I didn't see one started, so I figured I would start this week's thread.

Name:
Weeks/Days along:
Appointments:
Symptoms:
Food:
Exercise:
Body changes and other milestones:
Thoughts:

For me:

Weeks/Days along: 18w4d
Appointments: I'm going to see a chiro tonight. It's my second visit and I will probably not return for another month.
Food: I'm eating too much. I've been making healthy choices, but eating 5 oranges and a bag of carrots (exaggeration ) in one sitting doesn't really help matters.
Exercise: I'm doing 2 miles/30 minutes on Monday through Friday. This is my third week going strong!
Body changes and other milestones: No noticeable baby bump yet. I'm starting to feel little movements that I think are the baby. I felt a couple of ... kicks? two nights in a row. I'm excited for movement to be regular.
Thoughts: I am really trying hard to curb the weight gain. I'm having a hard time seeing the scale creep up, especially when I look like I have a belly full of beer, not baby.

Weeks/Days along:18 weeks exactly

Appointments: I have one scheduled for tomorrow

Symptoms: Still having some indigestion issues, but not as bad as before. I think I'm going to have to start eating smaller more frequent meals. Although it will be hard considering I work outside of the home full time, but it's better than being uncomfortable bloated.

Food: I'm doing pretty good with food. My appetite has decreased a lot now that I'm in the 2nd trimester. 1st trimester I stayed hungry 24/7.

Exercise: Super proud of myself. I've still been doing cardio and weight training about 4 to 5 days out of the week.

Body changes and other milestones: I definitely have a bump. I just got my first 'when are you due?' comment from a complete stranger last week. I didn't think I was showing that much! Hmmm, what else. I've been feeling tons of movement lately. This one's way more active than DD was.

Thoughts: I'm just amazed at how fast this pregnancy is going. I can't believe I'm almost at the halfway mark. Woo Hoo!!!

Weeks/Days along: 16 weeks and 2 days
Appointments: Just had one yesterday, and I got the hear the heartbeat for the first time. Really nice. We also priced the whole thing out and I think it is going to be really affordable to have a homebirth, so I am dead excited!
Symptoms: Terrible diarreah, and stretching ligaments like mad. My MS is gone, and I am so hungry all the time. It sort of sucks, because after eating I just want to take a big nap.
Food: pretty much anything that's not nailed down, but specifically, mixed nuts, salads, and fruit. Sorbet is my favorite treat lemon-blueberry, orange raspberry, watermelon. I could eat it everyday and I don't feel guilty. I am eating a big jar of pickles every week...but I do that when I'm not pregnant, so I have no excuse.
Exercise: I have a hyper active four year old so going to the gym is sort of superfulous. I walk about 1 hour a day around town and play like a four year old for two hours everyday...I am still gaining weight faster than they say is "good":.
Body changes and other milestones: I have a belly bump, but the average person would just think I was getting chunky. I told a woman at the beach last week that I was about four months along and she said "You can't even tell yet! You're so NOT showing!" and I was like , I am SO! I am NOT usually this big in the middle! I have an hourglass figure, usually...now I look more like a watermelon with sausage appendages...and I have five months to go? I am so glad I already know I can lose it. Makes it so much easier to let go and just grow a baby.
Thoughts: I am SO excited to go back to work. We have been on summer vacation since MAY and I cannot wait to see everyone again and make the news public.

The baby bump will be apparent soon, don't despair. I think it is NOW when the most weight gain is supposed to happen.

Appointments: next appointment is August 13
Symptoms: tired, headaches, moodiness, my right hip keeps locking up on me.. which my mom said happened to her during pregnancy and yoga doesn't seem to be helping much
Food: strawberries, tomato soup + peanut butter sandwiches
Exercise: yoga
Body changes and other milestones: belly is showing a bit, can still fit in to some pre-pregger pants but my bella band is used quite frequently, got fitted for a maternity bra and went up a cup size + a band size already.. but have only gained 4 lbs, feeling baby move a little bit, nothing too major yet but looking forward to when DH and I can experience it together.. Trying really hard to not go out and buy a doppler so we can listen to the HB daily

