I just wondered if anyone else has been cold all the time since becoming pg? I can't seem to get warm but when I do I over-heat. I don't usually run cold. I've been drinking hot tea (caffeine-free) like crazy. Anyone else have this problem? If so, anyone have luck getting warm again?

I am cold to the pt of it being painful. Just freezing all over. In the evenings dh and I will lie in the guest bedroom and I freak out if he lets any air under the covers! He is usually the cold one and he is always complaining how hot it is under the covers. I have flannel sheets, a warm blanket and then 2 comforters on the bed and I am dressed in sweats, wool socks, long sleeve t, and hooded sweatshirt. I am usually a warm person. Today dd#1 and dh were outside playing and they came in talking about how beautiful it was outside and I really thought it was painfully cold out there. And like pp said, when I finally do get warm I am wayyyy overheated. The only time I am truly comfortable is when I am swimming. The pool is generally in the high 80s

Yes! All of my body heat is concentrated on my uterus! Of course, it doesn't help that it's snowing outside. I'm freezing.
(Let's all check back here at the end of the summer and see how we like being 8 months pregnant in September.)

I'm cold all day and can't get to sleep without a dozen blankets (we even bought a space heater for our bedroom because the electric blanket wasn't cutting it!), but by 5:00 or 6:00 in the morning I am roasting. (My waking temps are usually under 97, so this is a huge change for me!) I've found that a warm cup of tea and a hot shower just before bed are very helpful.

Me too! I live with at least one sweatshirt on, usually two, slippers and a blanket on me all day. But for some reason middle of the night I'm hot. Go figure

At the beginning of winter, I loved the cold. I am generally hot all the time and wait for winter to come so I can be cold but warm in clothes and blankets too...lately though, I have been freezing. Right now I can barely type my fingers are so cold. I never turn the heat past 67 degrees and yesterday it was on 71. I know that sounds cold but it's not...you know! I have been cuddled under blankets and just cold. last pregnancy I was deathly hot!!! Maybe when summer comes that will happen again. I don't know...I'd rather be cold!!!!!!!!!

My hands and feet are blocks of ice.

In the evening especially, I am bundled up in sweats and socks and wrapped in a blanket. ::

I keep hearing that my temp should be higher now that I am pregnant, but man oh man, I have a chill in my bones!

You are so right about saving this thread for the summer when we are all big and hot!

Not in your DDC, but saw this in the "new posts" section when I was scanning...

I was never cold with pregnancies 1 and 2, but was freezing with #3. When I got my initial prenatal bloodwork done, it revealed that my thyroid was underactive, which can be triggered by pregnancy, and can make you cold! I was put on medication to regulate it (a wonky thyroid can be dangerous during pregnancy) and immediately warmed up .

Of course, it's a cold time year so it makes sense that you're chilly, but if you find that you really can't warm up, it might be worth asking your MW/OB/GP to check your levels.

Happy pregnancies, ladies!!!

I was cold through the first trimester with my first as well, and sure enough, TOTALLY freezing all the time now too. It feels like I have fever, which sorta makes sense cause your temp shoots up when you are pregnant.

Yes! I've been cold a lot of the time. Which is *very* unusual for me if it is natural cold (air conditioning is another story). I'm from very far north, and I'm used to the cold. We don't even turn the heat on in the winter to save money and because we can deal with the cold(we live in the south, though). We only turned the heat on to keep the pipes from freezing when it got down to 19 degrees for a few days. We do have a ceramic heater to put in the room we are in, but that is mostly for my husband. I'd rather not even have that on. I usually like it at like 60 degrees (which the house stays around 55 -60 degrees without the heat on in normal weather in the winter).

Anyway, usually I do *not* get cold - but I've been colder than my husband lately and shivering in temperatures I usually would not. So weird.

My office has some HVAC issues so I've been cold there all winter. (I had a thread about using a heating pad for warmth a few weeks ago.) However, at home I'm usually fine and can shed a layer once I get in the door. Not these days. I'm still cold at home. I went looking for an open window. DH says he feels fine and my 3 year is often content to run around naked so I guess it is me.

Thanks for the reminder 3*is*magic. I do have mild thyroid issues and take synthroid. I already had an appointment with my endocrinologist but she doesn't know yet I'm expecting.

I've been completely intolerant of cold this year, don't think it has anything to do with pregnancy as I am 7w3d right now and it's been going on months longer than one.

I found that my dosage fluctuated during pregnancy, and they watched me more closely, so it might be worth a call - even if just to be warmer .

How totally weird! This is me exactly too! I wouldn't have ever guessed it was a common pregnancy thing. I'm usually hot when everyone else is cold. My husband sleeps with 87.6 blankets while I have half of one. But now, geez! My hands & feet are freezing, I'm so cold I can't even stand to get dressed in the morning, & have joined my dh under his 87.6 blankets at night & still get cold. But like you guys have said, when I do finally heat up suddenly I am just DYING of hotness.

LOL, how weird we are.

I have never been what I would call a "cold" person. But, ever since I have gotten pregnant with this baby, I have been chilled, sometimes so badly it hurts.

Then, once I do get the least bit warm, I start hot flashing.

I never experienced any pregnancy symptoms with my two daughters, so my thinking is maybe this one is making up for the other two pregnancies.

I'm glad to see this thread. With my first two, I was a total heat rock. Now, for whatever reason, I just can't seem to get warm during the day - I'm freezing. I'm in long sleeves and sweaters with the heat turned up and I'm still cold. Then, at night, I'm pouring sweat. It's quite strange.
