With DS - I bled/shed so heavily the first 4 days I was using the ultra-super sposie pads and changing them every hour during the day and every couple of hours at night. After that I switched to just "light days" pads for about 2 weeks and then I was done. I don't think I lost any more/less than average - it was just over a very short time period. After the 2nd day, I actually used Depends for the next two days so I didn't leak through.

I'm tempted to do cloth this time around, but if I do a repeat, I don't think I'll have enough for 12+ changes a day with really heavy flow. I hate sposie pads - some make me break out is hives. (My son also reacts this way to most sposie diapers). I'd appreciate any ideas for super-capacity cloth, short of seriously bulking up with prefolds. I've used cloth pads for my usually light periods.

I don't bleed very heavy either, or very long. However, my collection of mama pads isn't what it needs to be so therefore at first it will likely be the flats or cheap prefolds. A pail w/ peroxide- I never thought of that one! I have just the bucket. Dh will be off the first 2 weeks anyway- so I *should* have plenty of help although taking care of cloth pads or diapers is really easy- change as normal- thow in a pail. Pail is full throw in washer- when done throw in diaper- Fold them- 5 min OR just put them in baskets- viola- nothing to it.

I used Depends for the first few days last time; they are great.

But I really ant to do cloth pads for the rest this time. Anyone recommend any that aren't too pricey??

i've made some cloth pads, that's what i'll be using.
they are so easy to make!! i've used a ton of scrap flannel, i haven't used PUL or anything but i've never had leakage.. just quilt batting in the middle, making some thicker or thinner.
i've traced around a big regular commercial pad with wings for the pattern...
is there someone who could sew some for you? they really are insanely easy to make...

Is it getting lonely in the echo chamber yet?
