BBM-I hope you don't mind me pulling this out so everyone sees. I've been obsessively checking the other thread, and almost missed your pic! Congrats!

I am a terrible birth buddy! I had a semi-meltdown all day long yesterday and failed to post this info texted to me by BBM.

Caleb Scott was born at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, September 12, 2010.
6 lbs 14 oz

"Despite the threat of c-section, labored 41 hours, we did it with only minimal interventions (pit and before that an hour's worth of stadol) He had the BIGGEST cone head! He has black curly hair and ginormous blue eyes that never close. He only cries when the nurses make him and he is not hungry yet, so we are just getting to know him."

BBM, so proud of you and baby! You are a strong and wonderful mama who totally kicked @$$ during a 41 hour labor!!!

Mary, proud to be a mama to Andrew (9/14/10) and Caroline (7/27/13) and wife to Matt.

I posted on the thread with the picture but I had to respond to this. Holy cow, 41 hours of labor? You're amazing mama. Congrats on your beautiful baby.

Thank you all so much for your congrats! It was sooo hard, poor little guy never turned around from his sunny-side-up (Posterior) position. I gave in after 36 hours of laboring and had an hours worth of Stadol so that I could regain my strength and rest. When it wore off we started on Pitocin even though we were assured that we may have lost any chance of birthing him naturally. There was talk of c-section and the first two hours of the Pitocin were pretty emotional for us because it didn't seem like it was doing much more than stressing the poor little guy out. The contractions finally picked back up in intensity and the baby and I were both under a lot of stress, but we worked through them, He was born drug free and kicking after just an hour and a half of pushing after the almost four hours of Pitocin. His apgars were 8 and 9, the nurse informed me that they do not like to give 10's. He was very alert for the first 3 hours he was here. I love him so much, he has such a sweet, wise and curious nature! He only woke up twice last night and is very easy to please. He has been nursing beautifully and except for the time I let him roll his head around to look about as he was nursing (I have a nice hickey on my areola), it has been pain free and he has been easy to latch. His father was amazing, and the very best birhing companion I could have asked for. I am so much more deeply and profoundly in love with him, and am very thrilled to see that the love and emotion I have had for Caleb has only grown in intensity with each passing minute. We were discharged after our mandatory 24 hour stay.

Despite the hours of unproductive back labor and the 1.5 hours of pushing my downstairs seems to have survived better than could be imagined. No tears, cuts, swelling. Walking has been rather... interesting.

My dog has been a super grand big sister, and I have never seen a happier dog as when she got to see her "baby brother" for the first time.

"A baby will make love stronger, days shorter, nights longer, bank balance smaller, home happier, clothes dirty, the past forgotten, and the future worth living for." ~A.U.

Oh, mama I feel for you!! Posterior birth is soooo hard. I can't believe you did it with no drugs (okay just a bit of stadol, which doesn't really get rid of the pain) for so many hours. Wow, and no tears? You are AMAZING!!! Congrats again!!
