Ok so I was feeling a little crampy last Friday when I went to my OB and he told me I was in early labor. Also Saturday when the rest of my mucus plug came out. By Sunday I started feeling better and now it's Wednesday and it's like I wasn't even in labor at all- I feel totally fine... *huh?*

Thoughts? Baby still seems to be moving- but he seems to be hanging out at zero station. I do feel like I have a giant tampon in my vagina. But that's it- aside from that I'm not even cramping.

It's a variation of normal. Your mucus plug may grow back, which is ridiculously depressing when ith appens, your cervix may stay dilated or may contract, baby can go up or down or anything.

Sucks, doesn't it? For me, I stayed in that exceptionally fine state until my waters broke and then had the kid fairly quickly.

Yeah, I've stopped having pelvic exams because they cause me too much stress. I'm 4-5cm and a mucus plug factory...I've been losing it for over 2 weeks. My mw made the joke that I'd have the baby today because I've gone into labor the past two Wednesdays...still nothing. I don't think he's coming today.

What your cervix is doing now has very little to do with what it's going to do..even in the very near future.

I walked around at 5cm dilated for over 2 weeks before my induction for pre-eclampsia. This was after 10 weeks of bedrest for pre-term labor starting at 26 weeks. It happens.

sounds like your body is warming up! sometimes it happens in stages! I, too, would not stress over vaginal exams or what your cervix is doing. when it's time, it can go from nothing to full out labor!

As is always the case, any work you do now is less work you'll be doing while in active labor.
Maybe think of it this way, YOU'RE HALFWAY THERE!

You'll be holding your lo before you know it. Hang in there.

fwiw, I didn't have a single vag exam until I knew I was in labor. You could just stop with the checking.
