About 9 hours of easy labor that wasn't progressing much (stuck at 6 cm with ctx 7 minutes apart even with tons of walking) so we agreed on the tiniest dose of pitocin (evil) and an hour later he was born (cord around neck and arm but he was fine) after some intense pit ctx and my water breaking and about 5 minutes of pushing. Was hoping for a quick labor like my last two but was happy to get all the abx since I was GBS+. We came home 24 hours later!

Pushed in every position imaginable for somewhere around 4 hours, all unmedicated, more intense than painful, weirdly blurry. Baby decided to present mostly ROP but ear-first, got stuck, arrived via emergent C-section.

Great! Thank you for offering! I'd leave out the extra smilies (beyond the babies) as I personally think it makes things harder to read.

Thank you for doing this! I did this for my other DDC, but have a feeling I wouldn't be able to keep up this time around with a toddler "helping" all the time!

Sounds good! I wonder who will be the first to give birth?!

mataji4, I think you are right about the smilies. I wasn't really sold on using the baby smilies either if I am using color coded text anyways. Maybe if I am feeling really ambitious, I could do a stats summary using smilies, like how many home births or cesareans or boys and girls and twins just to get a quick overview. But I'm nerdy with stats like that !

slgt, from your experience, what worked best for getting that info from the women who wanted to share it? Just adding it to the thread, or pm or did you sift through all of the birth stories?

I'm getting excited! It's about to rain babies in this ddc!

Yes, if you can leave the brief details either on this thread or send me a private message and I will add your birth info to the birth list in the first post of this thread. If you want to write a detailed birth story you could post that in the main ddc and I can add a link to it. If you put pictures on your facebook or elsewhere that you want to share, then post the link and I can add it to you birth announcement.

I think there are a LOT of July mamas! So it would be easiest for me to not have to search through that many birth stories to get the details.

Also, I assume that if someone posts a birth story thread that the info is public and can be added to the birth announcement thread, but this may not actually be true. So please give me permission to add you to the birth announcement thread if you want to be included!(by posting your details here or via pm.)
Thanks everyone!

I noticed on the tally at the end of the first post you have Homebirth-UC-VBAC-and Csection-adoption-but no tallies for planned natural hospital births?

Yeah that's bugging me too. I didn't know which smilly thingamabob to use for that. Any suggestions? I might just write it in like I did for total babies.

I wish we had a planned natural hospital birth too!

Thanks for updating this board, mamakaikai! Please add my new son's name if you can, it's Raymond Gilbert D.

July Mama's: It's JULY!!!! And we already have a whopping 20 babies!!

Congrats to all the postpartum mamas!!

Given that I am newly postpartum and a mama of a 2 year old, and that we have a very active DDC with numerous mama's, please help me stay on top of the birth announcement thread by posting the details of your birth in this thread if you wish to be added, or to add/change details to your announcement.

Also, I have not found a suitable emoticon to depict vaginal hospital birth. So I have manually written it in. (mods, any chance emoticons can be added for this purpose?!!) In an effort to be inclusive, I have grouped both birth center and hospital vaginal births together. I know I can't please everyone, so I hope there is no offense taken by grouping these together. Also, I think it might get really complicated to account for all the medicated/unmediated births...again, I hope no one takes offense. If you wish to have that information be part of your birth announcement, please post it as part of your birth details.

Happy Birthing Everyone!!!

Mostly a lurker, and I'm a little late with the announcement, but here goes!

Date + time of Birth: June 23, 2010, at 8:02 AM
Username (real name) Edd: lawschoolmama, EDD of July 3
Baby Name + Sex: DD2
Gestational age: 38.5 weeks (10 days before her guess date)
Weight + Length: 6 lbs, 15 oz
Arrival details + weblink to photos or birthstory etc: My water broke at 4 AM on the 23rd, and for some reason, I thought I'd have a full day of laboring. The contractions began to get intense REALLY fast though, and before I knew it we barely had time to get to the hospital (which is about 30 mins. from our house)! When I got there, I was in unbelievable pain, and totally panicking about it--transition; I was 7 cm dilated, 100 percent effaced, and the head was at zero station. The nurses predicted I would have her in 30 minutes; 25 minutes later I pushed her out in two incredibly painful pushes! My doula didn't even make it (got stuck in morning traffic), but she was lovely and very helpful both prenatally and postpartum. My midwife barely got there in time to catch the baby! I was doing Hypnobabies, but I have to say, I don't know if it was because the labor was so fast or what, but it did NOT work for me at all Oh well, DD2 is absolutely a wonderful little baby, so cute and sweet and a great nurser, and DD1 is so adorable with her--such a good big sister

Wife to DH 6/05 partners.gif and mommy to DD1, born 10/07 dust.gif and DD2, born June 2010 energy.gif, and one cat.gif! We bftoddler.gif, familybed2.gif, and homeschool.gif
