I was sooooo nervous about this appointment, because I had both my GTT and my hemoblobin tests. Numbers that are too far off with either of those, and you are "risked out" to a hospital (well, the hemoglobin they give you time to try to bring up). Also, my mom had GD when she was pregnant with me and diabetes in general runs rampant in my family, so I was just scared.

Anyway, my blood sugar was 90, yay!!!!

And my hemoglobin came back at 10.6, and they prefer 11. But since I do not eat meat, I was pretty stoked about that high of a number. Even though the midwife said I was anemic and was concerned, I'm not too worried. I'll keep taking my yellow dock root concotion that I made, and I might pick up some Floradix in a week or so.

Just wanted to share my good news. And now I start going every 2 weeks!

ETA I came home and celebrated with banana bread and part of a magic bar ! lol

Congratulations!! Your GTT numbers are great! I also don't eat meat and when I had my first blood draw back at the end of May, my hemoglobin was 13.6. My MW was shocked b/c she said that is better than most of her meat eaters! I have NO idea how I managed that number or I'd give you some tips! I just had another blood draw last Thursday, so I'm really hoping my numbers stay up. If not, I'll be trying some of your tips!

Congrats! You're doing great!

"And now I start going every 2 weeks." Whoa! Your EDD is 12/19 and mine is 12/15. How is this possible? My next appt is in 2 weeks, 10/6, I am holding out on the every 2 weeks schedule until the end of October.

I'm due 12/17 and I'm on a 2 week schedule now too. My last appt was Thursday and I will go back next week. My MW starts them at 28 weeks, and I was 27 last week so I guess she figures that's close enough

Wahoo! That's great :-)

I have low hemoglobin levels too (I tend to be on the anemic side, even when not preggo), and Floradix helps a lot.

This. I'm 27 weeks, so they figure it's close enough to 28. I don't mind going in; the office is only 1.3 miles from the house and we ride our bikes there. The biggest reason I want to go that often is that there are 2 midwives in the practice, and I just want to make sure that we get to know them both really well. And I LOVE hearing that little heartbeat
