Hi mamas, Google is no help on this question, so I thought to ask all of you. My blood pressure spiked into the at risk range at my 37w appt, yesterday. Lab results show that it in not preeclampsia. I am swelling, having lose stools for a week, and lost my plug three weeks ago. My Problem: the doctor wants to induce if my blood pressure remains high. I have had two manageable labors and drug free deliveries and would prefer to not induce.

Anyone else have experience with these symptoms and gone into labor shortly after OR tell me good things about induction. I know a lot of horror stories.

Tired of being pregnant and now scared,

Renee

I just posted about this in the chat thread. We are in the same boat, mama. I am at 39 weeks and they are talking about inducing me next Wednesday - my due date! TOO EARLY!

My decision was to have my dr strip my membranes to hopefully get something started. hug.gif I really hope that we can both avoid being induced - it definitely doesn't sound ideal!!

If it's not preeclampsia, don't induce!  There are other things you can do, like soaking up to your chest in water for 20 minutes a day, taking cal/mag supplements, taking passionflower tincture (my midwife's preferred method), walking, etc., to try to help your BP.  If neither you nor baby are at risk right now, then you have time to wait and see if labor starts on its own.

Even with mamas who DO develop pre-e, they (doctors) will wait a good long while if necessary (i.e., preterm) before they induce.  That's with sky-high BP and rising protein levels.  While you may be "term" at this point, if you're not in labor, baby's clearly not ready - so I would delay any inductions as long as possible to give baby every chance to develop well before birth.

That's how it was for me with my second - My BP went up into the worrisome range a few days before labor started (naturally, not induced). I had no other signs of pre-e during that pregnancy, just the blood pressure spike at the end.

Oh, I've heard of lemon juice and cream of tartar bringing BP way down, too.

I've also heard of BP simply going up at the end - perhaps even a sign that your time is near.  I'm not entirely sure how common or accurate that is, but it's a possibility, eh?

I am curious what was your bp?  Mine spiked to 160/85 Monday the docs didn't seem to really care because after I laid down for 20 mins it went back down to 126/80.

I checked yesterday at the grocery store, and it was spiked up again, then after I sat for 10 mins it went back down.

It makes me a little nervous, but I guess if the docs don't think it is an issue then it isn't.

I hope this is true for me! I would love to have this baby soon and begin naturally.

BP was 140/93, checked twice with out resting. I return tomorrow for a check. Hopefully it will be back to normal. Thanks
