I woke up with such back pain. Running a couple errands and it became hip pain & numbness. Is there any kind of relief for this? I was seriously on the verge of calling my midwife asking whether this was even normal until I googled and found there can be numbness associated with it. I think it might be time for that pregnancy massage. It's even making it hard to focus at work

DS arrived 3/10/10, DD arrived 3/13/13, and a third will be joining us around 5/20/14. pos.gif

I had great luck with a chiro during my last pregnancy. I had some hip pain and he fixed it in no time. I had to do a few follow up appointments, and I did go for other routine adjustments. I was much more comfortable after the appts and they were very affordable. About $35 a visit - about the same as a co-pay to my primary.

My standard answer is swimming/walking in a pool/water aerobics. Makes a HUGE difference in my life.

The massage is always a good answer, too.

I've had sacroiliac joint pain along with sciatica with each of my 3 pregnancies. The hormone relaxin really gets your ligaments to become lax and so you end up with instability in your pelvis.

I'm a physical therapist (now a SAHM). My recommendation (if you are indeed dealing w/ SI joint problems, which I can't diagnose online obviously ) is a good physical therapist or chiropractor.

The chiro has been very helpful for me in all my pregnancies. I've also enjoyed massage. I find that both are helpful, but the farther along I get, the more often I need them; weight and relaxin seem to be my downfall.

I must say my hot shower the other day and switching my seating to primarily a birth ball has helped until I can get into the chiro. My mw also suggest my cal supplement at bedtime instead of in the morning like I've been doing. Lot of , it's miserable!

The hot showers have been helping but still even in the shower I leaned down to get a bottle of shampoo and thought I was going to die! I don't see the MW again for a couple more weeks but I'm going to try to get a referral to a chiro.
