I love hearing everyone's cute nicknames for their babies. I was planning on calling ours Pumpkin since it's due in October, but my DH had other ideas. We were reading about blastocysts in one of my pregnancy books, and DH thought it was a hilarious word. He started calling the baby Blasto, and it stuck. So, what about everyone else?

My family and I affectionately call the baby "Boobers." It wasn't an "accident" baby, so I'm a little unsure as to why we call it this. Our daughters call the baby "Mama's baby."

But, I'm sure we'll give the baby a different nickname as time progresses and its appearance becomes more defined. Lol.

Ours is Oenie (pronounced Eenie). There's a backstory. When we were first talking about our hypothetical children we decided we needed hypothetical (ridiculous) names. Hypothetical kid #1 was named Eschscholzia, the genus of California Poppy. In need of an equally ridiculous name, we decided kid #2 would be Oenothera, the genus of evening primrose.

DD was "Eschie" in the womb, so this one gets to be "Oenie". In case you hadn't guessed, DP and I are biology (plant and bug) nerds.

With my daughter, we called her sweetpea. I feel bad, but I've been more nervous this pregnancy so I don't feel quite as connected to the baby itself yet. I haven't really referred to it by nickname yet. I guess it will click for me once I hear a heartbeat or feel movement.

Um...nothing? I'm still waiting for my period to come any day now. With no symptoms at all and no evidence except 1 hpt... I guess I'm not real connected yet. If it wasn't for the test I would have no idea I was pregnant.

Little Bean-if we try to tell DD that the baby is a baby brother or sister, she plainly says "No, it's Little Bean." Whenever she shares food with me, she says here's some for mama and Little Bean.

We had a u/s last week and ever since she wants to show everyone pics of L.B. too cute.

"It" at the moment. We called DD "2 of 2" (nerdy Star Trek reference) until we knew she was a girl and could call her by a name.

This baby is "bumble" Dd1 was monkey in the womb and dd2 was sprout, but they switched to "bear" and "boo" when they were born. So we're starting with a B nickname now.

Right now pumpkin seed, and Baby J. We know what names we are using and my whole family is J's. But we are not sharing the names with anyone this time.

My friends who are mad that I won't share names are saying Baby Jesus, as we have a Spanish last name... lol

Because of the October due date, this baby is Boo. Our first baby (had a m/c) was Jebediah, because dh's brother and sister's sons are Josiah and Jonah, and we joked that we needed a J___ah name. Ds was Percival, because we both liked the name but didn't want to use it as an "after birth" name. Dd was Remus, because it means quick, and she was conceived the first month trying (much to our shock, after ds taking a couple of years).

Lisa , mom to Isaac (9/1/03), Violet (6/19/06), Simon (10/9/09); wife to Eric ; handservant to Grace :

DH think we're having another boy and calls the baby 'Kevin', which our DS has picked up on. So, it's Baby Kevin for now, even though I really think it's a girl. I told DH we'll have to switch over baby names after our ultrasound to find out the gender so DS goes end up calling his little sister Kevin! LOL!

The Lobster.

I'm not sure I really love it so I may lobby for a name change but we'll see. At least it's unique. I got a BFP on Valentine's Day, and we went out for a romantic meal. We started talking about pet names and I suggested the usuals like Peanut or Bean. DH didn't like those so I started suggesting random things we saw on our table: Fork, Plate, Flower Vase, Menu. Then we got our main course, which was Lobster. And it was delicious. And we were both like, "Lobster!" And so far that's what we've been calling our little lobster.

Becca, mommy to my little pumpkin DS (10/09)

Mostly Bean or Rainbow Baby. DD calls the baby 'little sister' but I think it's a boy.

Though my 4yo has taken to using "Burger Seed." When we told the kids about the pregnancy, I told them the baby was as little as a sesame seed on a hamburger bun.

DH & I always call it zygote or blastocyst. A couple weeks ago I was showing my 10 yr old a picture from A Child is Born to show him about what our baby looks like now & he said it looked just like a "crazy camel larva". So that's stuck & now the poor kid's our "crazy camel larva".

Beanie or Beaner at the moment. Sometimes I think of it as Sea Monkey. I'm sure once it starts moving around and developing and "in womb" personality, the name will change.
