Ugh. I have so many projects I need to be working on right now(I'm a SAHM, but some of them involve helping DH find a job next year). There are deadlines, all sorts of things, but I just found out I'm pg and I keep thinking of all the things I need to do with that even though we both agreed to let it sink in for a week or two(we m/c in June, so a bit timid to make early plans this time).
I want to call the midwife, make healthy pg meal plans, start a new exercise routine. Ugh. Instead, I sit her on MDC, acting like I'm doing other work that needs to be done, but totally can't focus.

I know there are those of you out there with actual jobs and deadlines. How are you coping? How is stuff getting done?

TIA, if, for nothing else, giving me another reason to procrastinate.

Ooh! I could have written that! I have been doing a big bunch of spaced out nothing. I keep telling myself I'll snap out of it after the ultrasound... umm what's that got to do with anything?

I'll exercise if you exercise...

I am having issues too Even in my office, where I can usually focus and get a lot done, I have been just sitting there day dreaming or staring at the wall. I need a swift kick in the pants. I have ALOT to do before next summer.

Me three! (or four?).

I have a fairly mothering-unfriendly workplace, where I'm hoping not to tell anyone I'm pregnant until the end of this semester. And my job also depends on my doing a lot of self-motivated work towards publication (I'm junior faculty on the tenure track). But all I want to do is stare at the wall and obsess over this embryo!

Any advice? Is anyone actually on task and getting lots of work done? Share your secrets!!

Oh Beastie, my DH is in the last year of the PhD and there is no way I would be able to get anything academically achieved right now. Seriously, HATS off to you. I'm just trying to keep his application list up to date/keep it on task while he writes/teaches and I'm doing a lame lame job of that at the moment.
With that said, the house is spotless, all the laundry is done and DS is doing ok. I'm so glad I'm not working this go round. I had a fancy pants job when I was pg with DS and am lucky that I do great in meetings, because in individual productivity, I was so lame.

Maybe we should start a club. Each day list one thing that really needs to get done and be accountable to each other. So yes, Buzzer Beater, I will walk tomorrow, if you will.
Also, tomorrow, we will get a job app out and I will update the spreadsheet.

Hahahaha. I'm soooo not focussed on work. I'm not interested in my job, I don't really want to be there at all now... All I want to do is make baby plans LOL.

I don't know what is wrong with you guys - I am getting so much done - all I do is sit around and make lists of things I need to do before baby comes!!! Ha ha. Can't seem to even start on one of the things on the list however.

I am ABD in Sociology and planning to defend my PhD dissertation in the next few months. And right now, I am completely useless unless it involves lengthy to-do lists before the LO comes. Oy!

Oh laneysprout, good luck! I'm not sure how DH is going to get the defense done this year, now. He's totally distracted too.

Okay, ladies, please forgive my enjoyment of this thread. I have a meanie sleep disorder called narcolepsy, and pregnancy is the ONLY time that anyone ever complains about what is an everyday aggravating aspect of my life. The horrid spaciness, the feeling you're losing your mind, starting one task to find you haven't finished the last three and three days later you find you still haven't accomplished anything you could check off your to-do list. The being told by everyone else that you ARE losing your mind because you swear you did/didn't do something they saw you do/didn't do. And the constant fighting sleepiness or tiredness that just won't leave you alone. I am so glad to have the company of "normal" people, even though it's only temporary.

I hope 2nd & 3rd trimester bring you ladies more energy and clarity of mind, and I wish you success at beating the fog.

Living happily and embracing adventures.

A kindred spirit! I definitely consider listmaking my most important work right now! Checking things off.....not so much. I'm a pro. Here's how. Make lots of long lists on post-it notes. Lay them around the house to ferment for a week or so. Go back and read them all, then throw them away since you've either changed your mind on every item listed or the things you listed to do/attend have already happened a week ago. Without your attendance. Repeat ad nauseum........

Let's see I got all my grading done on Friday and collected some homework on Monday that I haven't even looked at yet.

I usually lesson plan about a week in advance, but atm, I am going a couple of days to day of..

I will probably bite the head off of a parent that complains about their kids' grade..

Went home from school yesterday and right away took a nap.

Um, yeah. There with ya.

Pinoikoi, you are in better shape than I am. I actually went to class with the WRONG WEEK's lesson plan prepared. I had to wing it and my students must have thought I lost it!
