Just thought I would let you know that our sweet Penelope Rose was born via a glorious and amazing scheduled c-section on Monday 05/10/10 in the morning. She was 6 lb, 12 oz and 20 inches long. She is almost a full two pounds less than my other babies and seems so tiny!
She immediately took to nursing and has an amazing latch. My milk just came in this morning full force (usually it only takes a couple of hours after birth so nearly two days later was a bit strange for me - expected but strange.
I will write more details later, but suffice it to say that my c-section was AMAZING! Everything went just as I had dreamed and hoped it would. Well, except for the student anesthesiologist having to place the spinal/epidural combo needle TWICE! That sucked but once past that part, it was as perfect of a surgical birth as I could have ever dream up.
As promised, Dr. Isaacs passed little Penelope across the drape as soon as she was born, all slippery, bloody, and wet. The lead anesthesiologist had released my arms and then opened my gown for me so I got to have skin to skin contact with my sweet baby for the first 30 or so minutes of her life. I only let her go because I was starting to get a bit woozy from all of the bloody fluids splashing on the drapes. At that point, Mr. Amazing Man took her to the warmer to get her weighed and measured but then she came right back to me and has never left my side since. Not once.
More story to come later - I hope all of you who are still waiting for your little one are doing well and hanging in there. It's worth it in the end, no matter which way your baby is invited into the world!
Smooches and hugs to all of your for your support these last months!
