I'm not going to take it, but I am curious about something. Is it the effect that it gives you (the diarrhea) or actually something in that product itself that gets labor going (if it even does)?

I have a crazy sensitive gi system (which is joked about in my house since dh is the one with Crohn's) so I'd frankly be terrified to even try a little. However, I'm pretty sure that I know of a couple things that would accomplish the same thing. I'm not going to try yet - only if things start to get really delayed.

Dh is open to just about any suggestion to getting this baby moving.

Because it stimulates the bowel, it is thought to stimulate the uterus in a similar manner. Also the cleaning out aspect but if you aren't ready and baby isn't ready it's not going to work, you know? You'll just be one miserable, uncomfortable pregnant mama.

Nic, loving mama to 5 with a SURPRISE 6th on the way.

my understanding is that it doesn't actually do anything to the uterus, but it stimulates the bowels which in turn stimulate the uterus.. I have taken it twice. the first time I took it i didn't get a single contraction i did feeel very cleaned out after however, but all in all it wasn't very bad at all.... and the next time, a few days later at 42+1 weeks, i went into labour in (i think) about 6 hours of taking it. i dont recall spending much time on the toilet that time either.. she was born 4 hours after my first contraction!

Yep, this is exactly why I wouldn't really do it. I'm miserable and uncomfortable enough already.
