My water broke as we were cleaning up from dinner.  Perfectly clear, so that's good, and I immediately had a bout of diarrhea, but only have had super intermittent contractions the past 2 hours.

I've got about 8 hours to get into a steady contraction pattern, and it is really freaking me out!!!  PLEASE think contraction thoughts for me!  Totally never expected my water to break before active labor...

And my finger still hurts from the stitches I got today, and I've got a nasty yeast infection, and I swear, if one more medical thing happens to me, I'm going to lose it...

You're going to have a baby soon!! Yay!

I wish you an easy and beautiful labor.

You could try some nipple stimulation to get things going. Do you have a breast pump?

I'm sure labor will start on its own. Don't stress it too much.

I can't wait to hear all about it!

My waters broke with my first/previous birth. It took about 14 hours for my contractions to start and then I had a 10 hour labour and delivery. Well, there was an extra half hour in there somewhere as the doctor got all twitchy about me being over 24 hours since my waters broke and DS being at an increased risk for infection.... He was fine.

I did not get any sleep and was rushing around all atwitter between my water breaking and the contractions starting. If you can, get some sleep. nod.gif It doesn't feel like it now, but you will be very happy you did once you have given birth.

Labour vibes coming your way!!!

Good luck!  My water broke first with my first kid -  contractions started a couple hours later, and he was born 10 hrs after my water broke (and after 3.5 hours of pushing).  I think your body knows what to do, and it'll all work out fine!

Why are you on such a tight deadline? I've had two births where my water broke before labour started. With the first, it was 36 hours before I went into labour. Ds2 was born 4.5 hrs later. With the second, labour didn't start until 18 hrs after my water broke. DD was born also after a 4.5 hr labour.

Drink lots. Put nothing in your vagina and decline vaginal exams. The 24 hr rule is bs, IMNSHO, and exists for the convenience of HCPs and not at all for the actual safety of the mother or baby.
