We had our baby last night at 7:02pm. She was born in the bath tub. We didn't know what we were having and I'm happy to have another girl.
She weighs 6lbs. 7oz. and is 19 1/2 in.
Sunday morning I woke up at 1:45 am with contractions. They were 8 minutes apart and lasted for 2 hours. Around 3:30 I got up, had some toast and tea and decided to try and go back to sleep. When I woke up to pee later I had another contraction but just went right back to sleep. Then when I woke up for the day I had contractions around 10 minutes apart. The more I walked around the less I felt them and the longer the space was between them. We went to church an hour away and out to a sit down restuarant for lunch. We left the restuarant around 2pm. On the way home I had a little bit stronger contractions every 10 min. We got home at 2:30. I had a prenatal appointment scheduled for 4:30 since my midwife had been with another Mom the day before. We were home for 45 minutes and I didn't have any contractions the whole time. The older kids stayed with my SIL and just my husband and I left at 3:15 for the midwives. On the way I finally told my husband that I had been having contractions all day.
The drive is over an hour so we had to stop at a gas station on the way so I could pee, but I only had maybe 5 contractions all the way there. I did time one to see how long it lasted and it was 50 sec. We got to the midwife at 4:30 and left at 5. I only had one very weak contraction while there. My mw said that she would be around town that evening and if they start to pick up then call her right away. She didn't check me and I didn't ask her too. She said that maybe I should get a notebook and record my contractions. On the drive home I had a contraction at 5:08 that lasted 45 sec, one at 5:21 that lasted 1 minute and during that one I told my husand that when I got into real labor we are going to have a fun drive back to the midwife. Then at 5:33 I had another contraction and during that one MY WATER BROKE
. I had all my birth supplies in with us, so I hopped up and climbed into the back of the van, laid underpads on the floor, and all the water gushed onto them. There was only a small spot on the front seat where I had been sitting. I told my husband that we would need to turn around and go back to the midwife. I called the midwife and she said that she would meet us back at the house that we were going to be delivering at. She said to grab something to eat on the way since it was supper time. We took that next exit and stopped at a gas station so I could pee and change since my clothes were soaked. Then we headed back. My contractions were still 10 minutes apart, but some of them were 1 minute long. At 6:20 we stopped at Subway to get supper. They didn't have a drivethru so my husband said that I should write down what I wanted and he would order for me. But I couldn't think what I wanted so I hopped out and went in to order for my self. It felt so weird to be standing there with water gushing, having contractions and be ordering food.
I had the guy take my order then I went to the bathroom while my husband ordered his own and paid. We started driving again. I didn't really feel like eating but I figured if we were in for a long night I should eat. So I got the sub down before I had any more contractions. Then they started coming every 5 minutes apart starting at 6:35. We got to the midwife at 6:45. My husband, the midwife and her assistant hauled in the birth supplies. I headed upstairs and told the midwife I had to pee. She said that's fine but then she wanted me to lay on the bed to check the position again. Well, I didn't leave the bathroom. I got up off the toilet and started to get pressure so my husband came and put pressure on my back. That felt sooo good. Then with the next contraction I felt the urge to push, so I sat back on the toilet.
The midwife told my husand, "get her up!" lol, so they helped me into the tub. That was SUCH a HUGE relief!!! I had felt the first pushing urge at 6:55 and was in the tub at 6:56. The midwife checked for the hearbeat at 6:59. Then my baby was crowning at 7:01 and the head was born. The midwife had me try and breath her out and I did try but I just wanted it over with and just pushed. Then I had to wait for the next contraction before the body was born. She was born underwater at 7:02pm.
We actually didn't even check to see what she was for a few minutes, but we are sooo in love!! She's been a great baby and is a pro at nursing. We headed home at 9:30pm.
