I'm pretty sure of my dates because of charting and I'm at 42 weeks now I have another NST Tuesday and then a probable AROM induction Wednesday or Thursday. I know baby might be okay another entire week in there or more, but DD was born at 42 weeks + 1 or 2 days and had serious meconium issues with the birth, peeling skin, and looked post-dates so I'm reaching the end of my personal comfort zone, which makes me so sad. I'm going to do some mall walking today and just hope it happens before Wednesday.
I'm going mall walking today, too. Hoping that, the fresh pineapple, the RRL tea and all the cerivx opening BH I've been having the last two days will combine to give me a full moon baby, but if it doesn't, I'm only 39w2d, so I shouldn't complain. I'm sorry you're facing AROM this week, wavybrain, but maybe that will get some natural labor going for you.

Hugs to chiromommy, theoretica, and all of the other "overdue" ladies-in-waiting, as well.

I was 3 cm dilated and somewhat effaced on Friday, so I guess all my warm-up contractions should mean things will go fast once they really start, but that's what has DH most worried of all.

Dana I kicked DH out last night too! He's been driving me insane, so I sent him fishing overnight and he really enjoyed himself He's napping now, so I ended up with most of today having some breathing room too!

When he got home and de-grossed from the fishing, I had him check my cervix (I can't reach it to save my life!) and he said it was a soft as the inside of his cheek, and his fingers showed what I'd guess to be about 4 cm dilated. So I'm making progress, that's reassuring to know I suppose. I've done a little nipple stimulation but I *hate* it so while it definitely made some ctx happen I'm not ready to go full on yet. I'll be 41 wks tomorrow as well. Sigh.

Theoretica- I feel your pain sista!

My doula has me pumping a few times a day to stimulate contractions...and does it ever work! They really hurt... so does the pumping! It feels funny to pump with no baby, but funny enough, I ended up with about .5 oz of colostrum! That was a huge surprise!

I could never ask my dh to check my cervix, he would be a combo of horrified, amused and totally grossed out. He is soooo not that guy!!!!

Anyone else have their baby kicking the sh*t out of them???? MY GOD this baby is so strong!!!!! I have no idea how she hasn't broken the water!!!

DH was a CNA, then a nursing student, and an EMT so it doesn't bother him. And honestly, it's SO much less uncomfortable having him check than a MW because he knows my body and can do it in a way that doesn't feel miserable yk? But yeah, there's a ton of totally normal guys that could never do it! I've never asked him to do it before but at least I feel like there's SOME proof that somethings happening.

I'm with you on the kicking...it's amazing how hard it's getting! She moved to center, back out, yesterday and it's painful at times how hard she's pounding away. I keep telling her there's MUCH more room out here than in there...she should really consider it!

Last night I felt close. Today has been nada. I have to admit to a bit of discouragement here. I guess I just thought it would be like POW! I'm in labor! But having all this little niggledy stuff happen and then nothing for another day is stressing me out. I know, I know, I should be patient. Tomorrow I'm technically 40wks.

My family is driving me nuts. Dh went out for a bit to get some space. DD is going to swim camp tomorrow, for which I am glad because she has been whiny and needy and really REALLY touchy, especially with my belly, and I love that she loves the baby, but it's like the bigger this belly gets, the more irresistable it is for her to lunge at it and aggressively snuggle with no warning.

Honestly, I'm getting scared, too I know I can do it, and I will do it, but I'm starting to recognize some fear of the labor/birth part.

*sigh* My mom is getting here tomorrow night. I don't think we're going to get a babymoon, I think people are going to be crawling all over us nonstop

Well, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and hoping that tomorrow will bring me another full moon Leo--dd was born on a full moon in Leo, almost 7 years ago. Wish me full moon labor vibes!! I want to have this baby tonight or tomorrow . . .

Sorry if I sound like I'm feeling sorry for myself! I just am having a hard time reconciling yesterday's definite action with today's absolute lack of any noticeable progress.

Hang in there, mommas!

Happy and in love with my family!

Crafty I feel the same way about my belly, my 6 year old is obsessed with mine and is constantly touching and rubbing and rasberrying it. I have been have contractions so randomly...5 min 40 min...no rhyme or reason but it the most serious I have had and start at the back and wrap around, 30-40 sec long...not much longer. Let go of your fear and let the contractions just plow through you and don't fight them. You;ll do great.

I'm getting really discouraged here too. For the last few nights around 6:00, I've had major AF like contractions that are anywhere from every 11 minutes to every 6 and are definitely uncomfortable, but not unbearable. Every night I think when I go to bed that I am going to be awakened with strong regular contractions, but it never happens. I know I am not due for a few days, but DS was induced at 42w and I don't want that kind of pressure again. I also, due to my work schedule, and how uncomfortable I am, really don't want to end up not having this baby until I'm 43w. Come on July babies, it's nice out here!!

I'm so in that boat!!!!

