I didn't have any issues with pelvic prolapse of any kind, but suspected it during thsi pregnancy. My OB confirmed a very slight prolapse, but said we wouldn't know the extent until after baby. However, she said that it is very common to have a slightly prolapsed uterus while the pelvic floor muscle heal after birth. Then some story about how her cervix was so low right after birth and went back etc. Regardless, after much time on the pelvic prolapse thread here at MDC, I made an appt with a specialist who cant see me for a couple months.

So of course i am obsessing now, as I would love to start running and other things asap but not wanting to hurt anything if there is something abnormal.

So my question, or favor, for anyone open to checking....how high is your cervix now? For those that were cervix checkers before pregnancy...is it the same height now as it was then? Thank you for feeding my obsessing until I see the doctor.

DDDC-
I remember, after one of my pregnancies-I think #6-my cervix sitting at the introitus at one point PP-probably a few weeks after birth. It was fine by my 6 week PP visit and has been at a normal position ever since.

I'm a cervix checker but I am weirded out by how things look and feel down there so I haven't got the nerve to check the location of my cervix. So, I started feeling better and most likely over did myself and ever since yesterday, my perenium feels heavy. And I feel like there is something right inside my vagina that I didn't feel before and its bothering me.. ugh. Im 3 weeks pp. Is this normal? What do I do?? Should I try to look or feel for my cervix to see if thats what it is? I'm scared. I'm a little swollen today too.

I'm so not qualified to answer. I'm on total freak out for what could be no good reason, and polling an internet message board to make myself feel less panicked, lol. I was not a cervix checker w/ my last 2 so I have no idea what is and is not normal. I find mixed info from experts all over the place.

Personally, I know that w/ my last two, everything seemed right back where is was supposed to be by 6 wks when DH and I DTD the first time.

I can tell you what I feel myself and you can do with the TMI what you wish.

During pregnancy I noticed (OB confirmed) a minor retocele. This feels like a small bulge right inside the entrance of my vagina on the posterior side. It is not uncomfortable and causes me no symptoms or discomfort, and disappears when I lay down.

I have, by the end of a day on my feet, a slight protrusion of the anterior side of my vagina wall (more like it looks swollen then sticking out, but it isn't swollen tissue...I'm totally healed up), and that is a symptom (according to OB) of a slight uterine prolapse (thus the low cervix) that is common after birth and usually goes away as things get back to normal.

I was prompted to make the appt w/ the specialist only because I had both the retocele and the uterine prolapse, which makes me concerned. My OB seems very unconcerned, but it is also not her internal organs turning inside out.

How is that for a TMI post? :-)

All in all, I really don't feel any different down there, and wouldn't know anything about my low cervix/uterine prolapse if I wasn't checking due to freakout of the rectocele. If we have another baby, DH says he is going to put one of the cone collars on me postpartum we did w/ our dogs when they have surgery, to keep me from looking at what is going on, until 6 wks after, lol.

Wow, am I glad to find this thread! It just so happens that I had a doctors appt yesterday and I told him that my uterus was falling out. It's not extending outside my vagina, but it's only about an inch in and my front vaginal wall is bulging. He started talking about pessarys and I just cringed because that word reminds me of old ladies in nursing homes. He couldn't tell me if it was a normal effect from giving birth or not, but he did set me up with a physical therapist who deals in this area. I am so glad to hear that this is common and might reverse itself.

DDDC from April. I have a prolapse, I saw a urogynecologist for it yesterday. While it feels major to me, it is apparently minor and she is very optimistic it will go away with time. And some physical therapy (that should be interesting.....) My cervix is very low, maybe 1/4 to a 1/2 inch in? Much lower than PP with DD2. Back then it was still low (from preg/birth of DD1). My "normal" back then was about an inch or two in. I had an IUD at the time so it was really easy to find.

so i finally got brave and at 6 weeks pp, my cervix is sitting right inside the opening. i still feel heavy down there and i am really freaking out about this. i plan to call my midwife about this. it can be very uncomfortable and my perineum is still sore. i must have really damaged those muscles. ugh, this is disheartening.

ok, so after freaking out, I did some more investigating and its not my cervix. Its the walls of my vagina close together. So, I think that I really did a number on my pelvic floor and its still weak and healing. I'm praying things go back to normal soon. I really dont want prolapse and so I am will be doing my kegels.

I loved that article... she did a follow-up interview with her as well that I thought was very helpful. And honestly, looking at my body shape right now, it's clear my glutes are nonexistant. Plus I'm having continued pelvic pain, so I do think all the muscles are just loosey goosey and weak. It makes sense to me that everything needs to be strong and balanced for things to be in their right place, so that's what I'm working on now.

DDCC -

I had a prolapse after DD... it took about 6 months to get back up to its regular height but eventually did.
