I woke up this morning completely freaked out and utterly convinced my pregnancy is ectopic. I'm feeling slightly more rational about the odds of that now, but I'm still worried. I've been dealing with primarily right-sided crampy pains pretty much constantly for a week--this was the first pregnancy symptom I noticed, and by far the most persistent. It looks like that could be perfectly normal...or it could not.
I keep hearing that nobody wants to see me until week 7 or 8, and that's the soonest I can get an OB appt from my old practice, even when I mentioned my concerns...but that seems like a long time to wait and worry.
I hate having to be the squeaky wheel, but I should listen to my body, right?

Listening to your body is extremely important. If your intuition is telling you something is wrong, by all means find a care provider who will see you ASAP.

At the same time, the pain from an ectopic is not generally described as cramping. It is usually intense pain, starting early and not really letting up. My friend who had an ectopic was in doubled-over, excruciating pain from the beginning. I've heard several women who've had ectopic pregnancies say something to the effect of "If you had an ectopic, you wouldn't be wondering" because the pain is that intense.

I hope everything is just fine and you're able to put your fears to rest, whether or not that means having things checked out. Good luck!

Not sure if what you're feeling is irrational, but I've been feeling the same way. I've had mostly left-sided crampiness. I'm just trying to remain calm and optimistic. I'm listening to my body. So far, my cramps aren't bad, so an ectopic is something that has crossed my mind, but I also tend to be a bit of a worrier. I'd say if your pain gets worse and persists or you start bleeding then you should see someone ASAP. More than likely, like Sihaya said, you'll be in serious pain with an ectopic, even though I know one woman who had no pain and her's was found on an ultrasound. Chances are good though, that we both have healthy pregnancies in our uteruses!

Me, married to DH, my childhood sweetheart. Lucky mom to an amazing DD (10/15/10), , a funny little DS (1/11/13) , and 3 silly dogs. Expecting someone new February 14, 2015!
