So we just found out we are having our fourth little girl and I have been working on names and need help! We are looking for names that start with M. Dh likes the name Madeline, I like it but, I think it's getting a little too common. I like the name Madigan but dh says it sounds like mad again. We already have a Morgan. Any suggestions? Oh, middle name will be Ruth after my late mil.
For what it's worth, I can't remember where I read it but, basically it said that name popularity isn't what it was 20 years ago. There variety of names being used these days is so huge that even if you pick the most popular name it's unlikely that they will be one of 5 named that in their class (like I was).
Madeline has always been a favorite of mine too - I love the nickname Maddy/Maddie.
Other nice ones:
Moira
Madison/Madisyn
Mackensie
Makinna
Mona
Makayla/Mikayla
Mallorie/Mallory
Mara (or Maralynn)
Mariah
Marianne
Marilyn
Marissa
Miranda
Marsala
Monica
Martina
McKenna
Megan
Meira
Melanie
Michelle
Melody/Melodi
I just saw this on new posts. I have a new little niece named mary kate and after everyone gets over the whole mary kate and ashley thing, they say it is the cutest name ever! She also has a seperate middle name. I love it.
I know someone who just named their daughter Matilda. I like that it can be shortened to Mattie or Tilda.
If you like Maggie, there's also Magdalene, which can be shortened. One of my coworkers named his daughter Margaret, and as far as I know, she doesn't have any nicknames yet. Maggie Ruth is cute.
Also, there is
Mavis
May
Maeve
Millicent (Millie)
Marisol
Miranda
I think any name starting with M and ending with n will be too similar to Morgan. I like the nickname Maggie a lot myself, so any of the long versions of that.
I have a cousin named Marisa (Said mar-e-sa) and I always thought that was lovely. I also like the names Marybelle, Marjorie, and Marlene. Good luck. We will soon be racking our brains for our little one too. Hopefully after we narrow down the possible pool by half when we find out the gender next week.
I like Maryn, Marina, or Martine. The women I've met with these names are strong, confident, kinds and intelligent.... so that's what personality traits they make me think of.
A name we're considering for our baby girl is Margaret. We'd call her Maggie.
