Anyone's lo still doing this besides mine????/??
I have started a routine with him now... naps is dark room, sound machine, swaddle blanket, pacy. I walk with him until he conks out and then put him down on the bed or in the crib or swing.. and 20 min later he is awake... even if he is in the swing.
What gives?????
The only time he doesnt do it is at night. We have a bedtime routine now.. dark room, sound machine, sleep sack... nurse until conked out... burp, puke, nurse some more and then he is placed on his belly in his crib and he will sleep at least from 730 pm till 10... sometimes till 1 or 2 or 3.
So why the 15 min naps during the day? He is still so tired when he wakes up and I end up putting him back down in a hour.. which gives us like 4 or 5 tiny naps and no good long ones.
I tried placing him on his belly for naps but he is still up in 15 min . I don't get it!!!! He is just so tired and not getting enough daytime rest for sure. I wish there was something I could do to make him sleep longer besides hold him all day which I can't because I have a toddler.

I am right there with you and I wish i had the answer. He will sleep at night for at least 5,6 or even 7 hours at a time, but during the day it's an entirely different situation. Unless of course we go for a ride and he is in his carseat. He will often take two and three hour naps in there. All I can contribute that to is that the car ride gets him into a sound sleep and during the day i'm not able to do that and he wakes to the slightest noise. I start my internship on Monday and it will be interesting to see what daycare says his schedule is like.

the ONLY place millie sleeps is in my arms and very, very rarely in the carseat after scream-a-thon. yesterday, if i breathed deeply she woke up. 20 minutes IN A PLACE BESIDES ON ME would be a blessing at this point. somedays, i get so touched out that i feel all skeevy if anyone else touches me. not. fun.

*sigh* Yes, we're still battling this same issue at 3.5 months. She also wakes every 3 hours at night too. I find it peculiar that none of my friends or acquaintances in real life have this problem, but that several of us on this board do. And I'm sure this issue runs through every DDC ya know?

If anyone can figure out how to get a child to maintain their sleep through the changing sleep cycles, I would be SO grateful to know the secret. I'm desperate for some breaks throughout the day.

My 1st was like that. Stopped napping at all at 18 months and still needs little sleep at age 7. My others were much better. This baby is a doll about napping which is good because when he is awake all he does is vomit. I think it is his body trying to heal its self

i agree with cb. i think that's just how some kids are. my first was never a snuggler, but she needed very little sleep AND she vomited! she still requires very little sleep and is a very active (check out my fb statuses!) basketball star. millie is up every 2 hrs at night which is considerably better than it used to be. s!!!

wanted to add: i think we ap parents notice things more because we usually just give up trying for independent sleep and just hold our babies.

My little guy has just started waking more frequently during naps in his swing. Yesterday I wore him and he slept in the pouch all afternoon. I think my lo gets cold and/or needs to feel enclosed. I put him in his moses basket in a room with somewhat loud music and he conked out and stayed out. If I put him in the swing, he's awake 20 minutes later at the slightest noise. I'm going to try the moses basket/pouch more and the swing less.

Same here. Except DS goes for 30 minutes. There have only been 3 times he's slept longer than that during the day. He is super sensitive to noise so that doesn't help. It is so frustrating! And, if DH wakes him up accidentally one more time, I'm going to scream!

Mine has recently started doing this, but in our case I suspect a food reaction (she has been a bit gassy, and there's a red area around her anus). I think it's either dairy or wheat but it could be shellfish.

Mine does the opposite. She sleeps WONDERFULLY during the day and stays up all night usually.

Yeah, they say that they either sleep well during the day or at night, not both. I'll take the lousy naps over the lousy nighttime sleep any time.

Yep, Lyra doesn't nap for longer that 30 minutes usually, either, unless she is in the sling.

Every time I've put her on the couch in the nursing pillow, she wakes up, or one of the dogs will come and lick her face and wake her

Me too! Theo will nap for 25 minutes tops- unless I stay in bed with him- He wants to use my boob as a pillow, or else he moves around and wakes up- thankfully he sleeps well at night because he sleeps in the crook of my arm against me. The only positive thing about the short nap thing is that it has forced me to lay down with him and rest so he will nap longer- otherwise I would be up cleaning. However eventually my other kids need me, so I try to put a wedge on either side when I get up to give him the illusion of being held- this only works for 5-10 minutes. sigh....

Lucky! DD3 wants to use me for a paci in bed, so I have to keep one out. She doesn't do it continously, but I will feel her nudge me every once in awhile to do it during the night. It just all feels very awkward!

Ds was like that, i had to either wear him (and had to keep moving) or lie down with him for him to sleep. I could lie down and read with him though at least. Got a lot of reading done then! DD is much easier, and sometimes will even just pass out if I swaddle her and lay down. But not always.

Lu doesn't love swaddling at first but after enough shushing and bouncing, she buys into it and falls asleep. However, since she wakes up (always) after about 10 minutes, she becomes enraged that someone has restrained her in this manner and will SCREAM bloody murder.