Weeks/Days along: 15 weeks, 2 days
Appointments: None
Symptoms: Most nausea gone, but occasionally lingers
Food:Trying to get the protein in, but it is hard-any ideas besides chicken breast? Had a terrible craving for processed cereal. Got some grape nuts and frosted wheaties? Stopped eating that stuff over a year ago.
Exercise: 1-2 times per week, forcing it.
Body changes and other milestones: Baby belly is there, but you would have to KNOW I am pregnant
Thoughts: VERY, VERY, VERY emotional in the last almost week. Crying at a lot of things. Today went to the gym and watched teenagers practicing at their hip-hop dance team and started crying. I looked at them and thought what wonderful kids they all are and how confident they were! I wondered if I could produce my two girls to end up doing something like that, and how much more proud I would be of them! Also, just looking into other little girls eyes in the gym today(I was without my kids) would make me cry. The sweetness, and the importance of their lives! The severly important job a parent has in the life of a innocent child. It is just an awesome responsibility.

Is this normal emotions for the second trimester, or can over-emotion happen anytime during the pregnancy. I remember it more usually closer to the end.

Super mom to a 5 1/2 year old girl, almost 4 yr old girl, and 2 year old boy.

Weeks/Days along:
17w3d
Appointments: had my one and only appt. four weeks ago; waiting to hear from my midwives to schedule another. I'm relaxed, but would like to hear from them kind of soon as I'm getting closer to 20 weeks!
Symptoms: Hmm... insomnia. Wicked tired during the day but can't sleep at night.
Food: Okay. Eating a lot. Gaining about a pound a week. Keeping it mostly healthy.
Exercise: I started karate at my son's school about two weeks ago. My midwives laughed out loud when I filled them in on this plan, but they didn't think it was a bad idea. (They had suggested yoga and swimming, blech to both)
Body changes and other milestones: Ugh. Still not really showing, but I look thick and chunky. You'd think with #4 I'd show by now.
Thoughts: This is going by soooo fast. With my first I was young and time moved like molasses; now I'm older and I just began my homeschool year today with the three kids. I'm so busy I barely realize I am pregnant.

Thanks! Am I allowed to admit that what you posted in body changes is what irks me about not having a baby bump? It is vain, but I hate looking like a watermelon with sausage appendages (exactly how I think I look, btw. lol!). Hmph!

Weeks/Days along: 14w 5days
Appointments: I have one coming up in a week or so and then we're supposed to schedule the second u/s for a couple of weeks from that
Food: I'm doing pretty well keeping it healthy. I've decided just to keep things like ice cream and cake out of the house so that I'm not even tempted. I eat plenty of fruit, whole grains, and protein but I think I'm slacking on the veggie front so I picked up a couple of jugs of V8 and have been drinking a glass of that each day.
Exercise: I need to get better at being consistant! I work as a waitress so I'm on my feet all day, but that's different from actual working out. I've been working 6 days a week this past month though, and I'm pretty worn out from that. I've been lifting weights and doing lunges and stuff like that at least once a week but I've gotta kick it up a bit.
Body changes and other milestones: Well, my natural waist used to measure 26 and my belly was 28 and now they're at 27 and 32 respectively, so I've definitely gained around the middle. Still fitting into my regular pants with the pony-tail trick but I have gone up to Mediums in underwear
Thoughts: I'm so moody! Usually it's a kind of happy sensitive moodiness and I've noticed that I cry all the time, but in a good way. It's not all good though, DH and I are fighting right now and playing the cold-shoulder game and I think that it might be a bit more drawn out than it would normally be because I'm just not ready to get over it yet. So yeah, moody.

Married 12/08 to Chilean DH and mama to DD 2/2/10. We're a bilingual home and we familybed1.gif and toddler.gif

Expecting #2 in late June!

