We are home, surgery went really well. He had some scheduled/forced amount feeds we had to repeat...and I even voluntarily asked if we could cut one feed in half after not being able to pass the higher feed two times.

I did not think we would ever get to go home Tuesday morning, as he kept failing the 66 cc feed (took 3 tries to get the 44 cc). But, the next thing I know, after starting to panic is that I got the go ahead, after 3 days of not nursing to start nursing him.

I had some trouble at first, but it was more that I couldn't get him to wake up. The nurse even came in when I asked for some suggestions. With her in the room I placed a cold cloth on his belly..he just fussed for a few seconds and fell back asleep. *LOL* she laughed and said let him sleep, and try when he wakes up.

He woke up about 1 hour later. It took about 20 minutes but I finally got him to latch on...and he has been non stop since.

The nurse I had morning of discharge had a baby who had the same thing many years ago....we followed her recommendation of doing timed feeds on the breast of short interverals, frequently, at first and working up to full untimed feeds over the day and/or the next if needed...

We had one puke when we got home, but he is now feeding on the breast untimed as long as he wants...and just get some spit ups.

Oh, and he has pooped 3 times in the last 2 days...since not having a poop since last week Monday night...

I think my supply will have survived this...we still have an RX from the Ped for an electric pump through our insurance, and we are considering getting it for a month to help pull the supply up.

This is great news. It sounds like a rough situation, but I'm so glad to hear that the surgery went well and that things are improving.

I'm so glad to hear your good news. I've been thinking of you lately as we've been dealing with some sudden, daily projectile vomiting with Catherine the last few days. I hope it's nothing, but it's terrifying to think about things ......
Hope you and your wee one have a peaceful recovery!

So glad to hear the surgery went well and that he is happily nursing. Hoping things are much easier for you both in the days to come. Stay in bed or lie low for a couple days if you can manage it and nurse, nurse, nurse!
