Glad you are so light hearted about it. My favorite question people would ask when I was vveerrrry pregnant "When are you due?"

My response "Last week" or "12 days ago"

LOL

Thank you for all the encouraging words. I am feeling a little down and trying to be light-hearted about it. Think I would be doing much better waiting if my last little guy hadn't been 2 weeks early. Ah well.

It is hard enough to wait out the 40 wks. But when baby does not come "on time", it is so much harder.

We're here....waiting with you....and we'll try to keep you laughing. Ever hear the one about the woman who was pregnant for a year? Yeah, me neither! Hahahahahahah!!!!!! That's the kind of bitter sarcasm that makes me chuckle, anyway. But then, I'm a bit of a weirdo.

Today's my due date, too. Hey, three cheers for us---now we can start getting all those phone calls! I waited for someone to ask my due date today, but in the end I just said to a stranger who had asked whether we were having a boy or girl, "Now ask when I'm due." Anyway, all along I've tried to talk myself out of expecting a baby by 40 weeks. My first kid was due 9/29/06, but after checking me on 9/11, the midwife said, "As a rule I don't make predictions, but I'm guessing this baby's coming really soon. You certainly aren't going to make it to your due date." That was 9/11, and my daughter was born...10/12. So I won't be too surprised (which is not to say I won't necessarily feel disheartened or impatient) if this baby arrives January 8.

Best wishes to you, meanwhile! Sending some good labor vibes your way:

Mindy

Mindy, mom to Harriet (b. 10/12/06) and Baby No. 2 (due 12/27/09)

That's funny you should say. I have actually heard of someone being pregnant for a year. It's in the book Husband-Coached Childbirth by Dr. Bradley. For some reason this woman gestated for a whole year and the doc just kept an eye on her and didn't push an induction. They were sure of the dates for some reason, I think maybe she was doing IVF? Too tired to look the reference up right now..... Dear God, please don't let any of us go THAT long! I'm sure it's uber-rare.

Really? OMG!! I'm totally sorry I made that crack, then! I have that book, I need to go back and read it! In the meantime, I'll be sending positive birthing vibes your way!! I remember how hard it was to wait with my first one, who went 10 days past her due date and probably would have gone longer if I hadn't been induced. On the happy side, she was absolutely perfect at birth. This time, I'm 37 weeks along and already getting anxious! I have to keep reminding myself that babies still can't tell time.
