DD is 3.5 and is SO excited for her sister to be born. I'm 38.5 weeks and DH and I have just been getting everything ready for baby in the last few days because he's been traveling and I've been sick. Ugh. But now we've finally been able to do all those last-minute things and DD knows that baby time is really soon. She's been mopey and sad lately and when I ask her why she says it's because she wants her baby to be born today. She wants to know when exactly it'll happen. Any ideas of how to help her deal with the "soon, but I don't know exactly when" answer? I'm glad she's so excited to be a sister but this is getting ridiculous.

I wish I knew! I feel like we've been telling DS3 (now 3yo) for so long that baby would be coming that it's hard to realize it's ALMOST time. He was throwing a fit the other day and in the midst of it demanded that I push the baby out RIGHT NOW. We know it will be soon (we share an EDD!), but a 3yo's sense of timing combined with having no idea when it will *really* happen makes it double difficult.

I hear you on this one.  DS is 3 yrs as well, and is getting so excited for his sister to arrive.  It is absolutely adorable.  Most mornings he asks me if his sister is coming today.  When he asks, I just tell him she hasn't told me yet if or when she's coming, that she decides on the timing.  So far it's worked, I'm 39 weeks today.  I know it won't last for much longer though!

My DS is also three. He must think I'll be pregnant forever at this point! He told the midwife on Monday "we thought the baby would come in November, but it didn't" and we tried to explain that it's still November, but that's a tough concept.... All I can think of to help him is just keep his routine as consistent and normal as possible. That's probably good for me, too.