Weeks/Days along: 15 or 16 ish
Appointments: Tomorrow! I haven't had an appointment for a month and I have been all worried. Of course today I finally feel pretty certain baby movements and my belly has all of a sudden gotten much larger. I still can't wait to hear the heartbeat!
Symptoms: I have off days, but better every week. Some days I still need a nap and some days I still can't eat much.
Food: Still not my friend.
Exercise: Registered for yoga.
Body changes and other milestones: As mentioned, belly is now very pregnant, baby movement!
Thoughts: I was just going crazy with wanting to know if we are having a boy or a girl, but for some reason today I am leaning towards not knowing. I think because I feel like I am putting too much importance on it and I don't want to spend months feeling let down if it's not what I "want". I've been reading Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and it's the best thing I have read about birth to date. I have gone from crying to my midwife about how scared I was about birth due to my daughters birth, to thinking maybe I really can do a home birth!

Regarding EMOTIONS -- yes, you can be totally emo start to finish with a pregnancy! I certainly was with DD and am again this time, getting weepy over commercials, bad song lyrics, etc etc.

Regarding WANTING TO KNOW THE GENDER -- I am going through the same thing, sunshadow!! I remember feeling the same way at about this time during my pregnancy with DD. Just obsessing like crazy. It got easier later on. I feel like I'm even more keyed up this time because we really, really want a little sister for our daughter. But we are not finding out, because I think it will be harder to feel disappointed if it is a boy and we're holding him, kwim??

As for me...

Name: Lauren
Weeks/Days along: 16 exactly
Appointments: Prenatal tomorrow
Symptoms: Indigestion in the evening sometimes, ligament pain, having to pee x1000. Also this week I've been TOTALLY EXHAUSTED. Hello, growth spurt!! I think our babies put on about 2 inches between weeks 15 and 17!
Food: Although nausea is gone, my appetite is in the crapper. Most food still sounds bad, and in the evenings I just don't feel like eating. I swear for the last week, I've eaten almost exclusively cooked sushi rolls. I'm wondering if I've gained any weight at all! I'm kind of worried about it, but will see what the midwife says. I'm sure this phase will pass soon enough, but it's kind of weird to go from being starving and sick to being unhungry (especially since with dd, the nausea lingered until about week 17 and then I went into the part where you eat everything and anything you can find constantly).
Exercise: :
Body changes and other milestones: Fundus definitely higher, but still look merely pudgy. Know I will feel movement any day now -- have felt a few possible flutters, just waiting on that convincing kick to let me know it really is our LO. With DD, I felt movement at the end of week 17.
Thoughts: Moving into the real second tri, where I don't constantly feel like ass, has been nice. I'm really excited about feeling the baby and have generally felt really loving and happy about getting to know this little person. I'm letting myself enjoy the real possibility of having another girl, rather than obsessing over the OMGWTF if we have a boy. My daughter has become really loving towards her baby dolls and other babies, which makes me think she will be such a wonderful big sister. Overall I've been feeling very happy about the pregnancy lately.

I'm in grad school and am a TA, so we're busy with the gear-up towards classes starting. This has been very distracting, which is kind of nice! Time will fly once classes are in session, and this baby will likely be born during our winter break, so it's weird to think that once school is out, my pregnancy will practically be over.

I've been obsessing over what carseat to get for this LO. We have a Britax Marathon for DD which we love. We got a free convertible carseat that isn't nearly as nice that I thought we'd move DD into, but now I'm thinking she deserves a nice seat, too! We could just stick the less nice convertible in DH's car so he has an option for Robin, and get another nice carseat for her or the baby. But dang, they're expensive!!

Don't know why this is on my mind

I've been doing some post partum doulaing, which means I get to cuddle a newborn baby girl and ohhhhhhh -- I forgot how lovely those tiny, quiet (non-screaming, non-wiggly!) babies can be!!

Lauren (33), writer, recovering academic, WOHM to a highly sensitive child (Robin, Feb '08) and mellow little Holly (Jan '10). Newly diagnosed Bipolar I. rolleyes.gif

Is it okay if I admit that sometimes I push my tummy out harder to look more pregnant than I am because I don't want people to think I am just chunky?

