Wife to DH DS 98 DD 03 DS 09
She is here!!! Oct 5th!!!
And, we are halfway through (or farther) our pregnancies. The babies themselves still have another 5-9 lbs. to gain, the placenta will keep getting bigger, your blood volume is still increasing. You'll need some extra fat stores to give the baby nourishment as you are breastfeeding. Don't sweat it - just eat healthy, drink lots of fluids, do some exercise every day and you and baby will be fine.
As for weight gain, it could be any number of things that wouldn't be a cause for concern.
- baby had a growth spurt
- you were weighed before peeing rather than after this time
- you forgot to take your shoes off before stepping on the scale
- you just had a big meal before your appointment
- the person moving the weights wasn't especially careful
I'm consoling myself that I weighed myself in the afternoon, after two bowls of cereal and a couple glasses of water and no bathroom time.... I wouldn't have possibly gained that much weight in 3 weeks.... right?!
I haven't gained that much this time so I am waiting for it to come.
i love my life!!!
Ok, now I'm craving caramels too! Thanks a lot!!
*off to the store*
In my case I have to convince DH to make me some, because all the ones at the store have milk in them.
Well, I suppose I could make them myself, but I tend to burn caramel more than anything else. A candymaker I am just not.
The vanilla ice cream drowned in hersheys syrup that I'm craving doesn't help, either
Momma to DD (12/04) and DS (11/09) .
I survived 16 mos! Ask me about breastfeeding a baby with posterior tongue tie, high palate, and weak oral motor skills- whew!
Except, I don't really want to ban you because throwing up for 20 weeks is no fun at all. I'll send all further weight gain on my part over to your parts. Ok? Ok. :
The nurse said if I gain 1 lb a week for the rest of the pregnancy, I will be at 34 overall.. not bad for a "normal" person, but since I started off overweight (technically, "obese") that 20 lbs would be good for me. Um... excuse me?? I am allowed to gain TWO MORE POUNDS for the rest of the pregnancy??
I don't intend to gain 100 lbs. With DD, I gained 32. I figure that isn't too bad....... of course, now I want caramel too, and with our insurance fiasco (see thread), all I want to do is stress eat! And we are moving on Monday- more stress!

I am so glad nobody's reply was "what the heck is wrong with you? PUT DOWN THE FORK!?" or something.
no, we're not mean like that
i've gained...uhmm...not sure, but definitely more in the past few weeks than i had been!
caramel is a regular thing for me to crave anyhow, but didja have to mention ice cream too??? i totally woulda forgot i had some in the freezer, but now.... at least it's fat-free
Freethinking Earth-mama of five.
Definitely a growth spurt here, I look pregnant now!
Fruit just sounds so unappealing compared to ice cream! I wish I had some caramel. I have to make hot fudge sauce and caramel at work. NO WONDER I gained so much! I have to taste it, of course... sometimes several times, on ice cream..