I keep trying to give myself a positive mantra... like, "She'll come when she's ready" Not working. I'm 41 weeks today, and no signs of progress. I'm more worried about my doc wanting to schedule me for an induction in the next week. I know I can say no, and I will, but if she suggests it DH will try to push me in that direction. Sometimes we remind me of that show "Dharma and Greg". He's so by the book conservative guy and I tend to be crunchy and anti establishment. It can be really amusing or SUPER ANNOYING like, when you're having a baby. We definitely differ on philosophy of birthing, vaxing, breastfeeding etc. I'm the ultimate say so in these things, but his ideas about these things make me crazy!!!!

Side note.... Talked to my MIL yesterday and had such an annoying conversation with her! She knows I'm preparing for a natural birth, and goes on this 20 min tangent about how she wanted the same thing, and she has such a high pain tolerance and she couldn't do it so I should just go with the epidural... blah blah blah... I'm trying to tell her that my grandmother did it 7 times and so can I, and I'll cross that bridge if I feel I need to!!!!! Plus, I don't really care. Don't project your perceived failure on to me! I'm sorry it didn't work for you, but don't try to bring me down!!!

After my S&S on friday I had terrible contractions friday night and all day Sat. then nothing yesterday or today. Doing it again today and hopefully it works this time!

Dana, I totally agree! It's like they spend all this time telling you what a horrible experience they had and then get miffed or act like your crazy for not wanting to repeat that exact same horrible experience!! And I just want to turn around and say "look, it's not about you, stop telling me your horror stories and insisting that I'm going to need an episiotomy in the hospital for a 9lb baby; this is not your birth!" Good luck with the S&S, tho! I hope it clicks this time.

Wavy and Amy--anything from the mall walking?

COME TODAY BABIES!!!!

For me, my nipples are sore from trying to help things along yesterday. Not trying to induce, just move forward from this prodromal off and on stuff. Maybe nip stim helps, but now I'm thinking, gee I don't want to START bf-ing w/ sore nips! But they're probably gonna get pretty sore anyways . . .

We haven't been dtd for weeks and did last night, but I didn't notice any AF like cramps or anything. For logistic reasons, it would be soooo much better if the babe would come today rather than later in the week . . .

Apparently nesting means make huge batches of food to me. I've been staying busy making massive amounts of white bean/squash soup, apricot jam, sun dried tomatoes, bread, processing dried herbs. Maybe today I'll do pasta or bread up all this zucchini we have and freeze it for ez future dinners. Or maybe lay in bed and watch Netflix

Well I am 99% sure I am in labor, typical slow first stage...hopefully when things get all kicked it will be fast, baby has dropped alot more so at least the contractions are doing something, her head is so low I can't reach around and find my cervix.

Well I'm not sure if my water broke last night or if I tinkled the bed a little

about 5-6am I woke up with a little 'gush' of fluid. Now to be fair, I had already woken up an hour before and had to pee, but ignored it because DH and DD were sprawled on me and it would take too much work to get up. Yep. I was that tired LOL!

Anyways when I woke up with the tiny gush it felt like I'd just peed a little. So I got up to go to the bathroom and peed quite a bit more than usual.

Went back to bed, woke up a few hours later and sat up, and had a wet spot on the bed where I sat up. Hmmmm.

I'm laying down for now and going to see if I get any more leakage, if I do I'm calling my midwife. No contractions AT ALL going on, so that concerns me if my water broke?

Any ideas?

It sounds like what happened to me and was not my water breaking. MW said that more than likely if it had been my water, I would continue to leak, like through several pads. GL!

What is with people and the unsupportive talk? I've heard the same from most people. The biggest (and most surprising) exception was a friend from work who was all for the epidural for herself, but is like me in that she feels whatever you want/think is best for you is all good. She doesn't force her opinions on others. This makes it easy for us to talk about me CD when she doesn't, natural birth that she had no interest in, etc. Why can't everyone be like this?

As for me. Still sitting here. Nothing changed. We went for a long (VERY slow) walk last night. It was beautiful out. I had a couple very strong AF like cramps. Then nothing. My doula says this can happen when walking a lot and I need to take it easy. But that's the closest I've gotten to ANYTHING happening at all. Started the EPO last night. I think I will ask the MW next time I see her about dilation and effaced. I need to know SOMETHING is going on, kwim? I did learn that I might be having contractions I'm not feeling. Anyone heard of that? Apparently sometimes my belly is rock hard, and that's a contraction? I don't feel it internally at all.

The fact that I'm 41 wks tomorrow and haven't really felt any changes is really starting to worry me. I started to think, if I'm going to end up inducing maybe I should do it while my mom is here? She got here yesterday, leaving Thursday. My NST is Wednesday am. Might have another acupuncture appt today. I'm getting scared. Everything else went so easily these 9 months it never occurred to me that the labor/birth would be a problem

YAY to those who might be starting!

