Im not at the point where I can write out the whole story, but my baby girls are here. I had a natural twin VBAC in the hospital It was hard, very hard but absolutely worth it and I would do it again in a heartbeat.

Johanna Grace 10/17 at 1150 am
Charlotte Faith 10/17 at 1215pm

More details to come

See post 15 for details!!!

Thanks all!

I went into my MW appt on Thursday 10-14 and she said the OB felt like it was time to help things along. At that time I was 4 cm and almost 40 weeks with twins. They are both very noninterventional and so I truly did trust his decision that it was time. She 'talked' to my cervix, had me do some homeopathics, and the plan was Friday night to take the "birth cocktail"

Friday night I take it. It did make me contract but eventually the contractions fizzled away. Some were uncomfortable and were labor like but they never picked up their intensity. I went to bed that night at about 3am pretty dissapointed.

On Saturday DH let me sleep in until 11. That was AWESOME. I woke up, ate, and noticed around 1pm that the contractions were back. They gradually picked up in intensity and strength. I was talking to my MW and she was updating the OB and we all decided when they got to be every 3 minutes it would be time to head to the hospital.

At about 9pm my MW called and said the OB was getting uncomfortable and wanted to check on the babies. AHH. I was so mad. I dont know why - they were every 4 minutes and I was moaning through them. It was getting to the point where I was thinking we should maybe head in, but it was just being told to come in. I called and talked to him and he said I could have another hour, and I remember saying but I dont know if I am really in labor yet. LOL.

Well then we get to the hospital, I meet the MW there. They monitor the babies intermittently and I have this awful backache and cant stay still but i still swear the contractions have gone away. The doctor did not want to chekc me at that time bc he didnt want a starting point cervix wise. I remember being mad that I was there, not sleeping, with my back ache. I was tossing and turning.

At around 7 he comes into the room and looks at the babies, does an ultrasound, and then sits down on the couch. I was telling him how I really wasnt in labor and wanted to go home. Then my MW says, well why dont you check her....

He checks me and says, I'm sorry you cant go home. I think I burst into tears at that point, when he said, you are 7-8 cm dilated, I thought you werent in labor and he laughed.

I started to then admit I was really contracting. An hour later he broke my water. I think they added a little Pitocin too but honestly I was so in labor land I am not sure.

The babies were looking decent but started to show we needed to move things along. I had a really floppy cervix, so I did have to push past it. OUCH that was hard. Johanna also was OT so they needed to turn her. I pushed on the stool and then in the bed.

Then all of a sudden I really felt her there and they were getting everything ready. My MW found a mirror and I could see her crowning and coming out. That was absolutely amazing.

I loved on Johanna for probably 10 minutes when they started to get worried about my bleeding. They just wanted to make sure my scar was okay, so they did have to explore it. Honestly everything was numb down there at that point. I know Charlotte also turned transverse so the doctor turned her externally and then had to push her hand out of the way. After that she came right out. I dont really remember pushing much with her.

I got to love on both of them and nurse before they did anything else.
It was definately hard but the whole time I felt so safe and in labor land. I felt like it was as close to being at home as a hospital birth could be.

The PP part well - Charlotte had to stay longer bc of bili issues and I was NOT a fan of their policies/procedures there but we are all home now and it is wonderful

Wow! What an amazing birth story!!!!
I am anxious to hear how much they weighed at almost 40 weeks though... You NEVER hear of twins being 'allowed' to cook that long! Way to go MW and OB
and you're one awesome mama yourself!!!
Congratulations! Enjoy your baby girls!

Oops, how could I leave off the weights.

Johanna weighed 6 lbs 4 oz and 19 inches
Charlotte weighed 5 lbs 4 oz and 18 1/2 inches

(my older daughter was only 6 lbs 10 oz at 42 weeks so i just dont cook huge babies -- thankfully!!)

Yeah, I know most dont 'allow' twins to go that far. My Ob just said from the beginning... they are kind of two weeks ahead. I know he's had some go past 40 weeks. He said at 38 weeks, he wanted to monitor more bc it was equivalent to 40 weeks.

It was funny when I talked to him and was saying I didnt want to go in, he said - you are like 43 weeks pregnant, you need to... hahha!
