So last night around 10, I went to the washroom and a huge gush of blood came out. Of course I freaked out and we called the midwife, who met us at the hospital. (Luckily my mom is in town and was here to watch DD). They found the heartbeat right away and the baby started kicking. My midwife said that it looked like there was some cervical erosion that could be causing the bleeding and that the cervix was still long and closed. I go for an ultrasound this morning to rule out bleeding from the placenta and placental separation.

Please cross your fingers that it is just my sensitive cervix and that the placenta is ok. (It's not previa, as the 20 week ultrasound showed my placenta nice and high away from the cervix) I'm a little freaked out, as we are only at 21 weeks. The bleeding has stopped, so I'm feeling a bit more hopeful.

I'll update this afternoon

So I had my ultrasound this morning. The good news is the baby looks great. The bad is that there is a placental bleed. I'm not sure what this means at this point, as I'm waiting to hear back from the midwife. The doctor in ultrasound said to take it easy and all we can do is wait.

I'm really hoping this resolves on it's own *sigh*

Glad to hear the babe is doing well. If it's any consolation, I had a subchorionic hematoma (blood clot) burst at 5 weeks and bled for 3-4 days. It was very frightening but the placenta is amazing and can heal sometimes. I haven't had any bleeding since.

I hope everything turns out ok mamma.

Well, good news is that the bleeding has stopped

I'm on modified rest, which is really really hard with my active toddler. The result is that she isn't getting enough activity during the day, so not sleeping much in the night... nursing every hour . She *had* started to sleep for a 7 hour stretch. So the lack of sleep is hard.

My midwife questioned my protein intake and oops! I figure I was only eating 30-50 grams a day eep! The looks like there were some previous bleeds on the placenta. I'm now tracking my protein and trying to take in 100g/day. This is really really hard as I can't eat dairy and am pretty turned off food in general. We usually eat a fairly vegetarian diet, but I'm finding the thought of my usual proteins, such as beans, gross. I have started eating eggs again and am going to make some chickpea bread. I also got a thing of brown rice protein powder and have been making smoothies.

I will find out more on Tuesday when I have my midwifes appt. I'm really hoping to find out how much activity is ok. Like can I climb the playground equipment with my DD? Because if I don't get her out for more activity, we are both going to go insane!