Weeks/Days along: 18 weeks 2 days
Appointments: not until 8/18
Symptoms: headaches, heartburn, sleepy, very hungry :
Food: pizza, salads, cereal (Kashi's Strawberry Fields is my fav!)
Exercise: some hiking...not as much as I should be doing, but definitly owrking my way back into it.
Body changes and other milestones: getting a bigger belly-in maternity clothes full time now; starting to feel more movement
Thoughts: I feel better this week than last...I was really cranky last week. I am starting to get excitred about planning meals, getting a few new things for this baby, thinking about my homebirth, reading more pg books. I feel like I am finally truly excited...although I have been from the start-the physical symptoms somewhat halted all the excitement...does that make sense? Anyway-things are good~I am happy to be gorwing another baby and my family.

Weeks/Days along: 15 w 5 d
Appointments: Had a mw visit on Monday! Got to hear the heartbeat finally!
Symptoms: m/s seems to be slowly lifting. I feel more like my old self. I stopped taking Reglan almost two weeks ago and I swear I feel better without it.
Food: Finally able to eat cereal in the morning again. Craving lots of salt/protein. Since we moved back from California, I haven't had sushi in 2 months, which is way too long for me. I NEED SUSHI.
Exercise: Got a prenatal vinyasa yoga DVD. Now if only I could find time to use it! I'm trying to go on more walks with the dog now, too. After two months of doing nothing, I need to start slow.
Body changes and other milestones: Definitely a bump there, now that the bloating is gone.
Thoughts: DH asked last night if I felt attached to the baby now that we heard the heartbeat. I said no. I think he was a little surprised. Right now all I'm feeling is relief. The baby still seems like an abstract idea to me!

Weeks/Days along: 17w4d
Appointments: Need to make an appt. with backup OB to get my ultrasound
Food: I'm eating tons of food and finally gaining a bit of weight. I burn so much off that it's a struggle to gain, so I am happy to see my butt getting bigger
Exercise: Just started up again, been doing a bit of yoga and cardio, need to step it up soon!
Body changes and other milestones: I've got a belly. Oh yeah, now the rest of me just needs to catch up. Baby has been wiggling all around and my husband has got to feel the baby moving several times. So exciting. My boobs are still hella sore, but I am making colostrum and my dd's poop is pretty soft because of that I think.
Thoughts: Having a lot of memories of dd's birth and infancy, trying to feel strong about things this time. I'm so in love with this baby already and can't wait to find out if baby is a boy or a girl!

Weeks/Days along: Not keeping track at the moment

Appointments: Chiro tonight (UPing so no other appts)

Symptoms: Aversions and Nausea hit... I have never had nausea with my others, nor did I have it in the first trimester...it just hit me though...

Food: Eating Sushi is no problem... I love it and it just always goes down so well (especially sashimi, spicy scallop rolls and tuna and salmon Kamikaze rolls)... other things are hit and miss...I can't make anything that needs to simmer or cook for while so I end up making meals that I don't eat... lately the easiest thing (besides sushi) to go down is bagel with goat cheese and hot pepper jelly...

Exercise:a lot of pool time with the boys and walking

Body changes and other milestones: the Uterus is growing and growing... everything is getting tighter including some of the maternity stuff I have...

Thoughts: I listened to the heart again the other day and was amazed to hear an actual thumping sound (not just the usual HB, cord or placenta sounds)... it was the first time that I heard it so clearly!!

I have to admit that I feel the same... it is still very abstract right now... I was like this a bit with ds#3 also but not to the same extent... it is like deep down I am not allowing myself to get too attached...

Symptoms:growing belly, tired, cranky

Food: anything that isn't nailed down.

Exercise: aquafit 3x a week

Body changes and other milestones: yep, definitely a belly....I'm surprised how many women are saying they DON'T have a belly yet!

Thoughts: Kinda bored with this pregnancy, nothing too exciting going on yet. Doing lots of planning - looking at the local ads for a van, and trying to figure out where this one is going to sleep.

Not feeling particularly bonded, but not worried because that always takes some time with me (DS was about 6mos before I felt more than the urge to love and protect)

cheers,
charlene

Ha! I did the same thing at the park. A couple of women were talking and I hope they were not talking about me! I don't think they were. One said "No, she was pregnant." The other one said, "Really? I thought she was just fat!" and the first lady said "It was totally round. She's pregnant."

