... thought i'd start a thread to discuss weight/exercise tips/support and general giggles at the jiggles...

mostly because I just weighed myself for the first time pp (7weeks pp) WHY did i do that, i knew it'd bum me out, but ive just been given the all clear to start working out (gently) again. though i have had absolutely NO advice or tips on post CS exercises. anyone got any?

back to the weight thing - i'm 17lbs over my comfort zone ARGH, still im in a healthy range for my height so i guess that's something lol

at this stage with DS i was 53lbs over so really i should be jumping for joy... but yeh i'm a bit ARGH still lol

I'm 15 pounds over my pre pregnancy weight and my pre pregnancy clothes don't fit.  At this point, I'm pretty exhausted most days and maybe still suffering from a bit of the blues (even though I'm 9 weeks postpartum) so I'm focusing mainly on what I eat.  Basically, I'm just trying to not stuff anything and everything into my mouth without thinking like I could always do before.  I've never been in a position where I wanted to lose weight before.

I found a local meetup group that takes walks every week so I might start doing that. :)

15 lbs over here, too, which is a bit depressing because i'm typically back in my prepreg clothes by this point. (9 weeks) still trying to keep perspective and remain patient--reminding myself that I JUST HAD A BABY. but not having clothes that fit makes me hermit-like, and that's not good. and i know it'll come off eventually w/o trying, i just want it off now. :)

Five weeks postpartum today. No idea what my weight is; am definitely not back into my pre-pregnancy clothes but I was a bit underweight when I got pregnant so that's okay. I can wear normal jeans and pants but my waist is an inch or two bigger than I'd like. And the skin on my belly is all wrinkly and stretched out and weird and I feel like I have a loose floppy "spare tire" of empty belly hanging there. I'm hoping that will go away eventually...

Mostly I just feel very flabby and out of shape and I want to do something about it but have no idea what. Exercise DVDs, maybe? With a newborn and a toddler I don't see myself having time to go to the gym regularly any time soon. greensad.gif

I'm 4 weeks pp tomorrow and 3 pounds over my pre-pregnancy weight. At two weeks I was only 5 pounds over. But I only gained 22 pounds anyway. I wish my belly was what it was before, though. lol.gif

I had my postpartum appointment yesterday and I am about 7-8 lbs over my prepregnancy weight, which I am happy with. I haven't particularly watched my eating and pretty soon there will be snow on the ground here (there's already a little) and I won't be able to start running till its gone. I know I will be rocking the flabby muffin top for a while yet. ;-)  I got the go-ahead to start exercising, so I plan to start gradually introducing some ab exercises and by January, try to start doing a simple workout a few days a week. I will walk to and from the kid's school on days with no precipitation, and then start running again in the spring (when Sam can go in the jogger, conveniently!).

I'm still 20 pounds over my pp weight (and about 40 over where I'd like to be). I have been losing a pound a week though without watching my calories. I'm tandem nursing and my appetite is out of control. The only "diet" I've been engaged in is limiting myself to one dessert per day (ha!). I read in another DDC (September maybe?) that increasing water intake helps with weight loss while bf-ing. I've managed to do my Tae Bo post natal workout dvd once since DD2 was born... I really, really need to up my activity level.

I was at my pp weight by 6 months with DD1 without diet or exercise (unless you count walking).

Have you ever done the South Beach diet? I tried it in college when my husband was doing it and phase 1 is really restrictive. If you can manage it while bf-ing you have way more willpower than I do :)  South Beach is a good idea though... maybe I'll try starting with phase 2. Or maybe I'll just follow the rule of eating 4 cups of veggies a day... that alone would contribute to weight loss.

I am 35lbs over my pre weight, ugh.

Next week I am staring a modified phase 1 of SB. All phase one foods with one fruit and one grain per day.  Heres to hoping I drop 5-10 in the next few weeks.

I've got another 15 pounds of baby weight to lose, I'm kind of stuck but I'm not trying very hard, so what can I expect?  I bought Eat Fat, Lose Fat which is basically a traditional foods diet for weight loss, so once that arrives I'll try implement it, and hopefully it will help.  I really need to exercise, but it's hard to find the time.  I've got lots to lose, I never lost it all from dd3 and then I've got the weight from two pregnancies/miscarriages before Finn, too.

Just a word of caution---I am a TF'er and totally agree with EFLF, but it doesn't work unless you cut out junk (especially junky fats). I have a friend who is using that method to lose weight, but she basically just eats all the good fats and TF stuff in addition to her bad diet. Like, she makes brownies out of a crappy brownie mix, but she says "oh it's good for me because I used coconut oil instead of vegetable oil." She's gaining weight instead of losing, for obvious reasons. I'm sure you're not like that, I just wanted to chime in about it! Because it is such a high-fat diet, you have to stick strictly to the healthy stuff :)

Oh yes, I figured as much :)  I've been working on phasing stuff out, so I can get prepared!  I'm still having trouble with a few things (coffee and sprite, mostly) but I won't start until I can cut all the junk out, because I know if I don't it won't work!

