Sorry this is a little TMI ladies, but I wanted to see what you gals thought.  So last night, right after my husband and I had a little sexy time, I started leaking a little fluid.  At first I just thought it was semen, but I changed panties twice, and then realized it was clear and very liquid.  It didn't have a smell, and more leaked when I would stand up from laying down.  So I'm pretty sure it was amniotic fluid.  I don't think I leaked more than a tablespoon or so, and I had no cramps or contractions, so I just went to sleep.  This morning I'm not leaking at all.

I have a midwife appointment this afternoon, so I'll talk to her then, but I wanted to post and see if there was any thoughts.  Does this mean my water broke or was there just a tear or something that could heal?  Could it have been from DTD?  I'm sure it was something more than just discharge/semen, and the way it leaked really made me think it was amniotic fluid, but could it have been something else?  Tell me labor is eminent and my baby will be here soon!  I'm 38w4d, so it's possible, but I figured I'd be waiting another few days/weeks to meet her!  I'd be psyched to meet her now though!

That's how mine broke. At first, I was just dribbling a tiny bit, such a small amount that I wasn't sure my water had broken so I went back to bed. The leaking stopped by the time I woke up. After we went for a long walk, though, I started having gushes that were *definitely* amniotic fluid and the contractions picked up bigtime. My daughter was born 6 hours after we started our walk.

Hope this is it for you. smile.gif

I had that happen with DS2.  My water leaked for about 6 hours, then it stopped.  Your amniotic sac is actually two layers, so a tiny tear can happen, and then the layers can move and essentially reseal.  My MW was unconcerned and said to carry on as usual.  Our son came about a week later.

Ahh!  I was afraid of this...that it means nothing!  I wanted everyone to be "oh yeah, baby is coming!"  LOL  But I knew the sac could reseal.  Just wishful thinking.  I have a midwife appointment at 5pm and I think I'll have her check me.  I'm definitely anxious to meet this baby now!

Don't be so sure! I had little gushes a couple of times during the night, then nothing during the day. Then at 4pm the floodgates opened and I was in labor within a couple hours. I totally didn't think anything of the little gushes -- thought it might be urine, more watery mucous, etc. I did feel 'off' all day, though... nothing I could put my finger on, but just not nesty - body wanted to rest.

Good luck!

Well, this happened to me like 2 weeks ago?  It wasn't my water, though, she was born in the caul.  You can use a microscope to check for ferning.  Or see what the mw says.  I've noticed things get...juicy dtd during pregnancy and apparently this was one of those times for me.  lol.gif
