How's everyone doing? I'm 7w5d, feeling a lot more nausea than any of my other pregnancies. I haven't actually gotten sick yet, but I think it's possible

I have an appt with the new OB next Monday, I can't wait. I really hope she does an u/s, it's so hard not being paranoid about losing the baby after losing the last two. No way can I wait till 12 weeks to try and hear a heartbeat.

I'm hanging in... 9w4d (if you go by u/s) or 9w flat (if you go by ovulation date) here. I think I like going by the u/s date for now, in the first tri. Makes me feel like I'm making more progress. Lol. I know it's only 4 days difference, but still. Heehee... yet I INSIST on keeping my 10/4 due date. I'm such a freak.

Just as I think my nausea is subsiding (which kind of freaks me out... I hate feeling sick, but at least it's a reminder of a (hopefully) healthy pregnancy), it returns full force. I think I'm learning better how to eat to make the nausea less, though. More frequent meals, but smaller portions.

I have my second midwife appointment next Tuesday. I kind of wish it was in 2 weeks so we could have a shot at hearing the heartbeat. Anyone hear it between 10 and 11 weeks before? Too early, right??

Sigh. We decided to forgo the NT scan, but now I'm wondering if we should reconsider so we can get another look at the bean. I know that's crazy talk, but it was so reassuring to see it!

In other news, I got an "I'm pregnant!!!" email from someone who's relationship to me I cannot disclose (in case any family/friends are on MDC) but all I can say is that I'm just as excited for her as I am for myself! Whooohooooo!

Part hippie-chick, part type-A career woman, all mama. Enjoying life as a wife to my partner of 11 years, and a mama to our smarty-pants toddler, Cadence.

Good morning all.
I'm at 9weeks. I'm just glad I survived the marathon work week last week and I didn't get my kids' colds. I just layed around all weekend and went to bed at 8:30pm. Luckily I won't have to work again anytime soon.

I haven't had bad naseau but I haven't felt great either. I just don't feel good in my skin. And I'm just tired and cranky.

My first midwife appointment is in 15 days.

Happy March everybody!

Wife to French hubby (8/02), Mama to DD (3/05) and DS (02/07) and (3/10)

babsbob~ Yah for not getting sick!! Good luck waiting for your first appt! It's SO hard to wait!!

Lyndzies~ I SO know what you mean about the due dates!! The due date I came up with was 10/23, but my midwife wrote down 10/24. I still wanna stay with my 10-23! And that's only ONE day difference! HEheheheeh

I have to eat several small meals instead of bigger ones as well. And I have to eat often. I don't have any bad m/s yet though, but it didn't come on full force until I was 8 weeks with DD.

CherryBomb~ Could you rent a doppler or buy one? They're only about $50 and you could use them again for any other pregnancies. I think we are going to buy one (I kinda plan on having a UC some day..possibly with the 3rd baby?). My MW said I would probably be able to hear the HB in like 2 weeks with as fast as I am growing right now. I am already measuring at 9.5 weeks pregnant and I'm only 6 weeks!!

ASF: I am 6 weeks 3 days! I had my first midwife appt yesterday and it went well, aside from the fact that I have a pretty darn bad UTI...but I NEVER get any symptoms! I think I might have gotten it when we were TTC so much!! I think I might have had it for a while now. I am guzzling water down like crazy and drinking cranberry juice, taking probiotics, and tonight I'm gonna make hubby get some raw garlic and I'll do some apple cider vinegar today too. Yuck! Anything that will get rid of this though! I really really wanna do it all naturally w/o abx. With DD I had a UTI so bad around 13 weeks that I landed myself in the ER puking my guts out and very very dehydrated. They put me on abx and I'd like to avoid that this time!!! I think it might have damanged DD's teeth!

Anyway, I have to babysit for a friend of mine today so my goal is to drink tons of water and cranberry juice and stay away from sugar today!!! Wish me luck!

9 weeks today and i think my ms has peaked. i'm literally counting down the days til 12 weeks and it can't come fast enough. i hate feeling this way. i strive to live in the moment and wishing it away like this just really sux; especially knowing this is my last.

@ a pp re: fetal heart beat, it's possible to pick it up starting at 9 weeks. i own a doppler and have been checking the last few days--no luck, tho.

i was having my first feelings of ambivalence last night looking at my sweet little man sleeping next to me in bed. he's still such a bald little baby w/ his big head still so out of proportion w/ his body--like a true baby still. i've never had a baby this close to another and i hope hope hope i'm not cutting him short. and then looking around at the distruction that's currently my house due to being stuck in bed all weekend and the kids being left to their own devices. i worry that i'm getting in way over my head w/ adding a new person to the mix, but rationally, i know it's just this 1st tri and i'm nothing like my bad-ass, always-on-top-of-everything-and-enjoying-the-challenge self. i think i'll just use it as a reminder that we all need to have a family talk to discuss all pitching in like a team.

i changed my username, btw, from ladyelms because everyone i know ftf knows it's my handle, and w/ not having announced the pregnancy yet... my kids still don't even know yet, and my oldest man-child is notorious for googling me. (he's dropped several hints that make me think he's caught on, the little turkey)

Lotusma, I fell so much the same as you. I want to enjoy every moment of this pregnancy knowing it is my last. That is so hard though when you don't feel good. I love a clean house, but mine looks like a disaster at the moment. I feel like getting through the day with my kids fed and taken care of is all that I can handle at the moment.

