One week closer to the end of the first trimester. We get to see our midwife on Friday for the last time before we move and hopefully she has found someone good in NC for us. We are so excited to move since things here are not so good. Keeping me away from my DS is not cool. Grandpa crossed a line and won't see my DS again until right before we leave. Don't ever cross a pregnant lady like that. I think things will only get worse before we leave. I'm taking DS with us for the first 6 weeks.

I took my last antibiotic this morning and I'm hoping tomorrow my intestines will go back to somewhat normalcy. I was so dehydrated last week I'm feeling better today and hope I can work the whole 4 hours.

I have my homebirth risk assessment tomorrow. I will be getting a a full blood panel drawn, vagina culture, and pelvic exam. I hopefully get to hear the heart beat again although I did break down and rent a dopplar which should be here next week

I have been getting out of breath A LOT lately and it kind of worries me that I am already so winded at 11 weeks. I am pretty thin and in good shape so I dunno whats up with it. Has anybody else been getting winded quite easily?

Oh, one more complaint and then I am done My sinus cavities have been soooo swollen and inflamed since becoming pregnant. Like, I can't breathe at all when I lay down. I do the neti pot 2x a day but no relief. Anyways, thanks for letting me vent.

Is everyone having a good weekend?

Hi Everyone
I have my first midwife appointment on Tuesday and hope to hear a heart beat!!
We are busy getting ready to pour our foundation for our cob home. Hopefully it will be poured late this week. Then cob can begin a few weeks after! Hope by then some of my energy will have returned, I still feel fairly low energy at times! We had company this weekend who camped in our 5th wheel instead of their tent, ha that was busy! But they are gone and its now a quiet rest day, think we are going to play spa next
Have a great weekend everyone

Mama to SDD (12), DD (8), DD (6), DD, (4), DS (3) and new little babe arriving Dec. We are in the process of building our cob home and homestead

That is so great! I'm so excited your cob home is underway. I would love to do that someday. Have fun playing spa. I'll send some energy vibes your way.

I was not as involved with my last one because I was a new mod and it felt kind of weird. I am past that.

And OMGosh, I am sooooo sick and tired today. It's making me really crabby.

Hey all! Today is DS's 2nd birthday. We kept it pretty low key since a lot of his baby friends have moved away in the last year. But his bff (about 6 weeks younger) came up and we went to Chuck E Cheese. I am currently disgusted with myself. I went nuts on the pizza. Seriously. My appetite is out. Of. Control. We won't even talk about the cake. Seriously. Ugh. My stomach has been aching since we left. Boo!

Our first appt with my MW is Thursday. One day shy of 11 weeks, so hoping to hear the hb! Also, tomorrow, my PP doula from DS's birth (who is now studying to be a MW and plans to attend my birth and catch the baby if possible for her required catches) is taking me grocery shopping and giving me a cooking lesson since I'm not the best at cooking and/or choosing the right foods at the store. So I've got a pretty good week coming up. I'm pretty excited!

Good luck with the 1st appt. My MW picked up the HB at 10 weeks so I hope you can hear your little bean. Your doula sounds awesome!

Thanks Jaime! I wanted to ask you...how does the HB risk assessment work? I'm curious b/c I risked out of a birth center birth with DS b/c of BP issues, but I've lost a lot of weight and am currently off BP meds. I don't have a risk assessment with my MW...if I risk out at a later date, we just deal with it then so I'm curious how the assessment works? It was so devastating to risk out (at around 19 weeks) and I'm really, really hoping it doesn't happen again.

11.5 weeks today and i'm slowly starting to feel better, at least in terms of nausea. still feel ill at times, but less and less. have a bit more energy too, most days. so, i think i'm seeing the light into the 2nd trimester. woo hoo! i still have a lot of bloating though, and if i eat more than just a little bit, MAN! feels like thanksgiving dinner churning around in there. but at the same time, i'm hungry for more than a little bit. so that's hard, to use my head instead of my stomach as a gauge.

heard baby's heartbeat at 10 week appointment with midwife. very reassuring.

hoping everyone else is also starting to feel a bit better-hang in there!!

I'm going to a little "meet the midwife" thing at my midwife's office tomorrow night. She's just going to talk about homebirth and what to expect, etc...stuff I know but I'm hoping to connect with some local like-minded mommas. I'm 9 weeks today! I'm done with my 7 days in a row, which is LOVELY. I'm just tired. And my back aches. And my boobs hurt. And I'm nauseated. *sigh* I hope I don't risk out...I don't know what this midwife's criteria are. I'm slightly over 200 lb, and I hope that my weight doesn't risk me out. I started my last pregnancy just a bit lighter than this one, and my midwife just made sure that I had healthy weight gain and nothing excessive, and all was fine. I guess we'll see.

Phew. The baby is growing where it should be, there is only one, my cervix is not about to fall out and I really really like my doctor

She did find a cyst on my left breast that I am going to have to check out, but it is such a relief to know that the baby is where it should be and my cervix is just fine.

For the first time I felt like I could be happy about being pregnant and I also felt like "I can do this", I can have two children, I will find a way to do this..... that is SUCH a load off my chest.

And she is not pressurisng me do do all the recommended tests. She gave me her reasoning, and was very clear that it is my choice and she will accept my choice.

Also good news is that the placenta is posterior and my previous one was anterior. I had to transfer for adhered placenta after my previous birth... so it's good that it is not in the same place.

And yes, this is a great group. I hope to be more around now as I start to accept that I am pregnant and, gasp, actually get excited about it.

I am corrupting the DDC. This is my most suggestable pregnancy EVER. I saw them making tamales on Food Network and now it's all I can think of. I sent DH last night and they were closed. But today shall be my tamale day!

