Hi ladies!!!

I have about an hour of work left today, but I've done *zero* actual work (and I mean zero!!) It's not that I'm slacking off, I just honestly don't have anything to do!! Our whole office is in a lull right now...

Had a great weekend...went to the zoo Saturday, then the boys (both boys!) had a sleepover at a friend's house, then out and about all day Sunday from 8:30am until 5pm It was great!

One of the things we did Sunday was visit my midwife/doula at work...her "full time" job is a paramedic, and she was on shift at the fire house. We took her a bunch of donuts and just hung out. She opened the back of an ambulance and let the kids squirt saline at each other and make glove balloons! She even strapped them to the gurney and pushed them around the fire house. Then she was messing around with my belly...tried to get the baby's heartbeat on the EKG machine (it didn't work, either baby is too small, or the leads can't pick it up through the amniotic fluid, but it was fun to try).

Today was a noteworthy day for hubby and I...took him to the urologist this morning, his surgery is scheduled for Aug 7th!!! YAY! We really liked the dr, he was funny, knew his stuff, put us at ease, cracked a joke or two. Which, you know, if this dr is going to have a scalpel near my husband's scrotum, I want him to be competent, but a little bedside manner is a good thing too! Hubby and I are both SO sure we're done with biological children...the physical stress of this pregnancy is really cementing that decision for both of us, and the stress of handling Connor as he gets older and realizing what more we have ahead of us is enough for us to question the wisdom of more kids, particularly biological kids (since his syndrome could be genetic). So yeah...good appt!

I have more to chat about, I'm sure, but my boss just walked by and hollered my name, so I'm going to go see what he needs

hooray. this weekend was a huge reminder for me that i am pregnant. saturday we walked to the mall and got our wedding bands and some household things. i was in severe pain on the way home and barely made it back into my bed. my pelvis hips and back were killing me. when were talking about it decided to look up how far we had walked, and it turns out that there and back was 6 miles...oops. i always considered it fairly close (3 miles there and back) but my pregnant body does not so much agree. i was pretty much in bed the rest of that day.

sunday we went for a shorter walk to look for suits for dp for the wedding. it was not that far, my hips and legs were fine. on the way there however, maybe 10 minutes after leaving home i tried to bend my fingers and realized i could not. my fingers were all swollen like sausages. it was no fun or good. we were not out that long and being inside where it was cooler helped, along with more rest.

we did however, get favors ordered for the baby shower/ wedding. find a suit we like or that he likes, now we just need to get it. got the officiant for the surprise wedding nailed down. and got our wedding bands, which are getting sized. so it was productive. dp gave the dog a bath

We spent Saturday running around getting supplies for the older kids camp this week and then went bowling. Our youngest had a great time bowling with the little rack they supply for the little ones! Our DD kicked our butts

Sunday we went swimming at our community pool, then went and picked up iced lattes at dunkin' donuts and spent the rest of the day playing. The kids had a big water fight in the back yard and the baby spent most of the day between hanging out in the a/c and going out in the little blow up pool we put in the back yard.

Today I have been helping the kids pack for camp, dropping them off in the morning, going to lunch with DH and our youngest and then tomorrow night we are headed to a baseball game and probably dinner. The tickets were originally for Dh and the kids but since they are at camp we are going to go instead. I think Wednesday we are going to look at 'maybe' getting a new car, we aren't in desperate need of a new car so we are going in with an open mind and looking for a good deal, otherwise we'll stick with what we have. Not sure what else we have planned, I hope a lot of down time and maybe some yummy food while I can still eat it

I love summer, it's so lazy and laid back, I wish it was like this all year around!

My fingers have been swelling too! I haven't had this with any of my other pg's, my midwife said to stick my hands in the air to help the swelling subside (like that won't look weird!), it happens when DH and I take walks in the morning or if I am up and about a lot in the heat. We are already in the 90's here so I have a lot of swelling to look forward to!

If I hear one more person tell me to rest up while I still can before baby comes I might go on a homicidal rampage. How the heck am I supposed to rest when I go to bed at 9.30, don't fall asleep until after 11, am up having to pee at midnight, 3 am, and 6 am (each time I'm up for at least 45 minutes trying to get comfy in bed, THEN I feel the need to pee, ugh!), and my alarm goes off at 7.30?! I am sooo sleepy all the time now!!! And my tailbone is killing me.

10 days till Chris gets home!!! :

YAY for Chris coming home!!!!!!! One of my military coworkers got back last night, he came in for a short time today to say his to all of us in the office. He's special forces, so him being gone was doubly scary (he certainly was nowhere remotely "safe", you know?)

Here's my take on sleep...there's little you can do about it (except try different pillows maybe) and besides...it prepares you for life with a baby! My experience is that the last month of pregnancy is much worse than the newborn period, physically taking care of a newborn isn't hard, and if you're already used to broken sleep from being pregnant, then there you go! In fact, I sometimes get MORE sleep after the baby is born than I got before! I remember one night when Connor was about 2 weeks old, he had cluster fed for HOURS that evening, I just could not fill him up, then he fell asleep and slept for FIVE HOURS! I hadn't slept for 5 hours consecutively the entire pregnancy, so it was HEAVENLY to me!!!!

yeah i am sick of people saying anything about my pregnancy at all, i just want to tell them to shut up. so i hear ya Jessica.

i found that making sure i sit with my feet on the floor, flat helps my tailbone as did the homeopathic stuff my midwife told me to get. at least it must be helping, cause my tailbone feels better.

it is called Hypericum peft 30x
we got it at whole foods.

and 2boys...how awesome that both boys went to a sleepover!