This is also my closest set of kids. My girls are 2 years apart, than dd and ds are 29 months apart. These two will be just under 18 months apart and my ds is such a baby still. I don't want to him to grow up faster than he has to. I am very excited just overwhelmed sometimes. lol

I heard the h/b on doppler at my 8ish week appt with DD...so it may not be too early at all!

Wish I were further along too...I will be getting an early u/s at 6w 2 or 3 days so that I can (G0d willing) see the heartbeat (please please please).

On the good news front, I got my repeat beta numbers this morning -- looking really good at 165 for 14dpo (Saturday). That works out to a doubling time of ~31 hours. That's good news, and I feel pretty relieved.

BUT. I had some spotting last night. Nothing major, more brownish/pinkish than anything else, and it was gone within an hour or two, but it still completely freaked me out. I couldn't sleep, my heart was racing, etc etc. I finally came to the conclusion that I must have nicked my cervix or something when I was putting in the progesterone caplet. Once I came up with that very plausible idea, I was able to relax a bit and fall asleep -- but overall the nerves are really, really getting to me despite my attempts to relax, enjoy the current reality, and just be.

Any ideas to calm down would be really welcome...

I feel the same way. I have 3 kids similar in ages to yours. I have a dd who is 5, another dd who is 2 1/2, and a ds who is 8 months. My new baby and my son will be 15 months apart. I have been on the couch all weekend and my house looks like a tornado came through.

CherryBomb - I know exactly how you feel. I've had two losses before this one too and it's so nerve wracking. I'm 7w today and go for a scan this afternoon. I'm so nervous about it.

Lyndzies - I got a doppler with DD and could get her heartbeat at 9weeks. Congrats for your friends pregnancy I have a pregnant friend too who is due a couple weeks before me. It's very exciting!

xtara2003x - I used to get symptom free UTI's when I used to get them too. Water, water, water. Loads of it. Along with the other remedies you've suggested. And stay away from acidic foods too.

Lotusma - I've been having those feelings too and my DD had just turned two. I worry how I'll spread myself between them.

calihannah - sorry to hear about the spotting . I hope it's nothing but it's still so scary isn't it. Here's what I do when I'm having a freak out. I lie down in bed (at night or when DD is napping) and talk to the baby in my head. I tell him/her how much they are wanted and loved by all of us. How excited we are to be expecting and so on.

AFM - 7 weeks today and go for scan this afternoon. So 9 hours from now. Not counting down or anything . I cant wait to update with good news. I'm driving myself crazy with nerves.

Melly, good luck with the scan! Let us know how it goes

Tara, I have actually considered buying or renting a doppler. Since you mentioned I checked ebay and decided to buy this one. I still have awhile before I'll be able to hear the baby's heartbeat, but I know I'll feel a lot better if I can check in on baby myself. I'm nearly hysterical half the time, every twinge or cramp or change in symptoms and I'm terrified I'm going to miscarry again, uggh.

Dd1 and dd2 were 4 years apart, dd2 and dd3 were 32 months apart. Dd3 and this baby will be 31 months apart. Dd2 is developmentally delayed, so she was more like 18-24 months when dd3 was born, so I'm sure this will go fine

I had my ultrasound today!

Healthy little bean with a heartrate of 126, measuring 6w4d - pretty close to my estimate of 6w6d.

The dr. also gave me a refill of prometrium, enough to last through the first trimester.

So I think I can FINALLY relax and realize everything is going to be ok!

I'm 5 weekish (I need to nail what day I am exactly. )

We are going to be moving this week. I'm stressing out, there is so much to do and I'm so tired! I was really tired last time and doesn't seem to be any different this time.

Not looking forward to the long car trip, the packing, unpacking and everything that goes along with it.

I also need to find some new friends (), a playgroup and a midwife! It's just a bit overwhelming right now.

Okay, sorry about all of the venting.

I just got one too! I got this one

I should get it in about a week! I'm so excited! My MW said she thought I'd be able to hear the HB around 8 weeks or so because of how big my uterus is already! That would be AMAZING!!

I'm just about 8w today! Had my first appointment with the nurse today to get all the paperwork out of the way. Seeing the doc on Wednesday for the full workup and heartbeat ultrasound thingy. I am so nervous that they're going to find it's a blighted ovum or something. Crossing my fingers for some good news!!

