GIRL

We had an elective ultrasound Saturday and it was awesome to see JingleBelle in a relaxed, non-medical environment. We did not want to learn gender when I first became pregnant but after so many losses, we felt we were holding this baby at arm's length. We really wanted to get to know this baby in a personal way. We are very happy we found out. All of our tests have been normal and this u/s was like the icing on the cake. I am thrilled to have a healthy baby and look forward to being a girl mommy!

We are thinking of Edelweiss.

Legend of the German Edelweiss

According to Alpine folklore, suitors proved their love by climbing high crags of the Alps in search of the flower. Tragically, many suitors fell to their death or died of exposure to the weather. The Edelweiss is still worn today as a symbol of love, bravery, strength, and dedication.

As many of you know, we lost three babies before conceiving this little one. I love the name Edelweiss and I think it is a beautiful representation of this baby's journey to us. I hope she likes it too.

congrats!

now, you must share - do you know what the baby's heartrate has been? i keep seeing that if it averages over 141 it's a girl and under 140 it's a boy. i keep wondering how accurate that is.

How exciting! And how encouraging that it's possible to have a baby of the opposite gender after 3 of the same. I'm hoping for a boy since we've got 3 beautiful little girls already.

I know they have done studies to debunk the heart rate theory but....JingleBelle's heart rate has always been on the high end. It was 160 at 12 weeks and is now in the high 140s and low 150s. My boys were in the supposed "boy range" of 140 and below!

interesting! i guess we'll start to see how accurate it is soon enough now that most of us are getting close to being able to know or already know.

wonder if we should start a poll on it? do our own little bit of unscientific research.

I don't recall ever having a baby have a heartrate under 140, and I've got 3 girls so far. They've mostly been in the 150's as far as I can remember. This one was in the 160's last time, I won't be surprised if it's another girl.