I finally caved and let dh buy a Wii for this Christmas, just so I can do something active indoors with the kids around and hopefully get some exercise. We'll see if it works.

I've never had trouble losing baby weight before (having food-sensitive kids really keeps me in line with what I eat). But right now I've hit a plateau, and it seems like I should be losing more, since I am hungry constantly and am not eating any sweeteners or bread (because of trying to get rid of thrush). I don't feel like I'm eating enough at all, so the weight should be dropping off, and it doesn't seem to be. Ugh. My mother warned me about how the meatbolism slows down as you get older, but this is ridiculous.

I rejoined weight watchers about a week and a half ago and I've got DH on board to watch the boys on Sat so I can go to yoga.  I'm about 20 lbs over me pre-preg weight so about 5 lbs under my pre-preg weight with DS1.  I just started wearing some of my bigger pre-preg clothes but that's only because they were really loose on me before.  I'm really enjoying having my body back for me again though not looking forward to the long process of getting back to where I was.

I weighed myself today and have 4lbs to my pre-preg weight. I can't believe it because I gained 40lbs and feel like I'm eating non-stop! I have to admit that my pre-preg weight was 10lbs over my wedding day weight which was only 4months before we concieved(but after the holidays which I fully indulged in knowing we were tcc after nye!) My wedding day weight is also 10lbs over my goal weight so I really have another 25lbs to go. But at this rate I'll be there sooner rather than later, I started do mom and baby yoga and using Clover as a weight! Just wearing her in the Moby and walking around and up and down stairs is quite the work out!

I thought it would take me much longer as it generally has in the past and my sister is still working on losing her baby weight 2 years after her DD was born.

Eight weeks post-partum today and I can wear most of my normal pre-pregnancy "fat clothes", but I'm definitely not back to my pre-pregnancy size yet. I don't really care about that, but the loose, saggy skin on my belly is hideous! I really really really hope that tightens up at least a little bit within the next few months, because yikes.

Other than that I think I look pretty good. My skin has cleared up (I had pregnancy acne) and my hair is still thick and shiny. Now if I could only get the muscle tone back...

I actually reached my pre-preg weight at about 4 weeks post-partum, and am now a few lbs UNDER what I weighed before I got pregnant. Sounds great, right?! But actually, it's got very little to do with diet and exercise and much more to do with stress!! I tend to lose my appetite when I'm anxious, and those first couple of months post-partum were very challenging for me. That, plus breastfeeding voraciously hungry baby = skinny mama! I do actually wish I hadn't dropped the weight so quick, as I don't think it was particularly healthy. But it's plateaued now, and my appetite is back, so I don't think I'll be losing any more. Looking forward to getting back into an exercise routine in the New Year - I've missed my Ashtanga yoga class SO much this last few months, even though I know it's going to absolutely destroy me for those first few weeks!!

is that where the muscle down the middle of the abdomen has a gap? i think i have that, and had it after DS too, can get two or three fingers in it haha. still after having DS i managed to get a six pack (a girly slight one) and it never really bothered me that i had a gap, i think i always will, cuz man oh man did i work out a lot and the gap was still there.... though if anyone knows any post-section-gap-eliminating-wonder exercise then pleeeease share, i'd love to try it out!

I've plateaued, too.  Lost 29 of 42 pounds quickly with no effort, but now I'm stuck!  Though consider I usually GAIN 5-10 pounds at the holidays, I'm happy with just maintaining.  After the holidays I plan on following the Eat Fat, Lose Fat diet, and I need to start my gym membership back up in February, probably.  I have a really hard time losing weight without regular exercise.

I'm like miso and lost all the weight within 2 weeks (tho I hadn't gained much to start with, which was a source of angst all of its own), but my body is so DIFFERENT now.  My stomach is all stretch marked and is a completely different shape...flat where it used to be round, weirdly.  And my belly button is stretched out and keeps getting very dry skin.  My nether bits are completely rearranged as well, which is taking some getting used to.  And the "most random pp body thing" award for me goes to my armpits, which have stopped growing hair.  WTH?  Also the hair on my head changed color from dark blonde to brown.  And of course the nursing boobs, which first just got much bigger than they've ever been and then started deflating.  I feel like I don't know my own body anymore - just about everything is different except maybe my face.  If all I had was a few pounds to lose instead of all this other weirdness I'd be much happier, I think!

Me love.gif, DH guitar.gif, and DD baby.gif9/27/10!
