So, I have my very first appointment scheduled for July 5th at 1pm with my midwife. I'll be just over 15 weeks. And I'm assuming that we'll get my 20 week ultrasound scheduled right around then. I can't believe I'm almost in the second trimester!! Tomorrow is the day...I'll be 14 weeks.

I have my second appointment Wednesday. I'll be 15 weeks. I'm pretty nervous about it because I just haven't felt pregnant enough this whole time (didn't even know until a routine annual exam at 11 weeks). I'm worried something happened to the baby and I don't know it. Wish me luck. If it goes well, I'll finally tell people beyond immediate family.

mckittre, I found out at 11DPO and I still didn't really feel pregnant til the past week when I started feeling the baby move.

I have my anatomy scan appointment on Wednesday. I'm a little nervous, but trying to stay positive since I don't have any reason to think anything is wrong.

I am also hoping to have a discussion about the birth with my doc. He assured me at my first appointment that I could have a natural birth. However, after reading the "hospital policies" I am really concerned about a whole lot more than just the during-the-birth interventions. Apparantly it's hospital policy to separate mom and baby for up to FOUR HOURS after the birth for the baby to have a bath, get checked by the ped, and be warmed. There is no way in H*ll I'm going to be okay with that and I need to find out now if I'm going to have to change my birth plans.

So not cool... I refuse to give birth at my 'local' hospital for these reasons (going to another one my doc has privileges at). Its especially stupid to assume that baby needs a special bed to be 'warmed'. If they hadn't taken him/her away from you he/she wouldn't have gotten cold!!

Delaying the first bath for a day or so also helps the baby learn to breastfeed since the smell of you will still be on his/her hands.

The first (and most emotional reason) I don't want my baby separated from me is because my husband and a few other babies got really sick as newborns in the nursery because someone didn't wash their hands well enough. He's now dyslexic and has had to have eye surgery to try to correct what it did to his vision (he still has very little peripheral vision on the right).
Sure its been 25 years since then but hospital acquired infections have only gotten more severe and more resistant to antibiotics.

This Mommy and Military Daddy are loving their son.

We have a local hospital that has that policy, but if you have a doctor's order, you can go against the policy. Maybe that would be a possibility?

I have my third appointment tomorrow, Monday. I am nervous, I haven't been since we got the news I wasn't having a missed miscarriage, but I can't shake the feeling something is wrong. My blood pressure has also been higher in the last few days, so I'm worried about what we're looking at with that. I'm having a hard feeling settled into this pregnancy.

That's craziness, and almost warrants an Alabama joke!

As crazy as some "hospital policies" can be, most have been making a move toward eliminating well-baby nurseries and don't have staffing for that "service". For my past 3 births (in 2 different hospitals over an 8 year period), my pediatricians checked my babies out in my room, dh and I bathed them ourselves, and they didn't get cold b/c they were being cuddled and nursed.

-- No one even mention my weight.
-- My blood pressure was great.
-- The babies' heart rates are at 146 and 152, and that means girls, right? LOL!
-- Not only did no one notice I accidentally on purpose skipped the GD test I was supposed to take at 16 weeks, no one mentioned having to go this time around either.
-- I'm measuring 21 weeks at 17.
-- We talked about vaginal birth, and he said since I'm an "old pro" (with no emphasis on old, LOL!) as long as baby A is down and B is not significantly larger and would have room to turn once A is out of the way, he'd prefer a vaginal birth as well!
-- While my age risk for Downs is 1 in 89 (which is scary!), based on my First Screen it's 1 in 1400.

And I have the big anatomy ultrasound and another appointment in 3 weeks.

I had my midwife appointment today and was totally happy afterward

Baby's heartrate was 150. I had a lovely chat about stuff with her and I am feeling much better about things. We will get orders for the anatomy scan in 4 weeks (since I will be exactly 18 weeks at that point). I should go ahead and make the appointment anyway.

My blood pressure was low (80/58). She said she honestly has never had a client with that low of BP. Only concern would be blood loss during labor, but I am glad she is thinking ahead so she can be doubly prepared....

Just had a great appointment this morning (not quite 16 weeks). Heartbeat was good, baby was moving around, and I'm measuring right on. Now I finally feel comfortable telling the world.

Only thing I have to work on is trying to gain more weight!

Had an appt this morning at 18 weeks, including the BIG ultrasound. Everything looks good! I had a discussion with my doc about the hospital policies about the after birth stuff and he basically told me I'd have to discuss with the hospital. So

the L&D unit at the hospital who transferred me to the LC on duty. We had a good talk and she definitely "gets" me. She said I need to make my prefs known as soon as I arrive for the birth and also recommended that I have a doula. She said doulas are usually well received at the hospital. That's good news cause I'd been kind of worried if I showed up with a doula the L&D staff would have a fit about it. She also said I'd be able to get a lot more info if I take the hospital's childbirth class which includes a tour. So I'm signing us up for that.

I also made an appointment with a midwive in a nearby town and sent an email to a doula that DH's coworker recommended. Overall, I'm glad the babe looks good and I'm still researching my local options for the birth.

I want to know how much you people are bribing to get your ultrasounds now and why I have to wait 3 more weeks to find out what we're having.

I have my 2nd appointment with the midwife this afternoon @ 4pm.

I'm kind of nervous because at our first appointment at 11 weeks we only heard the heartbeat for 2 seconds, and now at 16 weeks I just want to make sure it's nice and strong and healthy! I'm freaked out that for some reason we won't hear it!

