is it just conjunctivitis? there was a greenish booger in the corner of his eye and after i wiped it away it still looks greenish and goopy by the tear duct. my husband had pinkeye a month ago and our doc said it's just a virus and did nothing.

Is his eye crusty/swollen shut when he wakes up? If not, it's probably not pinkeye. Probably is conjuctivitis. See if it gets worse as the day goes on

wanted to add, Emma had those same symptoms and hers was a blocked tear duct, but that was during her 1st 2 weeks, not recently

If you nurse, put some breastmilk directly into it.

DS, 10/07. Allergies: peanut, egg, wheat. We've added dairy back in. And taken it back out again. It causes sandpaper skin with itchy patches and thrashing during sleep. Due w/ #2 late April, 2012.

if it's bacterial, would he have a fever?

my husband had it about a month ago and we did nothing, it went away. i had it, too, it was very mild for me, barely itchy. just a little itchy, a little blurred vision in the morning, a little teary. Ben has been teary yesterday and today, and now woke up from a nap with this solid wet white-green goopy booger in the corner of his eye. he's been rubbing his eyes a little but not a lot.

I don't think he would have a fever. If yours went away on it's own, his probably will too. I would just watch it.

DDCC I second the breastmilk. My son's eye has gotten pretty bad a couple of times and the breastmilk always does the trick.

Jenn (30) wife to DH (42) and Mama to DS (2). Looking forward to our with #2 due Nov. 2 2010.

DS had a blocked tearduct since birth - goopy nasty looking green stuff that was just dried up tears. It just cleared a few days ago. I cleaned it with breastmilk and massaged the tearduct to help it unblock (still took 3 months though)
He didn't have an infection though

pink eye will make the eye very red. if the ye is clear but goopy it is prob the duct. holly has duct probs in both eyes so she is always goopy/watery!

today it seems fine...I'm almost wondering if he just wiped a nose booger into his eye. sigh. thanks for your responses everyone, I will put breastmilk if it looks goopy again. I've been putting milk up his nose to help his congestion, too. poor little snotty guy...

Colloidal silver works great for pinkeye, just FYI.
