Hi ladies,

A LC from the WIC office called me today to check up on me, and was telling me all sorts of interesting things about breastfeeding. She shared this video with me, and I thought it was worth passing on. It's from Stanford University and shows how to express by hand. I thought it was pretty cool, so here it is:

Hope no one else is as bored today as I am! Can't wait to have this baby so I will have something important to do.

Living happily and loving it!

Interesting, I've never done this before but might come in handy to know how to this time.

Not only am I bored, but so tired... worst combo! I had the hardest time sleeping because I'm getting the low back ache crampy feeling and I contracted off and on all night long... a few times they were really regular and I would think, this is it! How am I supposed to sleep like that! Now I'm feeling like I need everything ready, even though everything is ready its just a matter of keeping it that way. I'm gonna get really sick of making sure the house is clean and the cameras are charged and keeping my legs shaved.... she better come soon!

Sorry, I always hijack your threads

LOL Camera, legs, house...same here, but I've kinda given up at this point. I've been taking lots of naps instead.

hand expressing can be super useful...really once you have a feel for it, it's simpler than any pump and can be quite easy although not the most efficient if you are looking to freeze. In a pinch you can express into a burp cloth while out without your pump if you are too engorged for baby to latch on properly!

I needed to supplement with bottles so infrequently back when DD was nursing that this is what I did! I had bought a manual pump, or gotten one for a present, but a part of it got lost early on in the cleaning and I just never got around to getting another one.

It is pretty easy to pump by hand (a little amusing... kind of like "milking yourself"), but once you figure out how to get the milk to letdown without baby - its not hard at all!

This time I do plan to by another manual pump (and hopefully not lose any parts), just to see if I can get more milk that way...
