The birth did not go as expected, due to some serious interference at the hospital. Unfortunately we did not arrive as late in labour as we had hoped - although I was shaking and vomiting about 7 hours of labouring at home we were still only at 4 cm when we arrived (me, dh, and doula.) We were told soon after we were admitted that although we had signed a waiver, some of our requests had been vetoed by the head of the obstetrics department, and if I insisted they would send me by ambulance to the big maternity hospital an hour away. (Not a reasonable option as far as I was concerned.)
We had a big scene, which I'm not really up to describing yet, but in the end I was worn out and told them to go ahead and schedule a repeat section. It went well, though apparently I have a "weak" scar and have been told not to attempt another vaginal birth.
In any case, I am home now, and getting into a routine while I decide if I want to do anything about what happened at the hospital, and if so, what. Angus is finally figuring out nursing after a somewhat slow start.
I'll post a picture when I figure out how!
Edit: As far as I can tell, I can't post a picture - but I made a public album which can be accessed through looking at my stats, with a few photos in it.
I'm sorry things did not go as planned. I also had negative experiences surrounding my birth, which have prevented me from writing my birth story. It sounds like yours was worse though. Stupid hospitals.
I'm glad Angus is healthy and nursing better now.
