Wednesday, Sept. 29th, I had my mw appt for 11am. She said she could sweep my membranes if I wanted her to, I gladly accepted
She said I was 3 cms dialated already!
and that the sweeping would cause some contrax. DH and I left her office and went to the library. Started having some contrax around 1230pm at the library, but was able to ignore them and move on. They were probably in the neighborhood of 10 minutes or so apart. We picked up DS from Mimi's house, and contrax became a little closer together and more attention-getting, but still not bad. We went home and put DS down for his nap and I laid down as well. Contrax stopped, but I did have 2 while I was napping that woke me up. I got up around 4:30pm and walked my dog. Contrax started back up when I went outside. This time they were probably about 5-7 minutes apart and lasting a bit longer. I went back inside and decided to use the contraction master on the internet to time them. They were coming 2-3 minutes apart and lasting about a minute. I really wanted to think this was "it", but didn't want to be let down, if they stopped. At about 6PM, I used the restroom and there was tons of bloody show. So, that got me thinking, we should probably make some calls to MW and doulas and family that would be attending the birth at our home. I decided to help make dinner and would call MW after we finished. Contrax were **** 2-3 minutes apart and 1 minute in length. It felt good to lean over a table or counter while contracting. We called my midwife and told her the details, and she said she would be right over! I called my main doula and when I told her what was happening she said, " oh heavens" lol, that's when I knew I was "officially" in labor haha! MW got to the house around 830pm and my DH wasn't able to fill up the tub yet, since no one else was around to take care of DS. MW checked me and I was 6cms!! I could get in the tub!! But, it wasn't filled up yet
So, I did most of the laboring on my bed on all fours since baby was OP. Luckily, I think he must have turned rather quickly, because, I didn't have any back labor, thank goodness! I had back labor with DS1. BOW broke on the bed(of course) after *just* being on the toilet lol. Contrax started becoming almost unbearable and thankfully the tub was just about full! I practically ran to the tub to get in. For whatever reason, being in the water didn't really make me feel any better. It felt nice, but didn't help the contrax. I had gotten in the tub at about 10pm and started to feel pushy at about 11ish. MW checked and I was only 7cms
I was quite disappointed about that. I had a few more contrax and felt the overwhelming urge to push, and had a few good poops
I turned over to see if it would help the urge go away, and it didn't. So, MW checked me again and I just had a lip of my cervix left to go so she just pushed it back over the baby's head. I pushed twice and they said they could see his head! The burn was worse with this one. DH said I pushed four times and his head was out! He also had his hand up by his neck when he came out, so I tore a little. He made his glorious entrance into this world at 11:19 pm! I got to snuggle him a little in the tub and tell everyone that he was a boy! Then we had Elias come meet his little brother and he said "he's so cute!" and he wanted in the tub with me, but I didn't let him, since the water was getting bloody. I got out and went to our bed and nursed him for the first time, he latched right on and stayed on for about 45 minutes! He is such a little snuggler, we just adore him!