Sounds like many of you were able to get lots of good stuff done over the weekend. I had a bad case of the "blahs" this weekend. I managed to get the carpets shampooed on the main floor of the house, but other than that, I accomplished very little. I have really been hit by fatigue in the last week. I guess this goes along with starting the 3rd trimester? I have this long "to-do" list of things before the baby comes (I'm sure most of you do, too), but this "blah" feeling is leaving me with no motivation to get things done. And I am realizing more and more that many of them I can't do at all, or at least not without help now. Its really annoying since just a week ago I was getting all sorts of thing done. DH ordered a snoogle for me to try to help me sleep better, but it hasn't arrived yet. Maybe that will help get my energy up a little. Probably the best thing this weekend is that the LO was really, really active, and I spent lots of time feeling him move around, and watching my belly move. Have you noticed your DH/DP/SO's being a lot more "helpful" recently? My DH really turned up the "Let me do that-You shouldn't be doing that" this weekend. Its nice to have help, but at the same time it makes me feel like an invalid, YKWIM? I want to be super-woman and do it all myself.
Anyway, I'm hoping that this is a temporary lull and I'll feel more like myself again soon.

It's not like you can save up sleep! Do people think we have a stockpile that we'll pull from during the 'no sleep' newborn phase?? Or maybe we'll save it for the teen years when the kids are out socialising late, or when they get their license and we are up sick with worry????? Ummm if you can sleep wonderful, but if not grab a nap when you can to keep you going for now! One of the best parts of having a baby for me (besides the baby part ) is that I get my bladder back...I am always shocked how much pee I can hold after I have had the baby At least it is an adorable newborn waking me up and not my bladder or hips or pelvis!!

yay on the countdown for Chris to come home!!

It must have been the weekend for donuts! DD and I got some on Sunday morning.

Saturday I took my DD for her swim lesson and shopping afterwards. Spent the rest of the day around the house just hanging out. I was extra tired that day for some reason, although I really didn't do a whole heck of a lot. The most I did outside was water my flowers.

Sunday, DH and DS went out to do something together and DD and I decided to spend some time together. I took her to the park, then we went to get donuts at Krispy Kreme and to the video store to pick up a few videos. Then came home and I mowed the lawn and watered the flowers again. I had a lot more energy on this day for some reason, even though I did more. Strange.

I'm one that wishes she could stockpile some sleep. When I get a good night's sleep I'm always so thrilled because I know what's to come.

I went to a baby shower all day on Saturday - there early to help set up, then stayed to help clean up. It made for a long day and I crashed for couple hours when I got home in the evening. Took another nap on Sunday morning, then made soap that afternoon - I got some new soapmaking toys, fun!!

I had my MW appt today, I'm measuring right on at 25cm. We're meeting with a new family dr. tomorrow *note to self: must remember to print list of questions*

Pregnancy brain hit me hard today. I really feel like half my brain is missing - the good half! And I'm starting to feel a little irritable. However, that could be less about pregnancy and more about people just.not.getting.it. (seriously, if you've never paid a bill on time, why do you think I should approve your loan???)

I'm getting a hair cut tomorrow. Trying to decide if I should cut it shoulder length or wait to do that until the baby is born. I'm thinking about doing something like this: http://www.instyle.com/instyle/packa...552203,00.html Right now, my hair is to my mid-back. Thoughts???

So this is bliss! Proud mama to Katie, born gently at home 10/4/09, wife to my nursing student hubby (LPN down, RN here we come!), and coming in September....Katie's little brother!

i'd have to see your current hair to really decide. i typically like long hair though.

My fingers still aren't swelling. (Yay!) In fact, my wedding ring flew right off my hand earlier while I was gesturing during conversation. It then rolled down the sidewalk as I scrambled to get it. It was pretty funny.

I think my ribcage might be starting to expand. It hadn't expanded at all so far... but now my ribs ACHE on my right side. So I figure either they're moving, or I'm just sore from my tiny dude constantly cramming himself over on that side! Either way, owww.

We're ALMOST done moving. It's down to just cleaning the old apartment really. Today I went and vaccuumed the former guinea pig room (guinea pigs + hay/grass + carpet = nightmare), cleaned the stove, mopped the bathroom, swept the whole upstairs (in preparation for mopping), took out three big bags of trash that have been collecting over the past week... phew. Very tiring, but I'm making good progress.

you know actually i think that hairstyle would work really well on you. if you aren't sure about cutting it shorter right now you could always do some layering first (if you don't have those) and see if you like that.

My hair isn't quite to my shoulders, before I was pg I was going shorter and shorter with each cut. Now that I am pg I want to grow it out so that when the baby starts grabbing for my hair I can pull it back in a ponytail Plus I know I won't do any kind of styling when I am sleep deprived with a new baby, right now I can take 5-10 mins to dry it most days. I also have a rule about getting new styles while pg or postpartum. I have had some majorly bad haircuts done (usually post partum) and now have learned that I need to stay away from changing styles for at LEAST 2-3 months after having a baby, those hormone fluctuations have me doing crazy things FWIW I think the style you are considering is really pretty and would be flattering on you! Obviously you make better decisions about hair when hormonal than I do

Heh. I made the same pact with myself... I actually shaved my head in September last year, right around when my tiny dude is due this year. (I'd been dying it pink and was just ready to go back to natural hair again, and, well, I cut it a little too close the skull and it all had to come off. :P) So I think it'll be fun to see how much it grows in a year! It's already back to shoulder lengthish.

But of course, I have to put up with it long enough to find out. And with summer coming, I'm not sure how much of a chance my thick, dark, hot, heavy hair has of making it to September!