Still no baby here. Several hours of good prodomal stuff yesterday and then . . . more nada. Right now my focus has shifted to just trying to get the baby a little lower so that we can start with AROM Wednesday (baby at -2 as of Sat.) Open to any and all advice in that category--been walking, hands and knees, dancing the hula with DD etc. Really discouraged as several people we know IRL who were due A MONTH AFTER ME had term babies this weekend. When mid-august starts having babies, I get just a tad cranky . . .

I think it could be a contraction for sure... that's the only time my belly gets rock hard. My sister had contractions in the hospital 5 min apart and didn't know it until they told her bc she was on a monitor. I think some people just don't feel them as much at the beginning.

neonalee-- that's what I'm wondering about, too! I have lots of "braxton hicks" and some I have to breathe through and then I'll have periods where my belly is hard for EVER at a time.

I don't have anything to go off of except the birth of my first (which was induced), and although I knew I was in labor because of the induction, I was walking around doing dishes and putting away laundry until about an hour before I had her.

So what if it's going on this whole time and I don't even know it? Ack!!

Well, if nothing happens tonight, then my mw is coming over tomorrow for routine 40wk visit, and I imagine we'll just continue to wait it out with no plans for herbal or s&s induction til 42wks.

I think the sex and nip stim is gentle enough for now, though. If I can get my partner to cooperate He is getting weird about the baby's head being right there I'm like, um it was made of come? It's been living in love juices? What difference would it make now?

I'm just BLEH about being pregnant for another week or more! Plus getting a little worried about baby growing to humongous size . . . and being all wore out from weeks of prodromal stuff.

Good luck, mommas! If I could help tip you all over the edge into laborland, I certainly would!

Happy and in love with my family!

Well just like all my labors....long and slow. At least the contractions are short and mellow and once it cranks up it happens fast. Why is my body such a pooky puppy.
Who knew you could poop so much. It has been 24 hours since my first contractions. I am greatful they are well spaced and manageable because when it kicks in I will wish I was back to slow ones....lol
Dad took the kids out so I am laying in bed and watching Jeremiah on Hulu and breathing through the contractions but they are good strong ones maybe with the calm they will pick up. Last night I had them going 90 seconds long today I am at 30-45 sec long on average.
Sending vibes to all you waiters. I am 40 +5 today same as I was with my last pregnancy when he made his appearance.

I just got home from the doc and I'm really upset. I had another S&S by one of the mw's at my doc.

Anyway, They WILL NOT let me go past friday. Induction scheduled for friday morning. I have a few days and really hope the S&S works this time. They're also going to put in a foley catheter Thursday afternoon to see if it pushes me along. I have to go in friday am anyway, so I'd like to do what I can before they start me on pit.

I've been crying since I got home bc this is not what I pictured for my first baby! I didn't want the S&S, or any intervention at all for that matter. Now I'm looking at induction??? Why isn't she coming out on her own? I'm so upset bc the frustration is overwhelming!!! This is why you homebirth... It just wasn't an option for me. My DH was not on board with it at all, so I compromised by finding an ob with midwives.

Please say a little prayer for me that she comes before then.

Dana- wife to wonderful DH, and a non vaxed happy heathly 2 yr old!

oh no, dana!

I am so sorry to hear this.

Between now and then, what can you do? There was a thread in our ddc quite a while back listing natural induction methods . . . it might be exhausting to really hit the natural methods hard the next few days, but if it prevents the cascade of interventions, then it would be worth it.

FWIW, I was induced with my first and had a hospital birth, and I consider it an awesome, victorious, powerful birth experience. I didn't have the pit or IV though and was able to stay home and labor and just check in already pushing---my mw did the s&s and then put half a little pill in my cervix; I went home to labor and then had her abt 10hrs later---I don't know what the pill was, but the combo (plus I took castor oil coz I didn't wanna poo during labor ) got the ctx going. I ended up at the hospital less than 30 min when she was born with no cervical checks and only abt 5min belt monitoring.

If it comes down to Friday, can you talk to the mw's about doing the cervical ripening pill? I wish I knew what it was called . . .

Geez, I wish there was something else I could say to help you out!

Happy and in love with my family!

checking in a little late. I am officially 41 weeks today. Super ready to have my baby, but it is my first. So much cramps here and there, and it is making me so tired. Lost mucous plug last week with bloody show. For some reason I thought for sure labor would start after. I was WRONG.

good luck carlie, hopefully your baby is here by now.

I really feel so bad for all of you overdue mamas, and I should just quit my whining. I'm only 39w3d, but I've been just so convinced that it was happening the last few days, and then it doesn't.

Today's weirdness is intense pressure in my bottom, like I have to poop all the time, but I don't. It's got me really paranoid that she's just going to start crowning with no warning. I've only had widely spaced mild contractions, though they sometimes do last for hours. If I were homebirthing, I wouldn't be so nervous, but since we have to travel 40 minutes to the hospital, it's nervewracking. You'd think I've never done this before.
