So, I'm full of nervous engergy and can't sleep. Out of nowhere, ten minutes or so ago, I think to myself, "I would really like a nice, homemade bowl of matzo ball soup."

This is my first go-round with the whole pregnancy "thing," but I'm thinking this is the beginning of the much talked about phenomenon of "pregnancy cravings."

Ladies? Ready, set, and . . . go!

My first go-round, before I tested, I was also full of nervous energy, craving something, looking for something in the kitchen but nothing at all sounded good, til I saw a jar of smoked oysters, and COVETED it. I ate the whole thing right then and there, and nothing ever tasted so good.

This time (baby #3) I was again, days before testing, but pacing the kitchen, needing something, nothing sounding good. Then it hit me: the jar of sardines! There was a glass jar of filleted sardines! I piled sardines all over my salad, ate sardines plain with my fingers, etc.

Yesterday, I was hungry all day long. Really, actively feeling famished.
Not craving anything though. Been taking good supplements.
I expect the sickness will set in in about a week to 10 days, though, and then it will be hard, because if I haven't weaned my son by then, I will still be unable to eat any dairy, egg, soy, chocolate, tomato, blueberry, almond, or strawberries. Maybe he has outgrown some of them, but I have been too unwilling to find out the hard way.

It's tough to imagine going through pg not eating all that, because in the first tri, both times before, I got a total aversion to meat. Made me nauseous. Egg and dairy were my salvation.
I guess I could have spirulina this time, if I ended up still having to nurse, but I really am moving to wean, because I just can't handle the nipple pain and low supply and hormonal heebies I get in pregnancy. He's 2 1/2, and I think we will both survive. Not ideal, but perhaps necessary.

I went to the grocery store hungry today. I saw dried apricots and had to have them! I ate two handfuls and I'm fairly certain I won't eat another bite for the next decade. I don't even like them. I never have. I just wanted them so much and ate sooooo many.

ummmm for the most part nothing!

We didn't feel like cooking tonight and my husband was going to stop by KFC (I know horrible food for a pregnant woman to be eating but it sounded good). So all of a sudden I wanted the chicken that is drenched in the BBQ sauce. Well of course they didn't have it!

Over all for the most part I have just been thirsty and wanting a glass of milk in the morning. As far as food aversions it has been so random. I was in the grocery store last week and the brown sugar smell made me nauseous. Go figure!

Not much to speak of, except the other day I made so salsa fresca for our fish tacos. I took a bite to taste it and it took everything I had not to sit down on the couch with a spoon and eat the whole bowl!

I've found myself craving a Pomegranate Paradise smoothie from Jamba Juice today. I never go to Jamba Juice. I drink spinach and beet concoctions from the health food restaurant near my apartment. But today? Pomegranate Paradise.

So that's why I'm sitting in City Hall Park right now, smoothie in one hand, iPhone in the other taking my (very) late lunch.

I have been having aversions to coffee and raw spinach (my favorite) since 5 days before my bfp. I haven't been loving anything too sweet, but I haven't had any cravings. I've been eating tons of protein though, because it seems to keep the nausea at bay. I am hungry ALL.THE.TIME. though. I don't remember ever being this hungry in my last three pregnancies.

No cravings as of yet...but with this nausea (that wasn't here at all last time) I find myself putting a lot in my belly to try to settle it. Definately not working, just making me more uncomfortable!

Lots of pickles, I know, totally cliche. We went to a festival this weekend and a BBQ joint had fried pickles with ranch and I spent 4 hours talking myself out of it then finally caved and got them and of course they were delicious but then I wanted to die because I felt so sick. My M/S kicked in yesterday, right on time, so I'm grossed out by everything. The smells in my house are sure to send me over the edge. Who knew dog food food smelled so horrific?

I don't feel all that bad this time (last time I had HG for 26 weeks, so I deserve this!) I ate like crap before, processed foods, craved ice cream, cheese, crappy fatty foods

This time before I got pregnant I have been eating healthy for about 2 years now, so I am craving things like oatmeal, mayo-less potato salad, asparagus.

Carrots! It's happened a couple times. Dh called me while doing errands tonight and after he resisted going to the store just for carrots, I actually heard myself say quite emphatically, "I'm a pregnant woman and I want carrots!" He got the message and I got the carrots.

Ugh for the most part I hate food when I am pregnant. I only have been pregnant one other time but the extreme food aversions have started again already. I do every once in a while get an intense craving though. The first one was for strawberries. Now I am just dying for a breaded chicken sandwich with bacon and cheese. We are gluten free now though so I can't have one, I could cry lol, over a sandwich.

"Bread" the chicken breast with ground nuts (pecans are the best!). Maybe that on a GF bread would do the trick?

I was a vegetarian for 7 years, then during my last pregnancy I dreamed in turkey. My body is telling me again this time to really increase my protein intake. And, I need fruit. Lots of sour fruits.

I saw a Bisquick pancake commercial yesterday, and since then I've been dying for some strawberry and Nutella pancakes... sadly, I have no ingredients. Maybe I can convince my husband to take me to IHOP tonight.

Chicken breast "breaded" with pecans is absolutely amazing! You absolutely must try it if you're gf.

I would give anything for zuppa toscana (homemade, not Olive Garden's) and a juicy bacon cheeseburger. I have a stomach virus though that is probably going to last a week (it has so far with the kids ). It's going to be a long time before I fulfill my cravings! By then, I probably won't want to look at them anymore.

I don't feel really nauseous yet, but my taste buds are all off. Sweet things don't taste right, and all I want are things that taste strong. I made some shrimp for dinner Thursday and my friends all thought they were incredibly spicy -- and I couldn't tell at all.

Yesterday was one of my best friend's birthday, so a large group of us got together and went out to eat last night - her choice.

Let's just say there's nothing quite like throwing up a $50 fillet minion with a bathroom attendant standing fifteen feet away.

Needless to say, no more beef for me for a little while.