I got my initial bloodwork done during the 1st appointment, so we'll hear everything about that today. Other than that, and the heartbeat, I'll probably just ask a bunch of questions!

I had my 16 week appoinment on tuesday the 29th of june and everything went good. I saw one of the other doctors in the practice instead of my regular ob just to see what he had to say about my choice to try VBAC and he agreed that i should try but that it would be a hit and miss kinda thing until i have my 36 week u/s. The baby's heart rate is 135 bpm now and he said it sounds very strong. I also set up my u/s for our 20 week appointment for July 27th and that day we will find out what we will be having. I just can't go the whole 9 months without knowing...it's killing me!!! I hope everyone else is doing well in their pregnancies!

Had my first appointment today and it went very well! We didn't schedule an ultrasound yet, but I guess I'll email her and ask her when this will be done. At my next appointment I'll be 19 weeks, so I don't figure it should be much further past that. I'm measuring appropriately and baby's heartbeat was strong and FAST. And what a wiggle worm! None of my kids have ever liked the doppler and always swim away from it. I'm just totally stoked that I'm pregnant. And that I'm STILL pregnant!

I just got the results of my quad screen back, which are normal enough, I guess. The risk for Down Syndrome came back at 1/350 ish and trisomy 18 at 1/450 ish which are very small risks by any sensible way of counting it, but still significantly higher than the risk for my age (which would be 1/650 or so for Downs). The trained scientist in me points out that that means there is a 99.7 percent chance baby is normal - certainly not enough risk to warrant invasive testing. I can't help feeling a little bit worried that the risk went up rather than down, though - like it means that something must be wrong. I skipped that screen with my son. Kind of wish I'd skipped it this time too.

my next appointment is next wed. I will either drag dh and all the kidlets with me, or go alone (woot!). I feel huge but I'm glad to see that I think I look about like everyone else that has been posting pics. My u/s is in about 3 weeks and for some reason I am a little afraid that this little bub has some terrible genetic defect. But I'm glad I'm getting the scan done and will have some real answers (and probably relief). I guess I just feel like we have gotten so lucky 3 times, surely we can't get so lucky again? Silly, I know. But I am having it done by a good fetal specialist so if there is anything, they will definately be the one's to catch it. I can't wait to see how I am measuring because I swear this baby is almost up in my liver already! And I am feeling tons of movement! Yay!

I have appointment #2 in a few hours. I'm not quite 15 weeks, so I don't know if I'll schedule the 20-week ultrasound this time or next time.

Thing is, I've been having diarrhea since Saturday afternoon. I really should have called my midwife Monday night when it got worse, but I kept telling myself "I'll see her Wednesday, there's no reason to bother her, and there's probably nothing to be done"... I've just tried to keep hydrated, and I'll bring it up today. Hopefully she's not too upset at me for waiting the extra day & a half!

We had an anatomy scan today at 15w6d. Everything looked great. Babe was already 4 ounces. We think we saw a penis but not totally sure which is disappointing. I have to get an echocardiogram and have a heart monitor put on Friday because of all the heart palps I've been having. Good news is my BP and blood sugar has come way down and looks great now.

... and the midwife said "everything looks perfect"! She seems to be of the opinion the anatomy scan shouldn't happen until after 20 weeks, and between 22-24 preferably. Seems so long to wait! I'll schedule it next time I'm in, I suppose.

I am 17 weeks today and had my third midwife appointment. Blood tests were good, urine had no abnormal glocuse or protein, iron was a little low. The highlight was when we got to hear the heartbeat (again) and our little monkey swam away from the doppler! As soon as the MW found the HB, it was gone and she found it again on the other side of my abdomen! So cute and cheeky! Just like his/her sister!

We have our anatomy scan tomorrow at 18 weeks. I am so excited to see our little bean and I really hope we can find out if they are a boy or girl but most of all I just want to know they are perfectly healthy in there

It is strange how MW and Drs have a different opinion on the best time for an anatomy scan but MW thinks 18 weeks is perfect. I will update tmw!

Had to change mine with the hb midwife for Sat. to probably next week--by then I should have the car thing figured out. (see post on this week's chat) Don't know if hubby will be at work with the one remaining insured, running vehicle, so figured I'd be nice and let somebody else have it if needed.

Ultrasound TUESDAY.........my kids would love some happy girl vibes sent our way. (along with of course more importantly HEALTHY BABY vibes)

Ugh! I had some serious vaginal itching and suspected that my antibiotics course triggered it. It turns out it was yeast and the rx was just an OTC cream that insurance wouldn't cover. So there went $12. I can't wait until the discomfort is over! I told DH that we can't DTD for 10 days, I only have to do the cream for 7 nights but want to cushion myself. I will be consuming at least 1.5 cups of yogurt per day now to keep my ph balance down below.

While I was there I get the 2nd trimester screen done where they draw blood to rule out the birth defects. It's now more accurate than with one draw as they did two years ago.

I also go to listen to the HB and the gyno said all was well.

Now we're less than a week away from my midwife appt which is on Tuesday. The anatomy u/s is on Wednesday morning!

On Tuesday I have an appointment with the OB at the midwives office. I need to get a refill on my Thyroid meds. I'm hoping to schedule the anatomy scan. I'm anxious to find out what I'm cooking up in there.
