so, i posted an abbreviated birth story last week somewhere around here, but wasn't sure what pics i would be comfortable posting. an uber-brief recap: planned home birth crashed and burned when we discovered i had late and acute emergent pre-eclampsia. checked into our local hospital and were given space and respect to go at our own pace, all the time with the support of our wonderful midwives. two days later charlie was born 4lb7oz, and then spent a week in the NICU due to (initial) low blood sugar, elevated hematocrit, and asymetric IUGR (he was 37 weeks, head measuring 35, abdomen 33 or 32).

i'm just posting a link to our picasa web album. i've decided i don't care about being too private.... may be related to having a hospital birth with complications and having what felt like hundreds of nurses and doctors interacting with all my bits?

anyway, a warning: this is a LONG slideshow - more than 100 pics, made for our close friends and far away family. start at your own risk

He's beautiful, P+H! He looks so happy, and it's clear that he gets all of the cuddles a baby could ever want.

Beautiful, artistic photos...It is amazing how some of them are so layered. Did you have a professional?

NiCU sleep rooms are very good. Why don't more hosptials plan that?

Charlie is a cutie, my son had the same foot pricks and marks as yours...poor sweet footsies!

Congrats!

thanks, every body. we've had fun taking pictures. they are from two phones, a point and shoot, and a digital SLR with a really great lens (that's what my husband says)

i was so sad in the hospital at first. at one point, i wrote an email to my family saying i was sad that we wouldn't have the beauty of our planned home birth. but, it WAS beautiful. i wish we'd gotten pics of the sunrise the morning he was born. it was a sunrise that lasted for an hour, i swear. so gentle, so beautiful.

can't tell you how pleased we are to be HOME, resting and eating great, and have charlie getting really, really fat!

Greentea, you should totally let us know when you are coming this way! Rhi has promised already...

me+him for 15 yrs, welcomed our little one march 25th, 2010.
