So I went in yesterday morning for my tubal occlusion. We had to be there by 9:30am, but we were a few mins late, due to oversleeping (Merrick decided to not go to sleep until 2am). They got me in to do all my paperwork and my IV hooked up. I knew the Essure tubal occlusion procedure is less invasive compared to a tubal ligation, but I didn't know that they would put me under general anesthesia. Which I didn't mind at all. At 12pm, they took me back to the OR and put me under. The next thing I remember is I was being awoken in recovery and was give percaset for the pain. I was then able to go home a couple of hours later. I was extremely loopy all day and out of it from the anesthesia and medicine, but when the pain killers wore off, I've been extremely crampy. I was laid up all day and was told to take it easy over the next couple of days, which is nearly impossible b/c Brandon had to go out of town all weekend for work.

All in all, the surgery went really well and I'm not feeling too too bad. I'm just slow. We aren't allowed to have sex for two weeks and I'm not allowed to sit in water (so no swimming for me) for two weeks.

Congrats! Dh had his vasectomy just last week. Number 3 was a happy semi-surprise but a #4 would be a Oh #@!$ surprise. So these baby cloths are leaving the house as soon as they are outgrown!

I've always been curious as to what the Essure procedure entailed. I'm not prepared to be "finished forever" at age 30, so I get my IUD put in on August 13. I'm way excited about that.

It's really not a bad procedure. Instead of them doing a major surgery and disconnecting the filopian tubes and tying them together, they just go through the cervix and insert these tiny coils into the tubes. They then scar over the coils to close off the tubes so no semen can go up. The healing process is very short, but you have to use some sort of bc for 3 months.

what is an endometrial ablation? I have a topical allergy to some metals, but was assured by my doctor that I should be okay with this procedure.

Those are part of why it was recommended to me by the OB. But on a positive notes the gals i know who have had Essure done, have said that their periods and cramping are much lighter and better.

Oh I'm hoping so. I really don't look forward to my periods...like any woman really does. LOL Mine have literally put me down for a few days, always have. Sucks really.

No more for us, too.

DH went in today for a consult for a vas.. he got referred to a specialist because of some minor issues that MIGHT cause possible complications, so we had to reschedule the procedure itself, but dh seems pretty ok with it.
