

I had light spotting and really severe, painful cramping several weeks ago which led to 2 u/s's -- one at 5w3 and the other at 6w3d -- both thankfully showing a hb, but also showing a subchorionic hematoma. At the last u/s, though, they told me the SCH was resolving and shouldn't give me any further trouble.

And it didn't. Until two days ago, and now again, today. More brown spotting and cramping. But of course it could also be something else, something worse, like my worst fears come to pass -- another missed m/c .

So anyway, I have an u/s scheduled for 1 pm MST today. And I'm a wee bit of a basketcase, as you might imagine.

So if you could send some calming, healthy baby vibes my way, I would be really grateful.

Guin

good thoughts comin your way -- and remember once you see the heartbeat your chances of m/c are way way way down. way down.

let us know.
:

also thinking the brown spotting sounds like the remnants of the sub. hem. thing. just coming out. old blood.

Thank you so much everyone. It meant a lot to me; I really needed the support!

Well, baby IS still in there. And with a very important feature -- a hb (171 bpm). And otherwise just floating around, measuring right on for dates, and basically wholly unconcerned about his/her mama's extreme stress and worry. Isn't that just like a child for you?

I was lying there, practically hyperventilating from stress, but my little swimming shrimp seemed blissfully unaware.

The u/s tech was really nice, btw. She knew why I was there, and the very first thing she did after putting the wand on my belly was to zero in on the baby, find its little beating heart, and then turn the volume up on the monitor full blast so I could hear the little freight train chugging away. That is the BEST sound is the whole wide world. Hands down.

This time, most of the u/s was done using the transabdominal, and only a small portion was transvaginal. Guess baby's big enough now for it to show up via the belly. Cervix was closed up nice and tight, too.

Then I had to wait another hour or so for my OB's nurse to call me with the official radiology report. And it turns out there is nothing they can see which explains my spotting and cramping. The SCH continues to heal up nicely, and the baby looks great. Which is fantastic, but then WHY do I keep cramping and bleeding? : Their best guess right now is that it's the last remnants of the SCH slowly trickling its way out, and it should stop. Or not.

I'm exhausted and starving -- I was too worried to eat lunch before the u/s, and wow, holding onto this much anxiety is really tiring! And of course I'm still cramping. And spotting. But I guess I'm just supposed to ignore it now?

I'll tell you, if I didn't already have gray hair sprouting from my temples, this pg would definitely have tipped the scales in that direction. In fact, I'll be amazed if my whole HEAD doesn't turn gray by 30 wks., at the rate I'm going!

Oh, here's a pic of the platypus, for your viewing pleasure:

Woo Hoo! Great news! Well, it's still stinky that you have to worry about the SCH resolving but at least little shrimpy is happy and doing his/her thing.

Half-marathon running Mommy to 3 spunky girls and 1 sweet boy. Spending my days and nights where my kids need me most- at home with them!!

Oh Guin, s/he's BEAUTIFUL!!!!!

I am SO relieved, happy, thankful, ecstatic that everything's okay! I know that you will likely still be wracked with worry until the bleeding/cramping stops, so please feel free to write out those feelings for all of us to share your burden. That's what we're here for!

Did your dr mention any kind of management plan as long as the bleeding/cramping continues? Does she want you taking it easy? Another ultrasound in a few weeks? I don't really know if either of these is appropriate, I just wonder if they mentioned about what the next few weeks will entail.

Man, I jsut want to reach out and HUG you!!! Out of happiness, out of support, out of love, out of BTDT.

Thanks for the update!! I'm glad that the news was good!! I hope the cramping and bleeding leave you soon!! How stressful.. even if you KNOW everything is looking good... it's still hard to not be stressed under those conditions. Just try to take it easy.

Hooray -I suspect that the blood irritats the cervix which is what in turn causes the cramping.....those are my non medical thoughts.

Oh - and btw, just had an us on Monday and was spotting all day Tuesday BC of it, just FYI - be prepared for it to act up a little now. (and mine wasn't even transvaginal)

What happy news - I just keep thinking that once the sac fills up the whole uterus (so SOON for me, a couple weeks for you) this craziness will finally end - let's hope so, right?

I spotted bled and cramped through my entire last pregnancy (I think it stopped about month 7) due to a subchoronic hemorrhage. I gave birth to a very healthy 9lb baby. I hope everything turns out wonderfully for you.