I've been nauseous for 2 weeks but I finally threw up for the first time today. Yay! The nurse today told me about the Unisom/B6 thing so I'm thinking about trying it...I can't imagine feeling like this for a whole nother month. Nothing is getting done around the house and poor DH is subsisting off frozen food.

I had my first full appointment with the midwives today (as opposed to an interview). I love how they spend so much time with you just chatting and answering questions and really getting to know you. We did a baseline hemoglobin (14. yay!), urine dip (everything good), and paperwork. And they gave me a big bag of pregnancy tea

Lyndzies - I heard DS with the MW at 9 weeks. I had a brief second of hearing him before that around 7 to 8 weeks with the doppler at work. I also used our doppler at work on a friend to hear her baby at 8 weeks. It's a BP doppler, no bigger than a dime so I don't know the difference in sensitivity.

xtar2003x - make sure you are drinking pure cranberry juice without added sweetener and other additives in it. If you can't stomach plain cranberry juice, try to find one with blueberry. Blueberry also had pH balancing abilities. Do you use homeopathy? Pulsatilla has worked for me (and one of my cats) in the past. There are a few different homeopathic remedies for UTIs as each has a certain remedy picture.

AFM - 6 weeks by LMP. I still have super sore boobs and I'm getting more nauseous. I don't have the energy to make anything for myself, but I feel icky if I don't have something in my stomach. I'm finding more foods that are starting to turn me off. Like eggs. Blech. And I can't stand water right now. I'm drinking a lot of it and I normally don't mind it, but I am needing something with food.

I'm definitely drinking the pure cranberry juice. It's SOO much different than the sugar stuff! WOW! I haven't seemed to find one with blueberry in it...but that would taste soo much better! I've been mixing it with water and ice cubes and I can get it down alright. My MW said to drink an ENTIRE BOTTLE of it today. I seriously can't. I could barely drink half. I don't know what to do. I DO NOT WANT abx..but I can NOT drink an entire bottle in one day of this stuff! UGH!

I got kefir, yogurt, garlic, and I'm drinking a ton...my urine is definitely clear now. I am really really trying here...but it is just nearly impossible to drink that much of this stuff for me! *sigh* I'm also doing the D Mannose powder...and I may go to the HFS and get the capsules once the powder my friend gave me is gone.

The hard thing for me is I FEEL normal. I'm not sick, it doesn't burn when I pee, etc. I DO notice a different smell down there and there seems to be discharge, but that seems to be normal for me in pregnancies. Ugh.

How likely are you to be positive for Group B Strep if you have a UTI? I have heard many women seem to test positive for both at the same time? I wasn't planning to get a group b strep test at all this time as I'm having a HB. I haven't talked to my MW about that though.

And I am the same way about the m/s.....I need something in my tummy at all times or I feel sick! I wake up in the morning and I just NEED FOOD!

Lyndzies - you should be able to hear it by now! I heard a friend's at her first m/w appt at 8/9 weeks.

I am doing the n/t 11-12 week scan, but mostly just so I can get a really good luck a the baby, I'm not really worried about a trisomy or a neural tube defect, I just want the u/s.

I'm 9 weeks tomorrow, maybe I should get a doppler. . .apparently the U/S sounds like a train bearing down on the fetus and the doppler sounds like a car. That's kind of scary to me, but really, I would like more reassurance please!

Likely, I'll get a doppler, but I would get my own personal u/s machine if I could.

Mistymama - Great news! I loved seeing that little flicker!

Calihannah - I had really, really scary bright red with a few clots spotting right about where you are now. It was terrifying but everything was just fine in the end.

xtara2003x - how was your UTI confirmed? Was this by a dipstick or an actual sediment? If diagnosed by dipstick, I would ask for a sediment to be done to look for actual bacteria, RBCs and WBCs. Dipsticks can be wrong when it comes to testing for WBCs.

It was with a dipstick. The one she had had like 10 things that it tested for. Each thing was a square on the test and then you had to compare it to a color chart to see what color the square was and what it means.

My MW doesn't do a lot of testing per say....so part of me wonders if I should go in to an OB to get an actual test done and see what it says. Do you think that would be worth it? I'm having a HB so I didn't really plan to use any hospitals or anything, but I could go to the CNM in the hospital that delivered DD. I'm not sure how she would like the idea of me having a HB though....

So this is a question I keep running up against -- if you're planning a HB but also have another care provider (whether for dual care or just for early on), how do you broach the subject of the homebirth with your other care provider?

I'm seeing my OB from DD's birth right now for the first tri because I'm a nervous wreck and need the interventionist care early on that I absolutely DON'T want later in pregnancy. I do know that I don't want to birth with her again, though.

So...how do you broach this topic with your care provider, or do you just wait until you're ready to break up with them, so to speak?

DD March 2007...happily nursing, EC graduated, family-bed-sharing family... expecting another in early November!
