...whatever holidays you are celebrating!

I am excited for a lot of reasons:

- my birthday's in December!
- I love Christmas lights and Christmas trees and Christmas carols (even though I wish they wouldn't start playing them so damn early, you're supposed to wait until after Thanksgiving, people!!)
- even though I kind of hate cold weather, everything feels so cozy and warm and happy
- I love holiday shopping, even when it is stressful
- I love picking out presents for people, and I LOVE wrapping them (last year I made all my own wrapping paper with brown paper bags and rubber stamps) even though I am totally behind this year

Also, we are closing on a house TOMORROW and I will be spending my first ever holiday season in my first ever OWN HOUSE. Holy crap! I feel way too young for that to be happening! (Um, also to be having a baby in said house...)

Also, also, perhaps most importantly (j/k) -- my seasonal favorites Peppermint Mocha CoffeeMate and Edy's Peppermint Ice Cream are in stores again!

I don't even drink coffee, usually, but this stuff is so tasty. And the Peppermint Ice Cream with little chewy bits of candy cane? Amazing!

Our local dairy here in town also makes a seasonal eggnog with their fresh delicious milk, and that's going to be on shelves shortly... And the local artisan ice cream shop just previewed one of many holidays flavors to come -- this one was Port Wine & Figs! Two of my favorite things, combined in ice cream, my third favorite thing!

What seasonal favorites are you looking forward to? Or enjoying already, like me

I can drink! Its so shallow... I was thinking of buying a 'Sparks' (alcoholic energy drink) but I'm not sure how both the caffeine and alcohol will affect him. Maybe I'll just have a wine cooler for New Years instead. (I only *rarely* drink more than one.) As long as he's not in a growth spurt. Now the question is whether to pump or 'time' the drink to his longest period of sleep!

now that i have kids, xmas is so much more fun! we have a 2.5 year old and i just love all the ritual and preparations for her sake.

i love putting out the presents after she has gone to bed and watching her come down and see/open them in the morning.
i love making the homemade cinnamon rolls the day before, and then baking them xmas morning and sitting at the table as a family and enjoying them as our special morning treat.
decorating the big, real tree is always fun, and our dd knows that soon after we get the tree baby sister will 'come out'.
i can't wait to hold a new baby again, too. it seems like just yesterday we had a tiny infant, and now she is a 'big girl'. i look forward to cherishing those baby moments again.

Mama to two girls, born 5/08 and 11/10.

I can't wait to NOT go to MIL's house for dinner. I love my MIL and my family but I enjoy small, intimate celebrations with my family, and I've sacrificed that every year since I've been married. I'm so excited that I finally get the chance to have MY kind of Christmas.

I know, me too! My EDD is 12/20 so more than like the little one will come right around Christmas -- and last year we were totally snowed in at my aunt's house (which is only a half hour away) for two days starting Christmas Eve! Last thing I want to do is think about driving in that! Makes me so glad to be having a , yay

I am SO looking forward to MY first family Christmas! My DH's bday is Christmas Day and I know how hard it was for him growing up (youngest of 4), so I always try to make it special but we end up going to somebody's house or other and it's just not what I want it to be. This year I hope to snuggle by our wood fire, in front of our tree, in our first house with our first LO. I am also looking forward to lots and lots of treats since I have been having to avoid any kind of sugar for weeks now because of a persistent YI. Looking forward to both sets of parents' faces at seeing their first grandchild!

~I love going with the family to pick out our Christmas tree. Then of course, decorating it.
~ I love to bake and the holidays give me a good excuse to do so.
~I love buying presents for people and seeing them open them up. I especially love watching the kids on Christmas Morning. They still enjoy the magic of the season so much.
~ It'll be my 13th wedding anniversary on 12/20 and we usually go out to eat with the kids at a Tepan restaurant. It's always a good time.
~Eggnog
~ Helping the kids decorate a gingerbread house on Christmas Eve
~Having a new baby around. The older 3 kids are really excited about a new brother.

They have a test kit for testing your milk for alcohol levels. I think I am going to get some since this baby is coming smack in the middle of the holidays.

I don't really trust those MilkScreen things. They test down to 0.02% alcohol... sensitive enough to pick up the alcoholic content of fresh orange juice (which has an alcohol content of 0.03%). As far as I know you can't even get buzzed on orange juice if it was the only thing you ever consumed.
