I delivered my sweet baby girl Joyanna Elizabeth on May 18th. She came in at a healthy 8lbs 6oz and 20 inches. She is beautiful, perfect, healthy and taking to nursing like a champ. We are so blessed.
When they opened me up for the c-section the doctors were surprised by the arrangement of my organs and digestive track. They had to move quite a bit around I guess. Some scar tissue had formed around my appendix making it adhere to other things. They couldn't get the baby out without damaging it. So they called a general surgeon who recommended it be removed. So, they did.
It made for a lllooonnnggg surgery. My spinal was wearing off as they finally stapled me up. I was anxious about the surgery to begin with. It was hard to get through. But they allowed me to have my doula with me (DH was with baby) so I got through it.
I'm recovering well generally. I have a major pain in my neck, either a muscle or gas, that had me in tears this morning. But with some heat and 'motrin in eased. I thought I wa dieing it hurt that bad.
I miss my boys. They came to see me and meet their sister. They are thrilled! I'll be glad to get home!
Congrats on your healthy baby girl and doing well getting through the complication. I hope you recover well. I wanted to let you know that 12 days after I had baby (Homebirth) I am still getting gas pains and this morning I had one that made me wish I was birthing instead. I had DH get up to run me a hot bath even. It went away thankfully.
I hope you recover quickly and are feeling wonderful soon.

It may not help, but when I had a spinal tap a couple years back, they told me to stay horizontal for a few days to keep the fluids level. I thought it was weird but if I sat up for any period of time longer than going potty my neck would be killing me...may help...may not?
Hope you are feeling massively better soon!!!
Midwife. Mama to five. Love is still the greatest.
Congrats Mama and welcome to the world baby girl Joyanna!!
So sorry to hear about the "extras" to your surgery, but at least you dont have to worry about an appendectomy in your future. Wishing you a speedy recovery. Rest as much as you can and enjoy your babymoon!
