Hi all! Just wanted to announce our baby girl was born Aug 25th at 9:26 am via scheduled c-section. She weighed 5 lbs 13 ounces and 19.25 inches long. She's simply perfect and adorable and I love her to pieces!!!!

I know I don't post here much, but I thought I'd tell my story. I had a previous c-section, so my hospital policy is once a section/always a section. We are in a rural town with a small hospital. Anyway, baby girl was actually breech too, so I was bound to have a c-section.

The epideral was a nightmare. They tried to do it 5 or 6 times, with nerve pains shooting down my legs and in my back. Finally, he ended up doing a spinal after almost 2 hours of failure. I was crying, scared, and in pain. Surgery went fine. Afterward, I had the dreaded spinal headache. This pain was like no other I have ever experienced. It was mostly nerve pain in my neck, back, and arms whenever I was upright. I had to lay flat on my back for any sort of relieve. Pain meds didn't cut through the pain. On the 4th night, I was back at the hospital for a blood patch. This procedure involved another epideral, but instead of medicine, they injected my own blood to clot and cover the hole where spinal fluid was leaking out. I was once again terrified, but couldn't bare the pain anymore. It actually worked and I feel worlds better now.

I just wanted to let you mama's know that the 3 to 5 percent chance of this happening, happened to me. I'm so very thankful my baby is healthy and I am on the road to recovery now, but this was a scary experience for our family.

We are so joyful to have this little baby and so thankful I am feeling better. Much love Mamas.

Congrats on your new baby girl Pacifica! I'm sorry you had such a terrible recovery with the spinal headache - I've heard some awful things about those. Glad to hear you are on the mend. Enjoy your babymoon!

Congratulations pacifica! Welcome, BABY!

(And oof on the spinal headache...I had one of those for a few days after a botched spinal tap, then went and got the blood patch...you're a brave, strong lady to be dealing with all that AND a c-section AND a new baby! Hope your recovery is fast, and keep us updated on how you're doing!)

Thanks so much Mamas! It's great to have my baby in my arms. So very thankful to be done with the spinal issues too. I still have to take it easy, but I do it by hanging out with my beautiful baby girl!

Congratulations, pacifica!

I know at least three women who have had a spinal headache after epidural. Two were for childbirth and one was for major surgery. They all described it as excruciating. One seriously thought she was going to die. It made a big impression on me and is one of the reasons I would much rather deal with the pain of contractions than an epi. You are one brave mama! So glad the blood patch worked quickly and enjoy your beautiful baby!

Congratulations on the birth of your baby! I wish you a speedy recovery. The whole experience sounds like it was very traumatic and painful. Ouch. I'm glad the pain is better.
