I've been on the search too, and totally enjoying looking online. I'm living in poverty at the moment so most of the clothing I'm collecting is hand-me-downs and stuff that I've been sewing out of scrap fabric (hello wool diaper covers from my old sweaters!). It's been exciting to hunt for used baby things and remake the often boring of stained clothes into something fabulous.

I'm looking a lot at new clothes online to get ideas for sewing my own. I'll add the gender neutral stuff I find to a wishlist so you all can see it too and buy some for yourself if you want. The wishlist is here http://www.wishpot.com/list.aspx?uid...AxMywxMDg2MzM7

If you're getting ready for baby low budget like me here's what I've found by way of idea's and free patterns.

great resources basje! I found with my first that by the end I had so many things that were passed down to me that I had more then we needed. I don't think I bought a thing for my son until he was 18 mos or so. Once people really start to know that your expecting, things will come!

Love it; thanks! I'm trying to figure out how to sew diapers currently... The ONLY thing I've ever sewn before was a small quilt, and that took me about a year!

Thanks for sharing this great info. I'm on #3, but if we have a boy, I'll want to figure something out to refashion some of the more 'girlie' clothes that my 2 girls eventually ended up in.

Married to my soul mate and best friend. Stay-at-home-mama, home-schooler to three magical little ones. And, blogging about a green, simple, frugal way life at rosiedreams.com.

I made little fleece baby slippers today from a free pattern on the Darling Diapers site! ME! I MADE THEM! My toddler wanted to wear them, so I was able to whip up another pair for her in about 20 minutes! Look at me all domesticated!

I LOVE making those!! I went a little nuts earlier this summer and made about 8 for my niece (I told my SIL she could share with her friends that had baby/toddler girls). My neighbor had a yard sale and had neat pillow cases with embroidered edges/designs, so I bought them w/out much thought of what to do with them and came across that idea.

I've been making diapers! Mostly PUL pockets but also one wool soaker. I bought Elvis PUL online--that's gender neutral, right? Who wouldn't want Elvis diapers?

I love the ideas--but you missed the ultimate--CRAIGSLIST!!

Baby due Jan 24 (but my last child was 17 days past EDD) and I picked up a (don't flame me--it's for the sitter--don't flame me again) stroller, pack n play, mattress, sheets, covers, blankets all in great condition for $60. The $2-3 clothes are out en masse and my in-law just had twin boy and girl (I don't know what I'll have--definetly a BABY).

Now I'm on Craigslist looking for a wrap (didymos style) or I'll make one of those but I'm soooooooo bad at that and a babyhawk type MeiTai, found hypnobabies and car seats (no accident sold by EMT with twins--if you can't trust the EMT to get a good seat--who can you trust).

I think I'm done except for diapers and Homebirth stuff.

Crunchy con wife with 1 DS and 1 lil DD born in Jan. I love breastfeeding, CDing and Friday night family bed.

Freecycle can be great for free clothes too, if you have one in your area.

I made a swaddler today! I've never seen one of these tie-versions before in person, but I don't have the kind of velcro and fabric I would want to make it adjustable. And I didn't work from a pattern, either! Winged it!!

It's killing me, looking through patterns and inspirations online...all the SO CUTE little things I could make for a girl...arrggghhhhh, if only we knew.

It's almost enough to make me run out and get an ultrasound. Almost.

Anyway, here's what I DIY'd (DIM'd?) yesterday! http://www.flickr.com/photos/auburntmw/3962657100/

FWIW, I worked full-time last pregnancy and didn't get to do any of this kind of stuff. Nowadays, I just have to find ways to keep myself busy so I don't go crazy.

I just bought a sewing machine today. I have been trying to get into the fun of buying new cloth diapers but I will not be satisfied unless I make some myself. I have no idea how to use a sewing machine but by god I am going to figure it out. I am so determined. I really want to make my own fleece covers and recycled wool longies and shorties.

Woo-hoo! Go for it! There are tons of video tutorials for sewing all kind of things online. I only knew a little about sewing from a Home Economics class I took back in *junior* high but have been able to figure out quite a few things so far. And it's a LOT of fun!
