OK - without getting into any debate about the issues involved, just a show of hands of who IS or HAS gotten the seasonal flu vaccine, and who IS planning on getting the H1N1 vaccine, and who ISN'T:

I have gotten the seasonal flu vaccine.
Still on fence re: H1N1. Head is spinning. I will probably end up getting it though.

Regular flu shot here and I am not comfortable with the H1N1 shot and if they had combinded it I would not have gotten the regular flu shot.

I've gotten the regular flu vax for 20 years (Army), incl the one year I was pregnant, with no ill effects, so I'll probably get that one. And I'm feeling the same about H1N1. But nothing for our 2 year old, thanks. She's still nursing - I'm betting a lot on that keeping her safe, just as it has the last two flu seasons. My DH (also US Army) will be getting regular flu vax and probably H1N1, though he'll shoot for the shot and not the mist.

Me, my Sweetie , DD 1 (Dec 07),  and DD 2 (Dec 09). Co-sleeping, delayed-vaxing, quia Lutherans!

Neither. I don't ever get them and neither do my kiddos. DH said he is considering getting it for one main reason. He is currently out of our winter state and in the PNW. When he comes back here he will be coming during cold season and would like to avoid getting sick/as sick if possible.

FIL gets it every year. He also gets the flu every year and ends up on antibiotics for it.

DH and I are both getting H1N1 but not seasonal... don't want to tax my system too badly and from DH's research the seasonal flu probably won't be an issue because H1N1 has probably crowded it out already. I don't ususally get the flu vax, but DH always does. DD (3) will probably get H1N1 also.

I didn't want the seasonal vaccine, I've never had it before and only get the flu every 3 years or so and I had it this past March for about 24 hours, but my OB pressured me and kept saying "Its safe, its safe blahblah" so I gave in and got it, luckily it was thimersol free.

As for H1N1, I was debating this in my head for a long time and finally decided not to get the vaccine no matter what. I finally researched the ingredients in it, and that's what made me say "HELL NO!" (it has tissue/cells from aborted human fetuses in it )

I think this was important factor in our choice, too...we homeschool our children and Sir Hubby owns his own biz and can choose to stay home or go to his (private) office to work. Other than trips to the grocery (which we usually only do late at night in off-peak hours) we are fairly crowd-free in our life. I would have to say that the last time anyone had more than the tiniest of sniffle was almost 5 years ago when our oldest was still in public school. I think that lifestyle definitely plays a BIG role! If our kids were in school, or we both worked with the public in any way, our choice might be different.

I haven't yet, but I mean to. I don't get flu shots most years, but do when there's a "reason."

Sorry for the off-topic post in a theoretically non-debating thread, but I just wanted to say that I believe it to be untrue that the H1N1 vaccine uses a fetal cell line. Instead, it is made in chicken eggs. Several pro-life organizations have put out press releases to this effect.

Won't have the seasonal flu vaccine, I'm not in a high risk group for that. Will have the H1N1 if it becomes available over here whilst I'm still pregnant- the first batch has only just arrived in the country. I'm high risk for exposure, having kids in school and being married to a teacher, and high risk for complications, being pregnant.
