Hi again!

I am currently a SAHM (and have been for 3 years), but since I am separating from my husband, I need to find employment again.

I have applied for jobs in my previous career field, but am really not excited about this option. It would be such a jump (for both my son and I) for me to go back to work full time, with a long commute, and a stressful job. And I don't resonate with this career. I also haven't come across any part-time positions, or ones with truly flexible hours. The only plus is the financial stability it brings.

I am on the path to a new career, truer to my heart. But I won't be 'qualified' for another 3-5 years. And even then, it will likely be a slow road to gather clients and gain stability.

My dream would be to find a well paying part-time job, close to home, with flexible hours. One that is 'honest', and stimulating, and in which I can use my talents. I could then ease both of us into our 'new' lives, and have time to do my studies as well. I don't know where to find such a job, and I don't know if it's too 'risky' (finances, stability).

My question for you is, where am I meant to be focusing my job search (to ensure that the results are in the best interest of both my son and I)?
Old career? Different career? Full-time? Part-time? Through job ads? Networking?

Thanks so much.

I suggest that you ask around friends. They have the answer for you. And there are several avenues I'm seeing to help you while in school for your passion and with transitioning. One is housecleaning, or maybe office cleaning. That is mostly done in the evening. It's good, honest work that pays well that you are likely to find a schedule you can deal with. I'm also seeing you doing side childcare. Like after school care, summer care etc. This is also not full time. Again, I feel like friends have the answer for you so start asking around who needs help with what.

One last thing, I am hearing nursing really loudly. And I feel that this would be a really great job for you. Or something in the healing/helping field. So if that's what you are wanting to go to school for I give it two thumbs up. FYI.
