Does anyone have a sleep pillow recommendation for when I have to start sleeping on my side?
By the way, at how many weeks do we have to avoid sleeping on our back? I'm 15 weeks now and still sleep on my belly bc i have no bump yet (just a layer of fat! )

i'm not sure if there is a set time, i just went to my side when it was uncomfortable to sleep on my belly.
i always use several pillows (head, in between knees and under my back) so i have no recs. for a sleep pillow.

I got the Snoogle body pillow, and so far I really like it. I was worried it would take up too much room in bed, but it takes up less room than having a regular pillow between my knees (and sometimes another pillow to wrap my arms around). My husband doesn't mind it at all... he actually likes to use it too if he's taking a nap or I'm not using it.

The only thing I don't like is that the cover is a poly/cotton blend. There is a replacement cover you can buy that's all cotton, but I thought it was too expensive. I'm just going to sew my own cover from an old sheet. For now I've just been putting a regular pillowcase over the part of the pillow where I put my head.

I got my pillow at Buy Buy Baby with a 20% coupon, but you can get it on Amazon too:

I have a standard body pillow, not sure about brand because it was a hand me down. I'm not sure about the sleeping on the back part, I'm thinking it's not till closer to 3rd trimester, but I'm not sure.

I keep hearing wonderful things about the Snoogle pillow. I'm really wanting to invest into one myself!

Standard medical advice is to not lie on your back for extended periods after the start of the second trimester.

Typical midwife advice is that you can lie on your back as long as you feel comfortable in that position - your body will tell you if you need to move.

I use a boppy pregnancy comfort cuddle pillow. It has many drawbacks (does not provide much support, and it's a little wide in bed, the filling tends to separate in the spot that goes between the legs) however, I really like it because it's super squishy, and I can squish it up against/under my belly and feel very comfortable with it. I also like that it's not super long, so turning from side to side isn't too bad.

I have, and love, a Snoogle.

In fact...I was on side-lying bedrest for 2 months last pregnancy, and that thing was a LIFESAVER.

I can use it two ways - I can have it behind me and lean back, or I can turn toward it and lean forward. So, it can approximate tummy sleeping or back sleeping.

Also, my two-year-old still comes into bed with me, and he can snuggle into it with me while he nurses or just snuggles. It's like a little cocoon for him

B, happily married to M. Mother to two boys: B (3/08) and A (9/10)
