violet, I'm curious if you've asked her why she's so insistent on a 41 week cutoff before induction, what her answer was?

I'm 41+1 today. Something shifted last night- more bh and that's continued, and just a different heavier feeling like I feel like a hippo and feel like I can hardly move myself, and baby has changed position a bit. I'm just taking it one day at a time, hoping I won't need to start the induction stuff. If he's not here by this weekend I'll start those thoughts.

9 days past due. I think I can rename this the "Jenny is still waiting" thread.

Is there a reason I shouldn't take castor oil?? I'm going crazy. I'm so so so so so so frustrated. The anxiety level in my house with the kids is so high.

I had ctx all day yesterday and through the night, wouldn't call them labor ctx but good warm up. This morning I am frustrated to the core. I just don't know how long I want to wait before I need to help things along...start to feel like my body is failing me. Brings up a lot for me b/c with my first we induced with castor oil at 19 days and he had issues- he didn't have the energy to do his part is what I believe. And then I cursed myself for not doing that a week sooner. I know this baby is a different baby and that's probably not the case here, but I don't want to get to 42 weeks and think "now what?!"

With the ctx yesterday I felt excited and like I was getting into the zone...and now the zone is just gone and I"m making breakfast for bickering kids and the piano is going and I feel like I"m going to have a headache. whine whine, complain, whine, sorry...I'm just over this part.

Hey Jenny, I hear you on the frustration with waiting and doubting our bodies.
To add to my self pity I have a sinus infection for which I have just started an antibiotic, not the best conditions in which to be entering labourland
Worse again I had fetal assessment today and they wanted to induce me this morning as my fluid levels were 6.8. I asked for a re test tomor morn before I make any decision. I really don't want to be induced esp when I feel sick

41w 6days and I think things are finally happening. Contractions have been about 3-4 minutes apart lasting a minute for about 2.5 hours now. I guess I'm going to be heading into the hospital in the morning...well, hopefully anyway. I was starting to feel like I'd be pregnant forever and I'm still trying not to get my hopes up too much on this, too.

Good luck to everyone else that's still waiting.

Is there a list here of who is still due with their due dates? I keep wondering how many mamas are still waiting.

@mataji4: I'd try the castor oil. Can't really hurt, can it?

I hope this is it for you!

I had (weak) contractions Sunday night every four minutes for several hours, but then they just petered out. It was so frustrating! Here's hoping you're delivering that baby now!

Good luck!

Due July 30, and still pregnant.

Have had some random, irregular contractions daily. Nothing I can time though. Some have been the tight Braxton Hicks-ish kind, and then I've a couple of the lower down painful ones. But only a couple.

Haven't even had a real contraction all day today. Still feel the baby moving and squirming around and all.

I just feel like this whole having a baby thing is a big practical joke on me or something lol.

I have thought and thought and thought about the castor oil but the one thing that keeps me from trying it is worrying that it might make the baby have meconium during delivery, which I've read about being a possible side effect.

So, I don't know.

I have had a good attitude change. I'm 41+3 today, and for some reason today that doesn't sound so "late." I'm just focusing on loving my husband and kids and resting, lounging, eating, taking care of myself and my baby. This is instead of cleaning incessantly, running errands and going to the pool. I feel so much better. And I honestly don't feel the fear of labor thing that has been lingering around me this pregnancy (first time I've felt that)...I feel strong and ready. So hopefully baby and hormones and body will all pick up on all this and I will be allowed the great privilege to labor and birth my baby at home, and soon : )

41w today. MW has me scheduled to induce tomorrow night, starting with Cervidil.

Mataji4: I'm not sure why 41 is her cutoff, but she says things like, "Babies at this stage don't get better -- they just get bigger," and she talks about possible placental issues. I'm not sure if she'd say the same thing if I were younger or not, though she hasn't mentioned my age (I'm 37). She told me Sunday is the absolute latest we can go to start induction, but she'll let it take its time once I'm there.

I did a bunch of walking yesterday (way too hot to walk outside, so I went to the mall and walked laps), and had a bunch of contractions. This morning I had a tiny bit of pinkish/brownish spotting. Really tiny. But I didn't see any mucus. Not sure what that means. Let's hope it means I'm finally dilating some.

Baby was moving a LOT last night, and a bit today as well. But I was also contracting a lot (frequently but mildly), so maybe that's why.

Well I've been hanging around the August ddc even though my due date was July 28th since I realized I was not going to birth in July. Yet, I still pop over here and read everyday to see who is still hanging on like me....

Today I'm at 41+3. This is officially the longest I've ever been pregnant. I've tried really hard to stay positive and ignore the due date recognizing that it is based on a 28 day cycle and knowing my cycle is longer, but man it is hard to not wonder why the heck this baby hasn't made an appearance yet.

I've been trying to assess my cervix and I can tell I'm effaced but it is still so hard to reach I can't tell how dilated I am which is so frustrating. I keep thinking if I could just disturb things a bit I might be able to get something started...ugh!

I hate how this due date thing has made me so crazy the last few days especially. I've been patient the entire pregnancy, but now suddenly once I hit 41 weeks there is this sense of pressure and then the constant questions of when I'm due and my response is "last week," then their response of "wow, that must be awful" or some other negative variation~ it is beyond frustrating now!

Anyway, there is my little rant. Maybe since I've gotten it off my chest I've freed up some emotional space to let this sweet baby come??? Here's hoping!!!

Hey girls still here, 41+3 going on 41+4 in 2 hrs! MW was out on Fri and exmined me, baby has moved from -4 to 0 station and she said cervix is more anterior and 50% effaced. Had bloddy show this morn but no major action at all today. Really hoping things pick up soon as I really want this homebirth. The other good news is that the antibiotics have kicked in and I am feeling much better so bring it on baby we're ready to meet you!!
Hope everyone else is doing ok or even better have babes in their arms

41w1d.

Last night I really thought it was it! I got a little crampy and had some loooong (but not very severe contractions). Got my hospital bag ready, then fell asleep and woke up to a big fat nothing.

Baby is still very active though. For the first time I can feel some of her body parts through my belly, her little back and her spine and her little behind. I hope she's moving into a good position for delivery.

THIS IS SO TRUE! They will come when they are ready. Not that I like hearing or saying that.

Have been having contractions all day but whenever I rest they seem to stop. Ugh, ugh, ugh. Come on already!

Still thinking of you mamas! I'm desperate for sleep already and Aden is screaming his head off.

Violet - one thing 2 of the MWs at my practice mentioned was that babies after 41 weeks sometimes have trouble coming out, but they leave that decision to the mom. Maybe that's why your MW picks 41 wks as her cutoff? The way Aden was positioned he wasn't gonna come out no matter how long I waited, but I am so glad I waited. I think I did the best I could and that's all that matters.

Hang in there!!

Loving mama to Aden (8/5/2010) and DSD (15).

Good luck Mosesface!

I think things may be starting up over here. I'm 41+1 today. Yesterday I had some spotting and this morning bloody show. Had harder contractions last night, and woke up 8 times from them. They are starting in my back now instead of just the frontal bands/BH I was getting. Had lots of pulling/tugging and crampy feeling last night too. Feels like my period.

But the contractions are still very irregular and not so frequent. I'm scheduled for Cervidil tonight, but hoping to go in already in labor and skip that part. I figure I must have dilated some to get the bloody show and all, so maybe I'll be past the Cervidil point?