I hate feeling like people think I am "fat" at this stage. It just seems like so many people think if you are pregnant you are automatically huge. I tell people I am pregnant and they are like "What? Really? But, you don't look pregnant." It's like the first half of pregnancy isn't acknowledged by most people!

Name: Dayna

Weeks/Days along: 17w 1d

Appointments: none this week

Symptoms: Enough with the vivid, all-night-long dreams already!!! I feel like all I do is dream, dream, get up and go to the bathroom, dream, dream, get up and go to the bathroom...repeat. I just don't get quality sleep! I get very tired mid-afternoon. I am still bothered by some food/food commercials, but it's nothing like it was 2 months ago. I've also had some pains/cramping to speak of, but it's all good.

Food: I have to have taco meat in the fridge all the time. It's been my friend for weeks now. I make full blown tacos all the time, even for breakfast. I'm beginning to want chocolate again, and struggling with a sudden desire for soda. I keep the 365 stuff in the fridge for emergencies. Loving cherry tomatoes.

Exercise: Doing a lot of walking.

Body changes and other milestones: I showed so early because I still had a stomach from my last pregnancy (). There was no hiding that fluffiness a month or so into this. I'm hoping to round out a bit more soon.

Thoughts: Everything about this pregnancy has been so very different from my one with dd. I am eager to feel the baby move and hoping that it will help me not forget so often during the day that I'm pregnant. I am also hoping for good things with my midwifery practice. I was so discouraged last pregnancy with the GD label, and want to navigate the testing, etc. better this time. Hoping this practice is a little less "tow the party line," if you kwim.

married to my best friend since july of '93... mama to sage, who came when the pumpkins came in '05... and logan, who came with the hoar frost in january '10

DH asked last night if I felt attached to the baby now that we heard the heartbeat. I said no. I think he was a little surprised. Right now all I'm feeling is relief. The baby still seems like an abstract idea to me!
This is how I was feeling until I started feeling the bug moving on Monday! I was just telling Dh tonight that it feels so much more real now that I have that confirmation that there really is someone in there wiggling around.

Oh man, maybe that explains it! I'm just starting 15th week, but suddenly I've been feeling nearly as tired as I did during the worst of the first trimester. I thought this whole extreme exhaustion thing was over... apparently not.

I absolutely find myself sort of "cradling" my belly with my hands when we're in public and I'm pretty sure it's a subconscoius attempt to look more than just chubby.

Ok post overload here, but I just have to say I'm glad I'm not the only one. All I have wanted to eat lately is sushi! I try to eat california rolls as much as possible because it's cooked, but it doesn't always hit the spot. I need salmon and tuna!

OK, sushi lovers. Tell me about sushi. I have only had it once, but have no experience in it, and I really liked it. But, what is good, what is not, what should I look for, what should I avoid?

Crazy, but I have been craving it, and yet, I know little to nothing about it! I do know I LOVE the wasabi (or whatever that green or yellow, hot, pasty stuff is called)!

Any misspellings or grammatical errors in the above statement are intentional;
they are placed there for the amusement of those who like to point them out.

Ahhh sushi. I eat it every day.

I have been avoiding raw sushi, so I eat a lot of tempura shrimp and spicy shrimp rolls. Veggie and avocado or "california" rolls are also great if you want to avoid raw. (My midwife said that there IS a chance of oh my... can't remember what it's called... toxoplasmosis? with raw... so I'm getting it rarely, pun intended. And she doesn't usually tell me to avoid stuff -- plus I do eat it CONSTANTLY!!! /justification)

If you are ok with raw, tuna rolls are good, and salmon, as mentioned. If you like spicy, get a spicy tuna roll. I would have a friend who likes sushi take you out and try a sampler tray!

I mix the wasabi in my soy sauce, and always ask for extra pickled ginger -- I actually bought a jar so I never run out.

I really avoid the "fake" rolls like Philadelphia rolls -- things with cream cheese in them, sort of Americanized sushi. Yuck. Real sushi is so good, no need to mess with it.