Not a tamale fan... though a Jamaican beef or chicken patty with a side of plantains would be awesome.

Had a quickie check-up on Friday b/c my symptoms disappeared. I think my MW thinks I'm a hypochondriac. Oh well. But the baby's growing, and has a strong heartbeat. I got to hear it!

So how was everyone's weekend?

I was at a friend's bachelorette party on Saturday night. It was fun, but kind of strange. Probably the last time I'm going to be out with my friends in a dance club for a long time. It's ok though; I realized that I'm way past that point in my life. And NOT being hungover all day Sunday, like the rest of the girls at the party, was terrific.

Do not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage against the dying of the light. ~Dylan Thomas

hi everyone!
I haven't had a tomale in years, yumm

I too am eating like crazy, at first I said to myself, oh it's just because I need to eat every 2 hours to keep the morning sickness at bay. yeah right! I love foood and thats that

my house is still a mess, but I do get bouts of energy now and then and I try to clean as much as I can. I did the dishes on sat, that was quite a feat. it took an hour........

i think i feel the baby moving? I am 12 and a half weeks. so I am pretty sure thats what it is.

I went swiming with ds 6, on saturday, and boy was I in a rotton mood. I don't know if i was hungry or haveing an axiety attack?? but everything bugged me. everything. I had to TRY to smile. I wanted ds to have a good time.. I prayed alot in that pool. then it was time to go, and in the change room I had to ask ds to not talk, the noise hadme so wound up, I just wanted to scream, I was really losing it we ate and I felt better. we came home and had a nap.
I feel really bad about being so grumpy. it could be because I haven't seen dp for a couple days and I really wished he could have come swimmming with us. we used to swim all most everyday, maybe I was just missen him?

today I am going to go to the store and get some more food. i have been putting it off for days, and we really are out of everything.

the morning sickness is getting better, usally it hits hard at night, but I just go to bed and sleep and it gone in the am.

have a wonderful day!!!

yes mrsm, I too have had these feeling about not being hung over with the rest of them.

I went to a treatment center, and had to get help for my problem. so needless to say I don't drink anymore and its not just because I am pg. dp has stopped too we are both recovering. its been about 6 months for me and 5 for dp. we are so happy with our new life. and with the new life we planned and will bring up in a alcohol free home. life is a journey and I so glad to be on this one, with my dp he is the best

The risk assessment is really no big deal. I had to have blood drawn, vagina swab for STDS, pap smear (which I did not get and will do so at 36 week risk assessment instead), pelvic exam, breast exam, weight and urine check and answering a ton of queations about previous pregnancies, health problems, etc.

Ok, so listen to my HORRIBLE day.....
DH and I did not get much sleep and were bickering all morning. I check my e-mails and I have been hacked and sending out penis enlargement ads to everyone in my address book. Then, I leave the house to drive to my risk assessment and I am like 3 minutes away when I have to stop in the road for a frontloader who is stopped. He looks right at me so I think he is going to let me pass.....but no, he starts to back up, fast. I throw the car in to reverse and honk but it is too late he smashes the front of my car and windshield! I was so happy that DD was not in the car with me and that there was really no impact6 and I am fine but what a mess . I will be without a car for a couple of weeks now and have to wait for all of the insurance crap to go through. I then had to go right to my appointment and get all of my risk assessment stuff done while I was shaking and crying. My nurse waited until the end of the appt to take my blood pressure

Wildecat ~ Glad you're OK! I wish people would pay more attention...

I got up at 7 to go have my TB test checked at work, got coffee and donuts and went back home. Everyone was still asleep, so I got back in bed...and slept until 1pm!! I NEEDED that, and I so thankful for my husband understanding that! Tomorrow is my appointment with the dermatologist. I shouldn't be worried, but I am. I'm sure I'll feel so much better afterward so I can stop worrying. The thing that I have isn't even a mole, but I'm scared to death that it's going to melanoma or something...just the hypochondriac nurse in me, I guess.

Megan- I'm so glad your appt went well and you are starting to connect with this pregnancy.

Starshine- weight and midwives are very individual things. I risked out of my first midwife because she didn't like how much weight I gained. It was not a good situation, she stressed me out so badly and made me feel so bad about gaining weight. It's all we *ever* talked about. She risked me at 35 weeks when I gained 40lbs. I started my second pregnancy 30 pounds heavier than my first (I was over 200 too) and it was never an issue with that MW. She just wanted me to eat healthy food and move my body and there was no stress or pressure. I lost 10lbs and then gained 30, for a total gain of 20lbs that pregnancy. This pregnancy I am using a different mw again and it is again not an issue and I am over 200lbs. She again said, eat healthy food and move your body and you'll be good. She's not even making my weigh in, I'll just keep an eye on it at home and check in with her, no pressure. So basically, if it's an issue, look for another provider. Good luck! And, awesome on the sleeping!! That would be so great!

Corysmilk- that sounds rough! i definitely feel my blood sugar do wacky things when I need to eat and I get very short tempered. Try keeping a little snack with you to give you a boost if it happens again. It's been happening to me a lot this time. Congrats on your sobriety!!!

Wildecat- how scary!! I'm glad you were okay and your dd wasn't with you!

I am feeling much, much better than I was a week ago, but I'm still having a rough time. At least the nausea is more hit and miss rather than all the time though. I am still really tired, no energy and no motivation. My husband did all the laundry and all the dishes yesterday. I was so thankful and felt so guilty! He works 70 hours a week right now and he is having to take care of everything else too. I can't wait to feel better! I have an appt in 2ish week, but I may pop in sooner to get to hear the heartbeat, I love that everyone is hearing it! I'm 10 weeks today so I'm hoping to feel like a new woman in the next week or 2!
